I don't think a reboot is necessary. We had 2 awesome X-Men films. And Wolverine is decent enough.

True, despite it's good traits, X3 wasn't that great. But after watching the movie a couple of times, I noticed it set up some great possibilities for a future film. And surprisingly enough, their 2 of the biggest complaints I have about the movie when I heard it would be the final film. Allow me to explain:

- Cyclops' death: Sure, it seems Summers is dead. But the Phoenix is a mysterious force to deal with. Besides, it's a comic book movie: no body, no death. We just have Cyclops wandering arround with amnesia, not sure who he is or what happened until the newly resurrected Xavier and his X-Men find him. And of course his survival would be a crucial plot point for the sequel.

- The Cure: As Magneto proves at the end of the film, no mater how big a dosage you receive, the mutation cure is not permanent. The way I envision it, those who took the cure find their mutations comeback with a vengence! This would not only give certain characters back powers they had in the comics(Magneto's forcefield, Rogue's flight/super strength) but would also make the mutants seem more dangerous with the sudden explosion of power. From their, the movie can go just about anywhere you want: the mutant registration act, REAL sentinels, Genosha, etc.

I know that talk of X-Men: First Class has come up, but why bother? Sure, X3 was bad, but X1 and X2 were awesome. And Wolverine Orgins was decent. Besides, X3 was at least a commercial success

Instead of rebooting an already awesome franchise, why not pull a TERMINATOR* and make an awesome movie that expands on what was setup in the last horrendous film. Plus, how many Punisher films or Fantastic Four movies must you watch before you realize that reboots don't work for Marvel movies?

(*: Yes, I know Terminator Salvation isn't out yet, so there's no way I can know for sure this movie will be awesome. But come on! Have you seen the footage? Have you taken a look at the cast? Do you know who wrote this thing? HOW CAN IT NOT BE AWESOME?!? Definitley better than that turd known as TERMINATOR 3)
So much fail.... :csad:

Since there are loads of stories to tell from the X-Men comics, it should be rebooted as an animated TV show with video game-type graphics.

Maybe, Pixar can animate it with help from a comic book artist for it to look like it came right out of an actual comic book panel and they should get actual comic book writers to work on it.

Get the rights back from Fox and reboot. Get PJ as the director.

PJ and Weta on an X-men movie....simply stunning.

I still find it stunning how X-men--one of the greatest comics of all time has gotten shafted on film. So much potential wasted...

Also, someone said they need to bring the fantasy back into X-men. Truer words have not been spoken.

Free the X-men franchise from their shackles of mediocrity and let them be THE X-MEN from the comics, not John and Jane Doe's X-men lite.

I know that a reboot is unlikely but thought of reboot casting.

Professor Charles Xavier: John Malkovich

Scott Summers/Cyclops: Patrick Wilson (Watchmen)

Hank McCoy/Beast: Benicio Del Toro (The Wolfman Remake, Sin City)

Jean Grey: Eva Green (Casino Royale)

Warren Worthington III/Angel: Matthew Goode (Watchmen)

Bobby Drake/Iceman: Chris Pine (Star Trek)

Logan/Wolverine: Jackie Earle Haley or Eric Bana

Eric Lensherr/Magneto: Jeremy Irons

Mortimer Toynbee/Toad: Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings)

Jason Wyngarde/Mastermind: David Thewlis (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban)

Peter Maximoff/Quicksilver: Paul Bettany

Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch: Helen Bonham Carter

I think the right director for the reboot would be J.J Abraham's (Star Trek) and Andrew Kevin Walker as screenwriter (I thought his 1994 rejected X-Men script was perfect).

His script was pretty ridiculous. It could've worked for the 90's era of movies, but putting the X-Men in kevlar and body armor wouldn't work out nowadays.

Would it be alright if I posted a "Cast the X-Universe" thread? Or is there already one?

They should reboot the films with Singer. And introduce key characters better. And Singer should do his own version of the Phoenix story eventually. There needs to be a need trilogy.

And instead of doing Wolverine spin off like this trilogy did. I'd do a Phoenix spin off. To better tell the story. Because the Phoenix story is really an amazing story and a key part of Marvel comics.

Nah reboot with Joss Whedon, he has wrote some really good X-men stories and TRULY gets the characters.

Yes to a reboot after they are done with the new X-Men:First Class movie. Also I would love to see Marvel Studios get the rights back.

-I would love to see a the 1st movie based off of the original Len Wein/Dave Cockrum/Chris Claremont/John Byrne material.
-Then after that a rated R Wolverine movie where he faces off against Hulk/Wendigo/Omega Red and more. With flashbacks sprinkled through.
-I would want a younger cast so they could carry on through the sequels.

Ironic, considering he wrote a draft for the first movie, and they only kept two lines of it.

Don't suppose there is a copy of that script floating around somewhere, bet it was good, just not what Singer wanted.

also that was before he wrote Astonishing....so, who knows.

Yeah read both of those, shame nothing from the Whedon one to be found.

I think its early yet.

I want another x-film by Singer. hopefully X4.

and then, if Fox/Marvel want, a reboot, some years later.

But they can do good things with the main cast yet.

I'd give anything for a reboot. I'd rather have X-Men First Class be a reboot.

If you wanna know why, here it is... I'm a big Cyclops fan...

Understand now? :p

I do. :)

I think you will be more pleased with this film than the previous four.

I do. :)

I think you will be more pleased with this film than the previous four.

Well I hope so.

Three things are gonna help with that. 1) Wolverine won't be constantly undermining him and trying to steal his girlfriend 2) I'm pretty sure they won't kill him off... 3) Since he's not supposed to be the leader of the X-Men yet, it won't bother me that he's not in any way being presented as such.

I hate Cyke, but he does deserve his due. I am huge Wolverine fan, but I think he works best in the X-men as the back ground character. That said He is the Only leader I want to see in X-force now.
