🤛 Official UFC Thread - Part 8

I hope he gets real jail time or better yet, his work visa revoked. But at the very least, he is about to lose a good chunk of that Mayweather payday.

I would have no problem if he got deported tomorrow.

I am curious how Dana is going to handle this. He likes to explode right out the gate with this stuff, but a month or two down the line, he is suddenly back on the fighter's side.

Dana White has been far too lax on McGregor for too long. Case in point his reaction to the Bellator MMA meltdown. It's no wonder Conor McGregor did this after getting off of that incident scot-free.

He jumped the cage, shoved a licensed MMA referee, and he also assaulted a Bellator MMA official.

Update from Ariel Helwani:

Nothing against the man, but it almost seems like he's making excuses for Conor McGregor and sensationalizing him off of this incident.

So with this incident, how long before the UFC sends somebody to New Orleans to pick up Brock Lesnar after he drops the Universal Title?

LOL. I'm sure Dana White and Ari will have front row seats.

They still need Brock to serve his suspension.

Yeah, he'd also have to re-enter the USADA testing pool. In short, if he does fight again, it probably wouldn't happen until early 2019 at the earliest.

Everything he said sounded pretty accurate though. He’s definitely the best and most reliable source for MMA news.

Things are not looking good for the UFC at this moment.

So the only draw at this point is Cyborg?

I'd be curious if the Conor incident is the talk of the former UFC fighters doing pro wrestling this weekend.

Well today on the MMA Beat, he was saying Dana White only started talking about stripping McGregor of the title this week for the first time.

That's not accurate.

“As long as Conor is willing to fight by March, we could do Khabib versus Tony and then the winner fights Conor for the title,” White said. “Of, if Conor wants to sit out until next fall, then we’d have to make Khabib versus Tony for the title, not the interim title.”

I think Helwani is an unbelievably diligent worker. He's out there getting the story or interview before everyone else, and that's why he wins awards.

I think UFC handled his dismissal the wrong way over the Lesnar thing. I understand why they were upset, but the way they did it made them look really bad.

Meanwhile, The Mac Life people, credentialed media, were the ones who let McGregor and his entourage into the building before today's attack. Meanwhile, I haven't been able to get a UFC credential for five years.

Just heard about this on the radio this morning. There is no other word to describe Conor McGregor other than idiot. Completely senseless destruction/attack of a bus with no sort of substantial logic behind it that has ended up needlessly injuring 2 or 3 people in the process. Must be looking to give away some of the fortune he has amassed because I'd be very surprised if there wasn't several lawsuits aimed in his direction after this. Not to mention the criminal aspect of it, he should face exactly the same punishment as any normal average Joe that thinks it's a smart idea to smash up a bus with people on it.

There's already a dialogue in the media excusing what he did because it was in "retaliation" to Khabib confronting Artem Lobov and ganging up on him.

I don't think what Khabib did was OK, but it's still not an excuse for what Conor did. Khabib should not have been allowed to get up close to Lobov and touch him. Intimidate him maybe, but they should've been kept separated. That still doesn't excuse what Conor McGregor did here.

What Khabib & his cronies did to Lobov was cowardly to say the very least considering there was 5 or 6 people with Khabib & Lobov was on his own. It even got to the point that he actually has his hand on his neck & even slaps his head.

That being said there really is no excusing McGregor's actions. I'm all for having your boys back & all inside or outside of the cage, but this was plain hooliganism, mindless & took things way too far.

Meanwhile, The Mac Lifepeople, credentialed media, were the ones who let McGregor and his entourage into the building before today's attack. Meanwhile, I haven't been able to get a UFC credential for five years.

I'd assume, judging by the name, they're owned or in association with Conor himself, which is no doubt the only reason they're credentialed.. well they were I would imagine those privileges have been swiftly revoked so maybe you'll get your chance yet.

They're becoming the real life version of the ****ing wwe

Well that's what angers me about this. They get those privileges because of an association with McGregor, and now they pull this. It's maddening. Meanwhile, ever since Ronda Rousey came into the UFC, I haven't been able to get a media credential into a UFC event. And these fly-by-night websites are given better access. I'm no Ariel Helwani or John Morgan, but I've been covering this sport a long time, and I've interviewed countless fighters.

That Simpsons meme is coming to mind right now for UFC 223

Didn't see the Rose/Joanna fight as as unanimous 49-46. Thought Rose took it 3 rounds to 2 & thought it might have been a split. Good contest between them.

Al Iaquinta gave a very good account of himself, stuffed a lot of takedown attempts & showed good heart. He really further exposed the biggest hole in Khabib's game the same way Michael Johnson did. If he fights any sort of competent striker & can't get the fight to the ground hes gonna get slept.

He's just such a savage though in getting hold of guys & when he's got them down he mauls them.

Khabib does not have a good gas tank because he has to cut so much weight. Perhaps now that he knows what 5 rounds feels like he will be better prepared. That said if he wants to stand and trade with guys like a GSP and Woodley when he eventually goes up to 170 he will be in trouble.

Rose did prove that her title win wasn't a fluke.

I hate that Brock is likely getting a title shot. The game has passed him by, his last fight he beat Hunt big deal. Before that he lost 2 fights in a row.

What if Cain feels ready to fight and comesback before him? Wouldn't he deserve a shot before sorry Lesnar.

Rankings don't matter clearly if a chump like Covington can also get shot up the ranks over Usman who has a long impressive win streak.

I don't know what Joanna is going to do after this loss. She can't blame a weight cut or a fluke, she just has to try and improve take 1-2 non title fights to get back in. Not like she can pull a Rhonda and just leave unless she has an actual back up plan.
