After everything we've seen/heard so far, how do you "feel" this movie is going to be in terms of quality?

For me, (assuming what we heard will be Bane's voice throughout the whole movie), I'm expecting an amazing story, but with a major flaw that will hold it back from being of the same near-masterpiece quality of TDK. This is just my expectations, maybe Hardy might make his Bane work, but if I just had to make a guess, I'd say we won't get as terrifying of a character like Heath's Joker.

Either way, it's the story and characterization that really matters to me, I won't let a bad performance ruin the film. (if it is a bad one that is)

But people were saying just that: the voice is odd but the performance was menacing (that we've seen so far).

Well the voice is a part of the performance. What else was Hardy doing that made it menacing?

Mine aren't very high, that way I can't be let down in case the movie isn't as great as TDK. I know everyone on here thinks Chris Nolan is some god (he really isn't) and that he can't deliver a turd of a movie, but thus far I am not as thrilled with TDKR as I was TDK and BB. I know I am going to get grilled once again becasue I unlike the flock of sheep that frequent this board am going against the grain with my opinion.

Hopefully I am proven wrong and this goes down as one of the best triology movies of all time. However its usually the 3rd movie in the trilogy that ruins it. Back to the Future 3 (worst one), Scream 3 (yeah I just mentioned Scream 3 lol), the list goes on

waiting on the fanboys to jump my **** lol.

Something about shoving the microphone in the mad scientist's face, pushing him around, and subsequently slitting his throat. There's likely more that I don't remember. And the new video of the voice isn't as bad as before. It's much less distorted and weird.

Though I respect your opinion, you're really asking for trouble by calling the board members "fanboys" and generally insulting them. Don't be a troll. Just get your point across sans snarky comments and insults.

So far i love the way it's going story wise. I only wish Nolan would make 2-parts and really milk it because it seems very cluttered at the moment. I am thrilled about Bane being a main villain but i am also apprehensive about characterisation after hearing....'The voice'. not sure on Selina either, not a Hathaway fan.

Still, these films are always different in my head and thus never reach expectation, though TDK came very close due it's superior writing.

I expect a great and heavy conclusion to what may be the greatest trilogy of all time. I'm confident that the things fans are complaining about will be fixed by Nolan and the crew, because he's an artist and a visionary who isn't going to ruin his trilogy with a misstep. He's purposeful and meticulous and I'm sure that I will love The Dark Knight Rises. The legacy the trilogy has will probably be like Star Wars, where the second is definitely the best in the eyes of most, but all three are good. Every comic book film will most likely continue to be held to this standard.

I think shoving a pencil through the forehead of a mobster is much more badass then slitting a scientist throat. It was little things like that, that made TDK such a monster film

To me, all the stuff that's coming out at this stage - set pics, looks at the costumes, snippets of people's voices - is all surface detail that is not going to have any real impact one way or the other on my overall expectations for The Dark Knight Rises.

Right now, my expectations for this film are pretty much the same as they were back in 2008. The Dark Knight is my favourite film, and it gave me everything I wanted out of a Batman movie. I'm not expecting this film to top that film experience for me. But I AM confident it can break the superhero third-film curse and be a great film in its own right, and it's the film I'm looking forward to more than any other in production.

I expect Bane to talk about tuppence at least once in the movie :oldrazz: (Damn you, Trav, you've ruined me now!!!)

Seriously, there's only two things I've had issues with and that's the apparent inclusion of Talia and Bane's voice. My issue with Talia is the adding in of a third major villain which may steal some of the limelight from Bane given his apparent association with her. After all, it's not the first time a classic Bat villain has been reduced to a glorified errand boy for the LOS (Scarecrow). Bane should be a leader. His own man. Not a follower.

Second is Bane's voice. Hopefully that audio clip is a work in progress because if that's what the final product sounds like then Bane sounds like he should be fighting Alfred not Batman.

But there's still the chance that these things will not be as bad as they seem. Hopefully Bane still gets to be top villain and not a lackey for Talia and her LOS.

Stoked.

Even if it turns out to be not as good as TDK, i still think it will be a brilliant film.

Lol, this is gonna turn into a voice-discussion. Myself I think Bane's voice sounds creepy, in the same creepy-league as The Joker.

I'm 100% sold on Bane so far.

Catwoman looks cool in the pic we have and I like the stripper angle.

Both Stadium and City Hall scenes looks absolutely mindblowing and that's just on crappy cameras.

Teaser-trailer is clumsy but the new material in itself is great.

The only thing that worries me so far are that strange black ball. I would rather them violate Gotham with something else than a special "machine"

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high and still believe that it won't top TDK for me since that's one of my favorite movies of ALL TIME. But I hope it will be up to BB quality and I haven't disliked one Nolan movie so far.

Expectations =/= what we got. Everything is surprising.

I still expect a spectacular movie, I hope I'm not wrong on that one.

I think Bane and Talia are really co-leaders, executing very different roles for the LOS. I'm really glad that the LOS is tying in with the final part. I just hope that Bane's genius strategist/tactician mentality is well represented.

To be hoest, the inclusion of Talia is one of the aspects of the film I'm MOST excited about. I've never even been that big a fan of Talia in the comics, but the knowledge that she'll be played by Marion Cottilard is enough to spark my interest. She's a great actress whose work I'm very impressed with: I went to see Public Enemies for Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, only for Marion to out-act them both, and she was brilliant in Inception. I'm really intrigued to see what she brings to the character, and now Nolan works Talia into the mix.

I don't think we need to worry about 3 major villains in the film either. Talia and Bane, yes. But Catwoman is likely to be more a love interest than a villain. More a replacement for Rachel than competition for Talia and Bane.

I expect a really good movie especially Nolan's track record. The only two things that keep me from having no doubts are the Catwoman mask (which is more of a nitpick than anything) and the rumored earthquake generator. I do not want another world ending device. Too much like BB. I want this movie to be it's own beast.

Nothing will equal keith ledger's joker. But, I think Bane will be just as menacing and threatening as the joker. Just in an entirely different manner. The scars, the mask, the outfit all give this Bane a Frankenstein like quality. It'll be interesting to see this monster take no prisoners in this film.

Keith Ledger? Is he a friend of Ben?

Realizing that most of the criticisms so far have been hyperbole about an unfinished product that is comparable to seeing Andy Serkis in a bodysuit and thinking we're going to get Sam Fisher instead of Gollum, I'm still extremely excited for this film. I didn't want Talia or the League of Shadows in it at ALL, and I'm still wary about the retreading of previously explored territory, but it does seem like they're going to be doing things nobody ever expected, so that disappointment is more of a curiosity now. Plus Cotillard looks great in the Talia costume.

thats what i'm hoping for as well

I'm expecting it to be much worse than Batman Begins and slightly better than The Dark Knight.

When a third movie was announced: needed new change of pants. Of course a new movie was coming, but something about confirmation raises everything to another level.

When the announcement was made about Bane and Catwoman: Reserved excitement, as nothing, in my opinion, could beat the combination of the Joker and Two-Face.

Tom Hardy as Bane: excited, somewhat. I have never read a Bane comic, but loved Hardy in 'Bronson'.

Hathaway as Catwoman: very happy, so that excitement balanced my general 'meh' reaction to using the Cat.

Casting of JGL and M. Cotillard: very happy

The return of R'as: Beyond excited, as it was the scenes involving the League of Shadows that had me appreciating 'Batman Begins' even moreso than 'The Dark Knight'.

Further news leaks and official info: my excitement went from a 10 to a 9.

Teaser: excited to see real, concrete proof that the movie was indeed real; plus I enjoyed the overall bleak tone it presented

The Catwoman reveal: Not impressed at all

Bane's appearance, voice, etc: again, not that impressed, but I also expect to be amazed when he becomes a monster in the final product.

Bottom line:
At this point, I think I'm excited for the prospect of a satisfying end to my alltime favorite movies. All of the components are there to make it good, at the very least, so I won't be overly negative and say I'm not happy at all with it. Let's just call it hopefully reserved.

To be completely honest, though, with my general apathy towards Catwoman and Bane, I'm very excited about the return of the League and appearances of both R'as (even in flashback) and (potentially) Talia. It all balances out for me.

So with the amount of things I'm ecstatic about mixed with the few areas that I'm a bit reserved towards, let's call it an 8/10 now.

Put another way, my birthday is on July 28 and, at this point, I think I can wait the extra eight days to see it.

Nolan can go **** himself! The movie will bomb because he didnt give catwoman ears OR made Bane spanish FFS! What was he thinking!?

Nah, just kidding, my estimate is opening at 170 million (Potter got 167 right? We gotta beat that folks, easily!) and a huge succes with all fans and GA:s worldwide.

The Dark Knight Trilogy blu-ray will be the most sold package that christmas and all will be well.

I expect it will disappoint many based on what we've seen so far.

I hope i'm wrong because I would love to see the first good superhero trilogy.

Nolan is one mysterious bastard. I have no idea what to expect but I'm psyched to see TDKR non the less. I'm not going to go off the deep end with anything until I see it in a trailer or when I see the film. Everything I see with the set pictures and the spy videos is all out of context.

I have a feeling Chris does have "an ace in the hole" so to speak.
