Thread for the villain everyone hates to love. Loves to hate? Hates to hate! LOKI RETURNS!

While I'm excited at the idea of seeing Loki again, I'm more excited about Joss writing for Loki. Tom is fantastic at bringing this character to life, but Whedeon's dialogue in Avengers helped elevate his character/performance to mega-fangirl status. Bring it on!

Yeah, while I'm a little concerned at overexposure (basically a "Sylar Effect," if Heroes is important enough to have a thing named after it, where a villain so compelling a character that he has to always be there), Joss Whedon would give me hope of him being done right.

Of course, there's no reason to assume, at this point, that Joss Whedon would be responsible for his dialogue. We'll have to wait and see.

Is it possible that he could fill Mephisto's role in the original story?

Loki what's not to love. I think he'll be more of an ally than villain this time around.

It's funny that people seem to think loki is the avengers' archnemesis now. I guess the avengers don't really have an archnemesis and as far as the general public are aware you always start off franchises with the archnemesis

I haven't seen anyone think that Loki is the archenemy of the Avengers. And as for seeing the archenemy in the first film: Joker in TDK trilogy? Ultron in A2? Lex in BvS?

I hope I'm not sounding confrontational though that's not my intent. :yay:

Sorry about the double post.

That's ok, you're not sounding confrontational.

A couple of questions on non comic book fan sites asked if loki would keep coming back to victimise the avengers

I don't think Loki will suffer from overexposure. That really only happens when they throw the character in everywhere no matter if he fits or not. So far Loki has had three appearances & each one has been spectacular. I'd be perfectly fine with seeing him several more times.

Hiddelston is awesome.

IW or A4 could be his last film. If it was I think it would have been a good run for a villain.

he's had 4 so far all the thors + A1 and he will also show up in at least A3 if not A4 so a minimum of 5 movies loki shows up in

I think Loki will definitely bite it in either A3 or A4. Personally I hope it's A4.

Hope he gets killed off.

Whilst I like th and think he makes the character funny he's a woeful villain and he seems to show up a lot he's had his time.

The new footage seems to be the exact same scene, just a second earlier. I'll be very surprised indeed if Loki makes it off that ship alive and doesn't die in the first 5 minutes of the movie.

Feige said that Loki will be Thanos' ally, so he at least will survive the encounter.
Also Loki made a hobby out of faking his own death.

Real Avengers 1 vibes from the lighting in those shots, too, very cool.

He never said that Loki would be Thanos' ally, that was a false report based on a tweet by omelete that spread like wildfire.

What Feige really said regarding Thanos's allies was: "He’s got some company. There’s some old faces that you’ll recognize. A certain brother of Thor might show up for a while."

Nothing about an ally.

Feige also said that someone whose death they had teased several times would die for real this time, that he felt like after all this time they had to deliver. The only character who we were made to believe had died several times is Loki.

And 'might show up for a while'? That could be any length of time. It's even possible that he said this specifically because he's aware of fans' suspicions regarding Loki's very early death.

Another factor is that Hiddleston appears to not have been filming. At all. He appeared in a theatre production in London while they were filming last year, and has been sporting a hobo beard for more than half a year now. The only time he shaved it off, briefly, was when they filmed that Avengers 1 flashback scene, then immediately grew it back as can be seen in the Early Man promotion pictures/videos.

So, yeah. I personally still believe that they kill him off immediately so that the main focus can be on Thanos. Remember, they also cut his scene in Age of Ultron, because people at test screening immediately assumed that Loki was the real villain eventhough he had nothing to do with any of it.

Feige said "teasing several times" about Thanos, not about someone's death.
