Zombies Heading to The CW with "Awakening"

"Pre-dead"? How does that even work? Wouldn't that just make them normal humans, since it means before they're dead?

I'm calling it right now, supermodel zombies!

With the latest details from Bloody-Disgusting, I no longer have any interest in this show:

Bill Laurin and Glenn Davis' hourlong spec centers on two combative sisters who come of age amid the beginning of a zombie uprising. Word has it that the series follows thousands of zombies living "normal lives" among the living (also known as the "pre-dead"). The two worlds collide and cause war between the living and the dead.

Zombies trying to live normal lives? What the ****? Zombies don't try to be normal and fit in, they ****ing eat people!

This isn't a zombie show at all. Count me among those not watching when this premieres.

Okay, now this is just a profoundly stupid idea!

Amazing idea CW.

Why waste time developing some kind of spin-off from your network's most successful show ever, when we can watch a show about zombies just trying to live a normal life?

I LOL'd at the terms "zombie uprising." It's not an "apocalypse" or an "outbreak." But an "uprising"??? What? Are the zombies in this world unhappy with their political representation?

Waitaminute...Pre-dead zombies?...How...Huh. Thats just sounds laughable

Huge zombie fan, so i'll give it a try. but since it's the CW...which to me is the ghetto area of TV stations...it'll likely suck. :)

This show will probably debut to 2 million viewers and by season end be at 0.9-1.1 mil and get canned.

...

But after reading the plot, 1.5 debut and a 0.8 by end of season. Total viewers, not demo numbers.

When will the CW finally die? since you know...it's currently "pre-dead". ;)

Supernatural is the only thing they have going for them.

Hopefully it dies soon after it ends.

In terms of ratings, Vampires and Smallville has it beat. However the DVD sales and reruns on TNT help it out quite a bit.

Script review:

While not exactly Emmy worthy this is the strongest of the three CW fantasy scripts and thus the most likely show to get the post-Vampire Diaries slot next fall. It follows EMO zombie lawyer Jenna in denial trying to be human in a relationship with a human whose father is a zombie hunter. He recently discovered his father is a zombie hunter but isn't aware Jenna is a zombie. There's a Zombie Hunter working for the government who keeps hunting the zombies throughout the pilot -through their facebook friends lists! It's more True Blood than Vampire Diaries in its setting and tone. It is very different from The Walking Dead. Zombies can transform from human form into full decay form at will and there are zombie parties where they kidnap humans and eat them while dancing to Michael Jackson's thriller. Jenna's parents and sister are also Zombies but are more accepting of their zombie identity.

That just sounds terrible. The fact both True Blood and Vampire Diaries are brought down by the sheer mention of that mess. :(

Between this mess and Summit's romantic zombie movie (a girl falls in love with the zombie that ate her boyfriend), my motto of "Everything is better with zombies" has been proven wrong.

Pilot Scoop: Titus Welliver has an Awakening

The CW’s zombie pilot Awakening just came to life in a big way: The formidable Titus Welliver has joined the cast!

The thriller tells the story of two sisters — played by Meredith Hagner (FX’s Lights Out) and Lucy Griffiths (BBC’s Robin Hood) — who face off during a zombie uprising.

Welliver will play a mysterious figure with piercing eyes and a dark overcoat who is hunting the zombies behind the first wave of the awakening.

In other woords, a total badass.

The Lost/Deadwood/Sons of Anarchy star is currently recurring on The Good Wife as Chris Noth’s onscreen nemesis, prosecutor Glenn Childs.

Oh, Titus.... you can do better than this. :csad:

Oh, well, now I might have to watch the episodes where Titus pops up.

this has potential to be near Supernatural level. especially because it invovles siblings fighting against evil/demonic-like forces.

This won't be anywhere near Supernatural level. It will only be CW's idiotic try on a female version of Supernatural mixed with high school drama/angst mixed with zombies that look like they passed through America's Next Top Model first.
