Western Yellowstone

Watching the Yellowstone double season 5 opener. Now that I've worked my way through all the seasons, am I the only who kinda feels bad for Jamie? The way Beth rips at him is beyond cruel. :(

I hope this also plays on the Paramount channel like Yellowstone and Tulsa so I can watch it. :)

Even after knowing why she rips at him? I mean, I definitely agree with you though.

I don't know that Jamie fully understood what he was doing at the clinic. He was too young. Plus I find it unrealistic that nurses never told Beth the details before they did anything. :(

Nah, what he put her through was permanent and changed her life so he deserves it. Also he's generally a weak and easily led character so my sympathy for him is virtually non-existent.

...finally finished the back-half of 1883 and the last 3 episodes of Yellowstone S5-1. Yellowstone has been a bit boring since S4, but still love the side characters and such.

Rip is my boy, love the Monica stuff (mad they had to do that to her though in the finale/opener), Beth is just too much (even though she rocks her crazy moments), Teeter always rules, nice to see Jimmy again. The splitting up of the ranch seems odd, don't know how much that plays into Part 2 of S5... maybe they'll have a huge time jump.

Really enjoying the new season of Mayor Of Kingstown, only have seen the pilot to 1923 (it was fine) - happy to see a cowboy James Badge Dale.

Taylor Sheridan rankings - so far;

--A--
1883
Mayor Of Kingstown | 1
Yellowstone | 2
--B--
Yellowstone | 1
Yellowstone | 3
--C--
Yellowstone | 5 - Part 1
Yellowstone | 4

Weird.

Didn't think they'd wrap up John's story by the end of S5, wonder if this means McConaughey in will take over Yellowstone or simply finish the Dutton's and then spin off.

Reading the Deadline article it seems like Costner wants to devote his time to a new show he's directing, and not be so involved with Yellowstone. The splitting of the current season into two parts is likely due to this as well. Rather than shoot around Costner's new schedule, it seems like Paramount & Sheridan would rather write him out of the show and start a new series with most (if not all) of the remaining cast with McConaughey as the new lead.

The only reason I can see for transplanting the cast to a new series is to avoid paying Costner any residuals for future seasons of Yellowstone.

It doesn't really matter to me what they do with this show. I didn't care for it from the beginning, but the first few seasons had a certainly charm to them. I was primarily just watching it for Costner. Ever since this became a franchise, though, and Sheridan's focus has been split between half a dozen shows the quality has noticeably dropped. Season 4 was pretty bad all around, and I checked out of season 5 after two episodes. The spinoffs so far haven't been interesting, either.

I've often wondered how the show would end. Do they keep the land? Lose the land to developers? But with that 'spectacular' suggestion, maybe Yellowstone volcano erupts and no-one gets it :beaming:

What if Matthew McConaughey plays a grown up Tate and the show takes place in the future? Tate is part of the generation that’s supposed to “give” back the land according to 1883 mythology.

I could live with that very easily. :)

I'm okay with that. It had a good run and it's getting painful watching the family rip itself apart. :(

I can't even remember where we left off now never mind a whole year later......

I’ve been watching this on CBS and loving it. Makes me mad I didn’t watch this when the show originally aired because I did think it looked interesting back then but better late then never. The story with the Beck brothers was brutal.
