XAVIER: The Official Character Discussion Thread

that would rule if the prof and the phoenix duked it out on the astral plane. I don't know if it will happen though...

The battle begins with wind roaring all around, magneto gets tossed back into the wall. Prof. X slowly lifts out of hir chair, attempting to reason. She begins probing his mind, until X gives up reasoning, and shows her who's the boss. Prof. X Wins the battle of minds, and as he overpowers jean, the wind slows and X falls to the ground. Jean Rages. Magneto grabs X and flies off with him leaving a chair that accidently fools wolvering and storm into thinking he's dead.

But if there's no Xavier, there's no X-Men.
Cyclops takes over the X-Men. And Xavier is transported to the Savage Land by Jean by accident.

Okay, that's pushing too far. :p Would the Savage Land work on screen?

well here is the proof that Magneto's there when X and PhoeniX duke it out. and when you go back to the trailer you notice Magneto on the ground in the kitchen behind Xavier right as he's being lifted. I think Phoenix will take Xavier somewhere and they'll battle in the mind. it's not these films' style to be gorey or even as violent as cable television shows so I can't see Xavier being demoleculized or exploding. Wolverine and Storm can't be tricked for long if they do because Magneto's right there to tell them what really happened.

ya can kinda start piecing things together now.

X-Men and Brotherhood (or maybe just Magneto) go to stop Phoenix.

next is when we see Storm lifting and spinning wildly with Juggernaut fleeing for some reason. I kinda thought her spin looked a little uncontrollable. maybe Phoenix is controlling her? then again, she is knocking fools out, too. what happens to Wolverine between now and then is what I'm dying to find out.

Phoenix throws back Magneto leaving Xavier and Phoenix off to the races. enters Wolverine and Storm through a series of massive holes in the walls.

the exciting conclusion coming 5-26. seems like forever.

i dont think we have to worry too much about the movie containing lots of things that arent in the comics.
im reminded of the same thing that brett likes to say in almost all of his interviews, something to the effect of: "i can approach the writers with any sequence that they have written, and they can show me which comic they got it from."

Hey! There should be a poll for this thread!

I'm very itching to find out why Magneto was talking to Xavier in front of Wolverine and Storm for. This should be one of the great scenes. You can never go wrong with Xavier/Magneto scenes.

The Xavier/Magneto after the debate in X1, the chess scene, the visit in X2 and the Dark Cerebro scene - they stole the movie. :D:up:

The more I learn about this movie, the less I understand.. :p

Yeah. :p I mean, you'd expect to find some answers when you're getting closer and closer to the truth, but all you find is a bunch of questions.

It would be a tough battle but Phoenix would definately win in the end!

I just keep hoping it'll be a battle of the minds on the astral plane. Xavier is certainly a challenge for Phoenix, and I wouldn't want to see him die within two seconds.

Neither would I. Especially since in comparison to everyone else, Xavier is still really powerful in the movie-verse.

Even in the movies he seems to be the most powerful mutant on Earth. Every character was "leveled down" for the movies, but Xavier remained as powerful as in the comics. Remember that he almost kills all the mutants (and then all the humans) on the planet in X2...

LOL....Phoenix is 100x more powerful than Xavier. She was stronger than him as a 10 year old little girl.

Wasn't Xavier the one who stopped Dark phoenix in the Phoenix saga in the books and on the 90's cartoon when she k.o the entire x team? I know I remember reading where the Phoenix said that it was stopped by Xavier's sheer will and unmatched skills despite it being more powerful.

Movie wise Xavier's powers are cost effective, so it's simple for him to be what he is in the comics. I think both Storm and Cyclops appeared the same in the film, as well as logan and Mystique.

Phoenix was stopped because subconsciously the "good Jean" part of her wanted to lose. Says it in the comic.

But Xavier's incredibly powerful, and should be a very tough fight.

Storm is definitely depowered from the comics. As is Logan (one bullet isn't doing anything to Logan in the comics). Cyke I partially agree, and Mystique... of course. :D

Whipping up twisters? That was mad powerful. I've never seen Storm in the comics whip up so many twisters. Cyke wasn't depowered, His power display was on par with the comics. it's just in the movies that he didn't use his power that due to budget no doubt.

I'm betting Magneto's not there to stop Jean. Just to recruit her.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. I wonder how Xavier will react to this.

Prof. X more powerful than Jean Grey, more experience. Dark Phoenix more powerful than Prof.X cause shes KICK ASS

Heh. Just check out some comics. You'll see what I mean. Recently there was an arc where a mind controlled Storm was causing a massive shift in the weather patterns of the whole globe. She contained a nuclear explosion with her powers. She sucked energy from a galactic core to counter an alien threat. Etc.

Its almost certain that the powers in the comics will gradually escalate to unbelievable levels over a timespan of 30 years, especially when Claremont and female superheroes are involved :D When the X-men first came out the Blob was a formidable enemy for the whole team.

Pretty much everyone in the movies is depowered, including Iceman, Rogue, Pyro, everyone.

Thats only partially true. When Cyke lets loose in the comics he can cause immense damage. Check out Astonishing #8 for proof. After his blast, a Sentinel becomes a huge smoking crater with a wide angle blast. He levels half a forest. Don't really see him do that in the movies. He's not depowered much though I agree.

^Yeah.

I'd LOVE to see Cykes letting it all out in the movies. :o
