How the hell can anyone have an opinion about a film 14 months away from release?

How much of you opinions would change if she isn't in it?

They would change dramatically. Not only would I be completely optimistic, but I would jump up and down in celebration, and take back my promise to flip Nolan off if I ever meet him.

You can have an opinion on anything really. I think the purpose of this thread is taking what we know about this film and saying what we like the sound of and we don't like the sound of. Its the same of having an opinion of a clip from a film without seeing it in context. Its what the entire SHH forum (and any forum really) is about. Discussing, speculating and giving our opinion on the very little information that we have at our disposal.

I still don't like the title but that's the only con in what I've heard about the film. I would have preferred riddler to bane and catwoman but that's more of a personal preference than an actual con.

I voted optimistic. Although I have reservations about Hathaway's casting I think she's a good actress and I'm willing to give her a shot since Nolan tested her. I would be much more suspicious if he hadn't done that. The other members of the cast and the possibilities of their characters are awesomely interesting. If Tate turns out to be Talia I won't be surprised. It wasn't what I wanted but sometimes what we want it's not what we need, right? And true artists like Nolan tend to know this better than we, the audience, do.

I'm Optimistic, it's coming along nicely. The cast, Bane, Catwoman ect.

Neutral.. Until I hear more about JGL's casting because John Blake is totally unrealistic seeing as he's a little blonde boy during this time. Also I believe at this point they're straying far far away from TDK and you can't just ignore what happened in that movie. When teasers and more information come out my opinion will most likely change.

@batbax: If you didn't know this, John Blake is some little blonde haired kid who appeared in a coloring book, and one comic... Why recreate that character into a "Beat cop" when theres already another rookie cop being introduced man, it just doesn't fall into line.. and that's not a big enough character to list him as top 5 cast members.. he's going to play something different, you'll see. Following story is a big part of whether im going to be optimistic or pessimistic..

I understand who little johnny blake is in the comics. He appeared in one panel of a very very old joker comic lol. Couldnt it be just as likely, if not moreso, that that is actually the characters name and JGL is in fact playing a cop? Johnny blake isnt exactly a well known comic character who youd use as a diversion LOL. Of course he could be playing something different, but I highly doubt it the john blake name is being used as that diversion.

Definately anythings possible at this point so I guess that could be true. Idk I'm really eager to see if Hugo Strange is going to make an appearance in this movie (Alon Aboutboul's recent casting as a 'Mad Scientist' type character).

Overall optimistic, but also slightly apprehensive, and that's regarding the involvement of the the Ra's flashback and what implications it has on the story. I have no interest in re-visiting Ra's or the LOS in any major way.

...

You are trolling, aren't you?

I'm optimistic for now. But like others said, we still have a long way to go and a lot of stuff to learn before we can make a valid opinion.

So far, majority of what we've heard of in terms of casting and rumors seemingly points to Bane's story. Unless this movie 90% revolves around Bane and we have Batman, Catwoman, GPCD, etc. all just randomly running circles throughout the movie for the sake of being there. Nolan is not stupid enough to do that so yeah we still have a lot to know about this movie specifically about Batman's and Catwoman's stories.

I'm optimistic, but because Nolan is doing the movie. If it wasn't for this one reason, I'd be neutral. I'm fully confident on him.
The only thing I like so far is the inclusion of Bane.
And the fact that this movie will end the story, making it a trilogy.

It's impossible to say at this point, it's too early. But, I am hopeful that TDKR will be closer in tone and aesthetics to Begins.

I dunno. I'm kinda interested to see what teh Nolanz will do with the LOS if they are in the movie. I would have loved one main supervillain in the whole trilogy, like Darth Vader, Lex Luthor in S1 and 2, or Magneto in X1-3, with other villains also included, with the major confrontation between them in the concluding segment.
Actually, here's a better analogy. Have you seen the new BBC version of Sherlock Holmes? Moriarty is hinted at in the first couple of shows until he takes centre stage in the final one. THAT's what I would love to see in a rebooted Batman - hints at a master villain (Ra's, obviously) in the first two movies, until he emerges in the trilogy closer as the major threat Batman has been waiting to confront all these years.

I agree with Joker's outlook on the LoS.. the return doesn't tickle my fancy..

In my own opinion I'd prefer Bane 90% of the villainy over LoS anyday.

optimistic. probably to a fault. they teach you in school to question everything but nolan is just too good a writer / filmmaker to screw it up. my only concern is possible studio intervention ala sm3. but since nolan doesn't get notes it shouldn't be an issue.

Haven't seen a Nolan movie yet that I didn't find visually and mentally stimulating... Very optimistic.

I think it's a little too early to judge.
