What is added to this book, as I have not had the chance to go out and buy it. Basically what I'm asking is what does it connect from X2 to X3? I've heard that there were references to Deathstrike.

That wud b pretty interesting. I hope those references r tru.

Well in the official game between X2 and X3, which is canon, Sabertooth and Deathstrike are alive and well, which goes into favor of them occuring in the future. I'm just wondering if there were any differences between the two mediums.

I haven't quite finished the book yet, but the one difference I noticed was in the brief conversation between Pyro and Magneto where Pyro says, "I would have killed Xavier if you would have given me the chance."

In the movie, Mags says "Charles Xavier did more for mutants than you will ever know. My greatest regret is that he had to die for our dream to live."

In the book, Mags says "Charles Xavier was my friend... He did more for mutants... etc. etc."

It wasn't much of a difference, but I really felt the emotional impact more from the book. Not to put down McKellan's performance, mind you.

There are little differences here and there, but not much. Granted there might be HUGE differences in the last 40 pages, but nothing so far.

By the way... Go CANES!!! Stanley Cup bound!!!

I shall be at Game One here in Raleigh Monday night!!!!!!

WHOOOOOOOOOO! WHOOOOOOOOOO! (You have to envision Rick Flair screaming that on the big screen in the RBC Center)

Lucky you. I'm in the area, but a fresh high school graduate like myself can't afford tickets.

In the book:

- Rogue didn't take the cure
- There was more emphasis on the school after the Phoenix battle(including new students)
- Moria met Magneto at the end while he was playing chess offering help
- The mutants in the sidelines were different than in the movie (limb regrowing guy became lobster guy..etc)
- There was also a scene with Bishop and Charlotte Jones as cops controling the riots
- Pyro was saved from Jean by Iceman (and Iceman lost all his clothes icing up.. it became brittle and broke off)
- A lot more dialogue
- in between scenes where Jean was thinking of her past..about Xavier , and his first students(Jean,Scott,Ororo,Hank)
- Intro scene was about Jean's bestfriend dying activating Jean's abilities in the process
- Shadowcat was little more computer savy
- Beast didn't accept the gov't offer and decided to stay at the mansion as a professor
- Psylocke, Arclight, and Kid omega had less to do but didn't die
- Angel brought his father back home after rescuing hm and had an emotional moment where his father accepted him for who he was and metioned a charter warren drew as a child called archangel, then he went back to the battle saying he was an x-man now and had to help..(brought back pants for Bobby)
- Scott was a lot more appreciated
- Colossus had a lot more to do and to say (including a brief tussle with Juggernaut and Pyro..sort of)
- Ororo thinking about Xavier, Scott, and Jean in the last part of the book, then kitty going to her and talking then they hug (just like one of the promo pics)
- Callisto was stabbed by storm in the heart
- the place where there was a mutant gathering was made to be Valle Soleada?(from X-treme X-men) and the guy there was supposed to be bulky with lots of tatoos
- There was a girl named Alicia Vargas who was also in the X2 book. she went from being the president's body guard in X2 to being Hank's body guard and ultimately the secretary of mutant affairs when hank turned down the offer
- Mentioned magneto's family, with Magda running away from him after Anya (daughter) died.
- Jean enumerated what she had learned from her friends Hank-Laughter and Joy, Ororo- Friendship, Scott-Love, Xavier-Hope, Logan-Passion
- Ororo mentioning her african roots (Xavier and Jean went to her in mt Kilamanjaro) and apparently only Jean knew why Xavier became crippled
- no "I'm the Juggernaut! *****!" line
- no Xavier waking up in Moira's lab
- Apparently when Jean uses her "phoenix" powers, she ampilifies other mutant's powers. then she attacks their physical being using telekinesis (thats why Xavier didn't survive no defense to telekinesis, wolve didn't die due to amplified healing factor

Thanks. Yeah, if these were in the movie, it would've been appreciated more by others. I gotta buy the novel.

Hey, isn't gambit mentioned in the novel? i think i read that on some other thread.

yeah he was one of the new mutants training to be X-men including Cannonball,Moonstar,Sage, and I think Wolfsbane? being trained by Wolverine, Kitty and Colossus in the danger room while Storm monitors them in an observation deck...it is also noted that Wolverine thinks Gambit is trouble and Sage is creepy and dangerous

oh and there was also a scene with rogue and wolverine just before they went to alcatraz where she told him that she couldn't go through with the cure but that she was staying behind to protect the students in case magneto came for them

if this was how the movie was, it would have been 1000000000x better!!! :(

That usually applies in novelization to film comparisons.

Question What happens to Cyclops ? Is he alive ?

well it does allude to him being dead but the death scene was also cut off like in the movie...although Jean being unconcious when Storm found her was explained. when she attacked Cyke, Cyke's powers were enhanced and Jean was blown away even as Cyke's skin has begining to crawl..
