Your Thoughts on Juggernaut?

I understand that creators like to be creative but c'mon. Let's be creative somewhere else and leave the characters alone. Serious fans will be more impressed at how closely these movie houses stick to the original ideas of the Bullpen!

SjN:xmen:

yea i agree and i havent seen pictures of him yet anyone want to tell me where to find them? o and im only worried about the helmet (the bare midriff thing im not liking too well either...) but im more concerned for his voice! im a die hard comic fan but i did watch the show growing up and any other voice for the juggernaut is atrocius! i just cant deal with it!!!!! lets hope this movie is better than we all hope its gonna be though!!!

That is one thing that people shouldnt fear. Vinnie Jones's voice, when he has a non-regional accent on, sounds perfect for the part of Juggernaut....

i have seen the guy that plays the juggernaut and the costume and i have no problem with it .......just the fact that his helmet is stupid looking i mean come on its magnetos helmet made out of concrete or something i mean after i saw the helmet i set out and made my own helmet that is baddass <center>

but yeah they tried and they failed .....horribly:csad:

look was fine although there are better bigger british actors that could have pulled it off, especially ones that could have come across as ginger more...

except for that, everything was wrong, motivation usefulness, attitude, non relation to xavier, the whole lot....

I was about 50/50 on the look of Juggernaut. I understood that you really couldn't do his look faithfully without it looking absolutely stupid.

What did I think of him? I was a bit indifferent towards him on X3 to be honest. As a kid I did love him as a character and his look, but in the film I was more or less feeling "meh" about Juggernaut.

Character wise he could've been expanded upon had the hacks actually tried and did their homework, but instead they decided to make him into the typical muscular no brain guy.

Juggernaut is one of those intelligent vicious characters. I would've loved to have seen or had a reference to his relationship with Xavier, more viciousness from him, and I would've loved to have seen him actually contribute to the final battle instead of getting knocked out by a wall.

So I'm about 50/50 on Juggernaut.

It's understandable they left out the link with Xavier, just as they left out the Wolverine/Deathstrike, Wolverine/Sabretooth and Nightcrawler/Mystique connections in previous movies. It makes it too complex, a bit incestuous and a bit soap-opera-ish, if everyone turns out to be related to everyone else.

I was unsure about Juggernaut's comic lines and the light-hearted approach, though it is pretty much like the cartoon version and some of the comicbook version.

A typical loyalist response. :whatever:

The Wolverine/Sabretooth storyline was very much implied in X1.

The fact that Juggernaut/Xavier are half brothers is what makes their relationship more interesting. It's a Cain and Abel concept that makes it very interesting to read about and see.

It's not complex at all. You just have this mindset like Kinberg who just wants action, action, and no emotion whatsoever.

We don't know if Wolverine/Deathstrikes past was in X2 since she was brainwashed the entire time. Had they actually filmed some scenes of her not under his control it might've been different.

The grabbing of Wolverine's dogtags was a very brief implication of a previous knowledge or familiarity, it might just as easily been a territorial response, a claiming of superiority and victory, like a trophy.

But, as these previous connections were left out of Bryan's movies - which had slower pacing and fewer characters - one can hardly expect the Juggernaut relationship to be prominent in X3.

My response isn't loyalist - i did say i was very unsure of the comedic quality given to the character. It's just that your response is typical hater, in that you will find any reason to dislike what you saw. No doubt the grain of the wood in the panelling in Xavier's mansion was not to your taste this time around. :oldrazz:

Well, I cringed when he spoke, but I loved the Juggernaut/Kitty scene. He was a fun character, but that's all.

Juggernaut needed to be more than just a "fun character". He has a unique story and is an interesting character.

The fact that he's relegated to the typical muscle brained henchmen made me hate the film even more.

He hasn't really been much more than a dumb muscleman in the comics either.

And his unique story of being powered by finding magical gems in the jungle served no purpose in the movie where they were depicting a mutant vs human world.

As I said, not sure about some of the lines, disappointed at no showdown with Colossus... otherwise, he was obviously the Juggernaut character...

Instead of Juggernaut, we got a superstrong brute and nothing more. There was nothing about this guy that reminded me of The Juggernaut. He was just a bruiser.

I didn't care that there was no showdown between him and Colossus. The way I see it is that there would either be a Colossus/juggernaut showdown, Kitty/Juggernaut showdown, or Rogue/Juggernaut showdown. I'm extremely happy with the Kitty one, so no complaints here.

How is it a showdown? It wasn't much of one since he spent most of his time chasing her.

The better showdown would've been Colossus/Juggernaut.

I was a bit disappointed to hear that Juggernaut had been announced as a villain, more so because he was to simply serve as another mere henchman of Magneto&#8217;s, which we had already seen plenty of 6 years ago in X-Men. I was hoping for the addition of a more meaningful and weighty nemesis to add freshness to the villainous dynamic . . . perhaps another malevolent but prominent mutant perspective other than Magneto&#8217;s (or at least one working in conjunction with Magneto&#8217;s).

Juggernaut didn&#8217;t do much save for knocking a few people over while delivering some of the worst dialogue in the trilogy. He did manage one of the better sequences in The Last Stand though, the race with Kitty Pryde. Other than that, he was pretty useless. If Juggernaut was to be in the film, at least ditch the more prominent roles of Arclight, Callisto, and Quills, and give me Mystique. Romijn's Mystique was so much cooler than the three of those characters combined.

Oh the difference is that Wolverine/Deathstrike had a huge fight scene cause they are rival......so as Sabretooth.....got the essence of the comic rivalry there....interaction between Nightcrawler/Mystique was fun to watch...even singer quoted it was a sign to the fans.....can't say that about Juggs and Professor interacted acted at all can't you....no grudge, not nothing

Mystique had her moments in X1, X2 and also in X3. It's not necessarily the end of the character - she could be a clothed, bobbed-hair criminal who eventually forms Freedom Force, as in the comics - she probably still has her fighting skills too, it's just the shapeshifting (and probably the agility) that have gone. Didn't Rebecca make it clear she was tiring of the make-up process? Her true form as revealed in X3 also makes it rather hard to imagine she could be Nightcrawler's mother...

People on here really wanted Juggernaut. I was opposed to the idea, but there seemed an overwhelming demand when it was suggested he could be in it. The majority won. What we did get was pretty obviously Juggernaut. Magneto obviously needed muscle and might for his army. Juggernaut or Blob seemed likely contenders for that role.

Everyone here knows i didnt like the movie, and one of the reasons is Juggernaut, he was a joke and not even a shadow of the comic book character. This guy is meant to be able to go toe-to-toe with the Hulk, as it is, he would struggle against the movie Thing. And dont even get me started on his lines and dumbness.

i agree with BMM. They could've droped everyone and have let Mystique, one of the best villains ever.

It's not even the power levels that bugged me. He had no personality, no level of menace (unless you find the equivalent of constipation to be intimidating), and every word out of his mouth was cringe-worthy.

He made Sabretooth from the first film seem like a spot-on translation. "Scream for me" vs. "I'm the Jeggehnawt, bb*****!"

No contest.

The Juggernaut was fine and differed from his comic counter part just like every other movie character. He beat the ***** out of the unstoppable Wolverine. I just wish he and Colossus would have gotten their fight scene. It would have given both of them more screen time and added a great scene. When Juggernaut plowed through all of the soldiers at Alcatraz, Colossus should have closed line him and the fight ensued. Of course Colossus would loose, but it would still be cool.

Dropped everyone??? An army consisting merely of Magneto and Mystique?
Not much of an army...
