I think I found another actor where I like more than 10 movies to make top 10. Ranking in terms of my enjoyment and rewatchability, not performance.

Pacino has done some epic stuff- personally I'd put Godfather 1 and 2 above everything else he's done. I didn't think his performance in Godfather 3 was anywhere near as good - Michael Corleone is a scary guy, because he's quiet and is very calm and rational when he's having people murdered- kind of the opposite of his Scarface character.

I see you've left out Scent of a Woman, any reason why ?

Carlito's way is a very underrated film IMO.

I had to leave something out. I like the films above more than Scent of a Woman and a few other films. I put them in order of most watched, not their place in cinema history or Al's performance, as I mentioned in the previous post.

For me Leonardo DiCaprio is truly one of the greatest modern actors working today. It's funny too because I can still remember when people were only looking at him as the hearthrob/pretty boy from Titanic and didn't take his acting seriously at all until he starting working with Scorsese. I always really liked him as an actor though even in his earlier years, but he has definitely become an immensely better actor as he has gotten older.

Sorry about the lack of Gifs guys.

Performance wise I feel like Mr Ripley is his high point - and the Martian is essentially a one man show, which is almost more impressive. GWH is a great film, and a strong performance but I feel it's not as nuanced as Ripley- who's sometimes both sympathetic and repellent at the same time.

As for the Bourne movies, I feel safe putting them as a single entry. Damon does a great job of taking the audience through Bourne's evolution, but I kind of see them as almost a single film - which is the best way to watch them ( might go away and do that now......) Bourne Ultimatum is probably my favourite action/thriller ( Inception is number 2).

In Invictus, he does a decent SA accent (his rugby is pretty average though)- but Morgan Freeman really carries the film.

I forgot about Courage Under Fire - didn't he lose a ton of weight for that film ?

Why no " The Departed " ? A lot of strong performances in that film, very tightly written story, the suspense gets pretty intense in some bits.

    Cheers.

Speaking of which, when is your next Hitchcock review? There's plenty of time for that now that you're in self isolation. :p

You don't have to release them all at once though. We might be in lockdown a while, so best to stagger the content.
