Justice League Zack Snyder Directing Justice League (The Snyder Cut Edition) - Part 2

WB is done with Snyder thats the problem, they made that decision a long time ago and released this thing gritting their teeth. For them the fact that its doing well is just a stroke of luck and this changes nothing regarding their plans going forward—whatever those plans are.
There is no plans, other than random announcements which may or may not come to fruition.

For anyone who watches or watched Wrestling, I feel like WB are Vince McMahon and Zack Snyder is Bret Hart. He was loyal to the company, worked hard but he was a sacrificial lamb in a bad situation. It doesn’t quite work as an analogy on the whole but I feel Zack like Bret was treated terribly in a situation where he didn’t need to be.

People kinda exaggerated the underperformance of King of Monsters. Having said that, despite loving GvK i think it benefited from not having any real competition. Same with BoP.

It's weird seeing GvK doing well after people swore the monsterverse was dead after KoM. People are wild.

I thought it was mostly dead as well, but they were leaving the potential best for last. And they did a good job of seeding curiosity of where this could go due to a certain part of the movie.

Honestly both Godzilla films were mediocre...Skull Island in all its lunacy was a better film and the Kong parts of GvK were better than the Godzilla parts.

GvK works because it leans into everything people want to see...monsters fighting each other. The "story" is basic paint by numbers tuff (even the "surprise" which was predictable 10 minutes in) which is perfect. The only change I would have made is cutting Millie Bobby Brown out because I find her unwatchable outside of Season 1 of Stranger Things.

The film is definitely benefitting from the Pandemic...but if we are going to be honest so is ZSJL. If something good comes from the Pandemic is maybe people will appreciate variety in things. Homogenization was becoming too much the norm and maybe now people will be so excited just to get back tot he theater they might try something new. I think that helped ZSJL a lot and it is a good thing. The DiSney-zation of Hollywood (not just Marvel stuff, and not just Di$ney they are just the most successful at it) was getting tedious.

Why is #RestoretheMonsterVerse trending, exactly?

Did WB announce this as the final film or something? Seems like they'd be happy to make more with these numbers.

Because fans are playing off of the Snyderverse and a lot of people believe that this will be the last film in the franchise since the director stated he cut a credits scene that teased a possible sequel.

Just 3 months ago it was "releasing it on HBO Max will be the death of the franchise"

agree. nice to see these two go at it in high Q production value but as a film ...
oooof.

agree about Millie too. I’m sure she is a nice girl and can act ok but for me she seems to be trying too hard. Not horrible. I’m sure it’s fine for this type of film. I’m sure it’s doing great worldwide.
In non pandemic theaters. IDK.
Have watched it in 10 min increments. Not finished yet. Not captivating for me. I want to see what they do and what happens out of curiosity but not compelled.

Just finished.

I wonder how many Godzilla vs. Kong fans are also as a novel idea fans of other movies perhaps? :o (Yeah, the headlines reading they're taking a cue from Snyder fans as far as asking for another movie is odd one would separate fans of each movie as totally distinct subsections of humanity but oh well...).

A lot of buildings falling over and not engendering a bunch of complaints like MOS is admirable. Once 1 headline hits then of course some non-fans will sprinkle little references to it triggering some fans to give up being a fan and homogenizing their views with someone else's to acheive "likes" still. That's called being a tool.:cwink:

I don't even know what we're talking about anymore.

Anyways the Snyder Cut was a decent film. Worth the wait.

The Godzilla vs. Kong movie is great. I am happy it's doing well.

The Rottentomatoes predictions before a majority of their reviews came out on the Snyder Cut of Justice League was annoying (I see critical reviews centered around pre-notioned theatrical conventions more often than not). Also, this whole what tracking numbers mean what or why certain numbers are being reported for 1 movie and not the other is open for discussion from multiple angles.

I am not going to simply hate on 1 group of fans who like the Snyder cut and don't go with the majority of people on the SHH boards that dislike it. I will criticize it too but I'm not playing political games as far as movie interest goes.

I'm taking a break from these boards for a bit. I like some of the postings for the most part but so snarky and stonewalley it's just not my cup of tea.

Truth > Inference. Validity+Cogency > Framed context/Agenda or trying to fit in.

I am looking forward to Ann Sarnoff coming out on Monday addressing toxic fandom of Monster Universe, which concluded its franchise this weekend :funny: This is marketing 101, how you do PR and hype up your company and latest hit movie right?

So, question for you guys, I definitely am not one to latch on to conspiracies but...what gives with Mamoa's absolute silence on this all of a sudden? This was the guy who on the Aquaman press tour was telling interviewers "release the f***ing Snyder cut!" He's a big reason why this whole thing started gaining traction and the guy literally seems in love with Snyder so why the lack of public support now? Do you think one of the suits got to him and told him not to? Ben and Gal I could understand not really being involved for various reasons but even Cavill showed support on release week on his social media but nothing form Jason, Zack's biggest cheerleader.

It’s weird that Jason would suddenly go radio silent, especially drawing closer to the films release.

Perhaps someone at WB did have a talk with him about it. Similar to Gal, this character was his breakthrough role and I doubt he wants to do anything to compromise that.

Jason did his bit to get the SC out and that was after the release and success of Aquaman when he had the biggest exposure.

He also dunked on Johns, Berg, WB and that trade with the fake Frosty the snowman report last year. Surprise, mainstream media/trades lie their ass off too.

So I think he has done enough and WB probably threatened him with Aquaman 2.

Apparently he might get quizzed during Dune’s press junkets, so we will see what happens.

Him, Gal and Ben are probably taking the path of speaking up to get the goals achieved (2019 Nov) + (2020 announcement), and when the film is released, they let their work do the talking, and they don’t need to talk more publicly to rub Hamada and Emmerich on the face esp if Gal and Jason still have projects contracted to them and they need to think about their own team as well.

And again Ray Fisher is probably the spokesperson for all of them, the cast and the crews abused behind the scenes.

edit: we know Ben is tight with Zack and he is probably done with WB as well, so if even he is not talking, it means all that public gesture around the release is not that important. Why risk more wrath of big corps when a bunch of blue checks and press are doing the promotion and praising for Zack already.

It’s interesting for Henry to chip in tho in contrast, either he uses this to promote his chances of getting back into the cape, or he is done with WB as well, remember he was pretty quiet on D Day in 2019 probably still trying to negotiate with WB.

So you DO think someone at WB talked to him about promoting this then, right? Again, I REALLY dont wanna be conspiratorial, its just....this does not smell right to me. This is like back when Fandome happened back in August and Mamoa didn't say or do squat to promote it or EVEN appear on the Snyder cut panel. Everyone was saying, "oh Jason's probably just too busy to make a Zoom appearance or an instagram post about it," but we later found out there was bad blood between and him and WB due to the Frosty thing and thats why he didn't appear.

But ya I believe WB threatened him and his agents and/or Wan told him to stand down for the sake of Aquaman 2 especially he had already won the fight for RTSC. Not worth more conflicts right now.

but if the restore movement blows up later he will probably chime in like Ben and Gal did on D Day

If you wanna get all deep end conspiracy then maybe WB unusually publicly report that The Trench is cancelled to put chill in Jason’s spine :funny::funny:

I am shocked no clickbait sites are making this connection lol, so many geek clicks sitting right there

That would be a bigger blow to Wan technically. They already torpedoed 2 of his projects, the awesome Swamp Thing, and now The Trench. Having said that I doubt Wan would really be threatened by that since imo he's a pretty in demand producer/director. Which actually makes the excuse regarding The Trench even more baffling tbh.
