Justice League Zack Snyder Directing Justice League (The Snyder Cut Edition) - Part 2

Finally rewatching this, but not gonna watch it all at once, I'm gonna probably do it in 3 or 4 viewings to really savor it. I just love how in Snyder's cut the Amazons get a lot of screentime and representation. This is kind of like a defacto Wonder Woman 3 movie in a way, and a damn good one, too.

Good point. Snyder did a lot of world building of Atlantis, Themyscera etc in the movie. And like we know from the storyboards, they would have been an important part of the sequels as well, so it makes sense. After all Diana goes back to Themyscera and becomes the Queen, and Arthur becomes the King of Atlantis etc in the final film.

See, all of this, I want. I really really want. That would be such an incredibly epic thing to do with these characters. Only thing is, would that step on Jenkins and Wans' toes if, in theory, snyder was somehow someway allowed to do more? ( although, technically, Arthur already is king by the end of his solo movie, isnt he?)

Back when Snyder and co were trying their best to respect each other's work and not contradict what they did and yet keep it interconnected(like how Snyder promised Wan not to use the classic suit and show Atlantis), sure. But things have changed now. Technically Wan and Patty have already changed things from Snyder's movies. So it makes sense if Zack goes, "you do your thing, I'll do my thing" like he did with the Snyder cut. And since the multiverse is a thing now, I dont see the problem.

Anyone remember the old initial logo or poster for Aquaman years before it came out? It was changed to have a lot lighter background instead of a murky old world look which I preferred much better for a civilization under the sea.

I wish I could find the 2 Aquaman logos to show side by side. Anyone have this?

One thing I'll give James Wan credit for is he knew his initial take would be hacked to death so stayed ahead of the curve to at least make a crowd pleaser in production as opposed to post-production even it was kind of forced upon him late in the pre-produciton process.

Zack is a visuals visionary. It’s like how cyborg reaches out with his left hand when Silas is about to die just like he reached out with his left hand to try to save his mom. So much stuff like this in his films.

And looks at his left arm when inside the mother boxes.

Interesting, a lot of the Snyder cut people were screaming last week that the WW84 numbers were released days after the premiere and announced the sequel and thus thats why they were so upset. So thats not even true?

Personally I consider it a defacto WW2 ;)

I'm re-watching the end of Justice is Grey to see where Joker says the line. The additional scenes I don't think even appeared. This after press releases concerning additional content, then the interview hits, then this suddenly gets released with little fanfare and missing some of these supposed additional scenes?

It's something to take note of. I mean, no wonder Zach came out with the comment in an interview on Green Lantern being cut at the end in favor of Martian Manhunter... Green Lantern would've fit more with being the front and center addition while J-Onzz lurked in the background monitoring the League as was originally intended...

Anyway, where's the additional scenes in Justice is Grey?

I didn't even know there were supposed to be additional scenes.

Yeah, it was small but the "Justice is Grey" line was a tagline for the Black and White version since it was an original scene supposedly when it originally got announced. I had the impression it would be a month or so before it would be seen but suddenly pops up with zero fanfare a couple days ago at 3 a.m. despite having media articles written about it like half a week before.

Here's the initial article I read with Zach citing extra footage when he talked to a youtuber with screen name Wondermeg via screenrant as snippeted here at CBM: JUSTICE IS GRAY Edition Of ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE Will Include Additional Footage Of The Joker

Another article citing the "We live in a Society" line being cut from the film around March 18th as well:
Justice League Deleted Additional Jared Leto Joker Scene From the Snyder Cut

Here's confirmation that nothing appearing after it was put on streaming earlier than expected with no fanfare all of a sudden: Justice League: Does the "Justice Is Gray" Version Have New Footage?

BTW, Warner Bros included this in their press release couple of days after Wonder Woman released :

On HBO Max, anticipation for “Wonder Woman 1984” was apparent, with nearly half of the platform’s retail subscribers viewing the film on the day of its arrival, along with millions of wholesale subscribers who have access to HBO Max via a cable, wireless, or other partner services. HBO Max also saw the total viewing hours on Friday more than triple in comparison to a typical day in the previous month.

I think fans wanna know about these analytics, while we wait for hard numbers from Nielsen.

A few images that I'm not sure if from deleted scenes as mentioned above or just Zach playing with the camera while Jared was ready to go in character for him:

Anyway, where's the additional scenes in Justice is Grey?

I guess Zack didnt want to add it. Maybe in the blu ray as deleted scenes.

Kinda odd how rushed the JUSTICE IS GRAY drop was. Just dropped out of the blue, and announced 3hr beforehand it was going to be. We all heard how for Zack this was his preferred version, and he didnt even tweet about it. No promotion at all. Film Junkee reached out to Zack about it asking him about if it was weird and Zack responded with a "Hmm". Take that as you will.

I think some stuff is going on behind the scenes, there's a rivalry between WB and HBO Max regarding theatrical vs streaming, about budget allocation, about positioning of HBO max for premium vs ancillary content etc. I think a lot of interesting stuff is going to happen, and we will hear some tea soon.

From pictures above, it seems Batman visits the Joker in his prison cell since Batman needs him for this mission. I'm guessing this is a flashback starting with Joker's cut "we live in a society" line from the trailer then after the flashback ending with the the rumored "Justice is Grey" line.

There's also been rumors about Batman and Joker going on a Mad Max like roadtrip together at some point whether that's before the scene we see in the movie or after can only guess.

I guess Zack didnt want to add it. Maybe in the blu ray as deleted scenes.

Perhaps Zach got irritated by Ann's interview and it just dropped but he's kept at it so long I don't know if that seems likely... I think someone just got petty and told HBOmax to drop it after seeing Zach talking about it around the 18th not to mention the added pictures.

They're trying to put a lid on things it seems to me and Zach's open to releasing new material to trickle out the hype.

Its so obvious that WB are angry about this movie doing well, and boy will they be triggered the day Zack drops the GL bombshell. The internet will have a meltdown for sure. If Zack was petty, and really wanted to f--- with WB, and play the game they play with him, he would drop the GL picture the day WB announces their own GL. Walter Hamada will probably self combust lol. If people say it was intentional, I will go around telling them its not a conspiracy :oldrazz:

He should. I don't think he will though as he'll let the mystery sit and WB will have to keep having to be asked about it then.

The Green Lantern scene would've tied together the Atlanteans, People from the Stars, Amazons, and Man in the present just like what happened in the flashback scene (instead of Greek Gods of the past now represented by superhero's of the present such as Batman striving to be a God or Superman striving to be a man or perhaps even in some sense the Flash and Cyborg becoming more than a man as well).

Martian Manhunter I think belonged more in the background collecting information as he was doing disguised as Martha or General Calvin Swanwick until his time to unveil himself to the League (but to the audience sooner as I liked seeing him in this movie) came about in a later sequel. Still, it was nice to see him play his card early but he was more so a lone presence as opposed to a whole contingent from the stars.

Zach asked WB when they were planning to make Green Lantern rhetorically then posited on social media they can cast theirs he can cast his. I mean it didn't seem like anything more than WB asserting themselves again from an authoritative standpoint with little other reason.

Edit: I think the higher-ups at WB want to feel like they're getting their due congratulations for making the film themselves through their okaying it hence providing a bit of push to Zach's pull.:whatever:

WB Reportedly Wants Robert Pattinson To Be The Only Batman In Cinemas

MuLtIvErSe hur dur....

No doubt Jason Kilar would have liked to report the viewership number for ZSJL, but it seems petty internal politics has prevented him from doing that.

They don't want this (ZSJL) to be seen as great success, they are certainly downplaying the success and hoping that people will look at other properties GvK, TSS trailers.

The JL Grey with added scenes would have boosted HBO Max viewership numbers, but no they don't want that, pettiness continues.

I'm just happy that Zack is moving on to Netflix and non DC properties, he has suffered enough.

Also, isnt that pretty much a given anyway? Of course they want Pattinson to be their main Batman just like they want Gal to be their only Wonder Woman.

So the last few pages are speculation based on known and awful clickbait sites...come on people.

If you get your info from comicbook.com, WGTC or the like it is best to just assume they are making it up and then ignoring it.

Hopefully we can get some kind of stats this week as to how well this is doing, I have a gut feeling this is getting more views than WW84. The buzz seems much better than it.

Despite it being so long it's infinitely more re-watchable than WW84.
