The budgets for all three of films were way too high.
Ah but it could be as close to the finished version as they’ll ever get. Justice League was already compromised from what he originally intended anyway as he had to make script changes during production.
Snyder only has everything to gain from its release, from WB POV they don’t ever need to release it as they’ve moved in. He literally has no bargaining power here.
Snyder didn’t set the budgets though lol.
At any rate, WB might very well have moved on. But AT&T has a streaming service launching that needs original content and a theatrical slate that currently doesn’t exist. Snyder’s Cut is an obvious get for them.
And negotiating power aside, Snyder got every right to want to pass on doing yet another film for WB that isn’t really what he wants. All his fans will feel is further ire toward WB for inhibiting him.
