Ok. I've avoided reading this thread so I wouldn't steal any picks. There may be some repeats, but they're entirely coincidental. Tonight, I'll start with the major players, but I'll get to more characters in the next couple days.
The X-Men:
Professor Charles Xavier - The thing about Xavier is that, no matter how altruistic he acts, how kind, can you really trust him? The fact remains that he can read minds and control thoughts. Sure, he says he stays out of your head, and he probably does...but you've gotta wonder.
John Malkovich (Burn After Reading, The Man In The Iron Mask)
Cyclops - I'm not gonna knock James Marsden for his portrayal of Cyclops. The guy's a good actor, but he just wasn't written well. This time around, the guy needs to be straight-laced, intense, a born leader. He's got a long fuse, but you wouldn't want to light it. He's not good at leaving his intensity behind him, but Jean does her best to coax it out of him.
Ryan Gosling (Fracture, Half Nelson)
Marvel Girl - Tricky role. She has to be strong enough to earn a place in the field, flirty and kind enough to draw Scott out of his shell, tough enough to handle Wolverine, and you've gotta believe she's smart and almost as psychically strong as Xavier. Then, a whole new level of acting is needed come time for the Phoenix saga.
Emily Blunt (Sunshine Cleaning, The Devil Wears Prada)
Beast - Crazy intelligent and wracked with self-loathing. Self-deprecatingly funny and truly witty. A gentle and depressed giant who is an animal in combat. So many juxtapositions and interesting bits in this character.
William Brad Henke (Choke, Lost)
Storm - Otherworldly and powerful. Beyond strong. A goddess in her previous life. She's not the namby-pamby Halle Berry brought to the screen. It'll take a real actress to effectively portray Ororo. Someone like...
Taraji P. Henson (Smokin' Aces, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)
Iceman - A young, impetuous prankster. But, he can hold his own.
Hunter Parrish (Weeds, 17 Again)
Wolverine - Maybe the toughest role to cast well. He's gotta be psychotically violent, short-fused, the baddest motha around. Battle-hardened, but he still looks like a relatively young man. He's an amnesiac with a tragic past that continues to haunt him. He's brutal, a loner, who slower comes over to the X-Men's side. Not an easy role, and it requires an actor who's more than just a muscle-bound action star.
Jon Hamm (Mad Men, The Day The Earth Stood Still)
