Marsden could have been good though. Crappy writing for Cyke, though.

I think they should reboot the franchise in 5 years. FOX or not. I dont think FOX is going to let go of the franchise when its one of the most successful franchises of all time. And I think the next team should look at Lost for some guidance

I say give it the Batman Begins model, and reboot it several years after the franchise is dead. Give the movies enough time to breathe, so that someone can come along and reinvent the wheel so that the audience doesn't become overwhelmed by the back-to-back franchises.

Short Answer: Yes, absolutely

Long Answer: Wellllll, do we have to...I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm an X-Men fan to the core of my bones, but they've screwed up so much with this series would it even be worth it? The problem, my problem with reboots is that if you're trying to "correct" a franchise that's strayed far from the comics, rebooting gives you an equal chance to continue to get it wrong. So wrong in fact that no one will ever want to see the character get onscreen treatment again, ever. A lot of people credit Batman for proving how well a reboot can restore a tarnished image. Batman, though, has the benefit of having been in television and movies since the 1940s. If anything people expect him to get a reboot.

I know! What sucks is that his character was pretty shallow in the first two movies. They finally give his character some decent lines in third X-men flick (I thought his mourning character resembled the best Claremont Cyclops stories) and then they kill him off screen like hes some second rate henchmen or something. They could have at least shown him get blown up or something.

Actually I'm kind of glad they didn't because I can pretend he was just sent to an alternate time line or something.

After watching Watchmen, I think the first film of an x-men reboot doesn't have to entirely focus on the original 5 x-men. The movie could show a montage of the original x-men and what they went through until Xavier recruited several more international mutants (like in Giant Size X-men from 1975). The majority of the film would focus on the second generation team such as Storm, Wolverine, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Thunderbird, Cyclops, Marvel Girl and Kitty Pryde probably too as their youngest member. The original team could still be shown through various flashback scenes as well. I hope this doesn't sound too much like a Watchmen ripoff. I'm sure Zack Snyder would've presented X-Men this way if he had been the director.

Yes,they should reboot after Marvel gets the rights back. The first movie tried to do a origin(the flashback of Magneto's youth)but it went off the track from there on.I realize X-Men:First Class is trying to fill that void and we'll see what happens. But I agree that the original 5 should be featured with new characters coming in later.

No reboot. Get the cast back for X4 doing as good a job possible to ignore X3.
