Isnt RRoD covered outside of the 3 years? When my system red ringed i was outside of my warranty. I had a launch system that crapped out this past December.

You're right, it's the original 1 year warranty plus the new 3 year one I think.

Now you've done it. Speaking about it is the 360 equivalent to watching the video from Ring. It's just a matter of time now.

On a more serious note, I wonder how much they've spent on fixing RROD's? They've reportedly blown thru the billion they set back already. Even with MS's deep wallets it's got to hurt bad enough at some point to try and do something more drastic to fix it.

Mine just gave me problems again after just after I gave the last one I had broke traded in(and for a pity, a completely different amount than they told me over the phone). I think I'm just freaking not geting any new Xboxes after my current warranty ends. Sure this one's a refurbished unit, but a so soon! DAMN!

Thank God MS cuts u a break and covers the RRoD. My buddies PS3 crapped out after the last update and Sony wants 150 bux for repairs.

I know two people who have not, maybe even three or four but at least two of those three or four don't play it nearly as much as myself or my other friend that got it. One of them is in the military so he doesn't even have it with him. The other is married and works full time and isn't a huge gamer.

Have you guys heard about the lawsuit some PS3 gamer filed against Sony?

The firmware update bricked his system, damaged his controller and I dunno what else. Sony refused to acknowledge it was they're fault. Sounds exactly like the problem your friend had, Pat.

Btw...was this under warranty?

I've really got to doublecheck both my PS3 and 360 to see if the warranty is still up.

I just got the RRoD E74 error and Microsoft refused to cover it so I had to get ahold of a supervisor at customer support and rip his head off and they agreed to fix it for free. As soon as I got the RRoD I canceled my Xbox live subscription so what does Microsoft do? They go ahead and pull the money from my account for a whole new year of XBL 2 weeks ahead of when my account was supposed to expire. I had to call once more and do a bit of ass chewing to get my money back. I'm going PS3. I've had it with this chicken **** company.

I got the RRoD a month ago had the same E74 problem as you luckily they got it fixed and gave me a free month of xbox live.

And for the 2nd time in less than 6 months my 360 is down... Instead of disks not being read, not it`s the e74 error, not showing visuals on the screen... yay Gotta get this fixed quick as mass effect 2 is coming out on 1/26

At least the E74 error is covered under the RROD warranty now. I got it when it was just starting to rise up in numbers and had for pay to get it fixed.

Microsoft need to focus on making their **** more reliable, 54% (probably higher now) is a joke..

A friend has had to send the same Xbox 360 away 3 times & he just bought a new one for Christmas because the repeat offender 1st Xbox 360 kept freezing & switching itself off..

You should all just buy Playstation 3's & get Xbox controller adaptors for it, I've had mine 3 years & not 1 single problem, not even a game freeze.

You should all just buy Playstation 3's & get Xbox controller adaptors for it, I've had mine 3 years & not 1 single problem, not even a game freeze.

Once the PSN catches up to Live, im going to do just that. Thats the primary reason why i use my 360 over my PS3, the PSN just isnt as fluid as Live. I mean sending/checking messages and finding your friends shouldnt be as hard as it is on the PS3. Once they clean that mess up, im jumping ship.

that's a bit of a misleading number considering the survey was limited to people who still actually read game informer, which are going ot be your hardcore gamers who likely play the console 12 hours a day.

To be honest its more something to get used to, I've used a friends Xbox Live & I found it kinda awkward and difficult to navigate about to find & send messages..

I'm not saying the PSN is better or doesn't need improving because it isn't & it does in more ways than one, but the Xbox Live features are just as difficult & hard to use... especally to newcomers.

Also the PSN is free to use for all PS3 users.. at least for now argh & the Xbox Live costs what.. $50 per year?
