🄊 The Official Boxing Thread!!! - Part 5

Fury wasn't at his best. I'd say he was at 70% of what he could be, he was heavier but not stronger like he was in the 2nd fight. I could see it from his body composition, bigger around the mid-section and with less muscle around the back, shoulders and arms. I think he trained more and better for the 2nd fight, him and his team all admitted that the camp and lead up to the fight hadn't been according to plan.

I think Fury was sluggish and reckless at times. I feel like this fight was more brawn than brain, but still Fury pulled the W because he's simply a better fighter/boxer in most departments. Fury has Wilder's number. Fury's sheer size, skill and determination are Wilder's kryptonite.

I also think that Wilder is a problem for most fighters out there. If you're not defensively sound, can move and apply pressure then you'll probably get taken out. He's in the Top 5 for sure. I think Usyk would probably find an antidote for Wilder, otherwise i don't see anyone capable of taking him out. Maybe AJ but i kind of doubt it and Whyte could apply pressure but he lacks the defensive capability and skill to avoid those heavy shots.

Whole day of walking at NYCC and fight ill say this i got a whole ton of respect for wilder after this still would likecto see him show more sportsmanship and stay for interview maybe he couldn't who knows but I thought Fury got away with a couple of headlock uppercuts which coming from him are life altering would like to see this again and see if that was the case Lennox mentioned it wilder should not put his head down and be open for uppercut but man maybe too much wine. I'm drunk texting this so forgive the rambling
Shame about the sportsmanship side but yeah, he certainly kept going and taking a ton of punishment. Those uppercuts didn’t look legal and the ref should have spotted them.

So I wasn't imaginaning them i mean Fury is my guy but I thought he got away with alot of them hey those tricks to the trade I guess but for the ref to not even give him a warning I thought was a little tad suspicious no secret Wilder is not that well liked he didn't so himself any favors the way he acted afterwards im still holding out thst he was not all there cause he got torched those last 3 rds hopefully he releases a statement and not start the excuse tour 2.0

These last 2 fights I think Wilder is damaged goods. He should not even consider going after Fury again he needs to do a goodbye tour for his fans but he can forget about the title picture. He barely could make back to locker room seen a few YouTube videos of attendees and he was wobbly way after fight was over he probably needs a year off before he fights again

Fury has already said he is done fighting Wilder now, even while handing out compliments to him. Wilder vs Usyk, AJ, Whyte etc would still be interesting IMO and he would still have a good chance against else.

Great heavyweight scrap, the pair of them showed big heart & a massive set of bollocks that I haven't seen in a heavyweight boxing contest in years, both of them laid everything they had out in that ring.

Wilder in particular in that 4th & 5th round, seemed to throw everything he had at Fury to put him down for good & it's probably what led to him being finished. I think by about the 8th Fury didn't seem to be so worried about getting tagged so maybe he could feel his power & stamina had waned so was able to put more pressure on him which led to Wilder eating a lot of hard, heavy shots in those final 3 rounds.

Both of them got away with a few questionable punches in the clinch I thought with punches to the back of the head & a few questionable uppercuts. But I thought for the most part the referee kept it under control as he did warn them both individually & collectively a few times without feeling the need to deduct any points.

All in all, Fury fought this fight a lot more aggressively & paid the price with getting dropped twice but ultimately got the result & finish he wanted for taking that gamble, he's just a better all round fighter than Wilder.

I doubt we'll ever see Fury fight Wilder again. I agree Wilder should take some time off but I don't think he needs to necessarily be done, I think there are still 2 or 3 fights he could have that could be lucrative for him.

Wilder looked like he had a concussion after the first knockdown. That "dent" in his head probably really damaged his boxing career and sadly it maybe over.

I'm assuming this will get replayed next week on showtime? I need to see not exhausted and full of wine lol.

Dam u covid for this postponing this fight to comic con day i only bought Saturday badges this year couldn't even stay for the cosplay contest :cmad:

He got beat bad the last 2 fights those beatings take years off your career he took severe punishment in the first fight. This trilogy took 10 yrs off his life imo. I hope he does before something tragic happens I love boxing and nothing shatters my feelings more than seeing retired boxers with head trauma

Yeah. How I would like to see a pension established for fighters so they at least have some financial resources later in life. There's just so many of them, it would be difficult. It's not like the NBA. NFL, MLB.

Whyte - Wallin (Oct 30th)
The winner should face Tyson Fury.

Dillian Whyte will have an interesting fight against a tall southpaw fighter, who got known for his fight against Tyson Fury in when he managed to open 2 big cuts in Fury's eye lid earlier in that fight, which in turn made it a 12 rounds slugfest that Fury managed to prevail. If not for that massive cut Fury would've probably taken out Wallin though. It's also worth mentioning that at the time Fury was still trained by Ben Davidson and he was a much more defensive style fighter and that performance by Fury was what actually triggered the exit of Ben Davison and the hiring of the attacking minded SugarHill Steward.

I think if Whyte is diligent with his boxing and inside fighting he should be able to pull the win by knockout. Wallin's best shot is to try and get a points decision by making it more of a boxing match, to keep it long and try to capitalize on his skill and southpaw stance to puzzle Whyte, who in turn should want to apply smart pressure and make it more of a brawl.

Percentage-wise i would say it's probably a 65-35% for Whyte. If Whyte manages to win then he'll be the one to have a crack at Fury who really wants that undisputed fight against Joshua/Usyk but i don't think he'll manage to swerve this WBC Whyte fight. If Whyte loses the Wallin fight then their rematch would go ahead and that could probably give enough wiggle room for Fury to secure the undisputed fight.

Apparently the Whyte - Wallin fight got canceled due to Whyte suffering a "shoulder injury".
As some other people have pointed out it seems to me that Whyte is basically dodging that unnecessary fight so he can get his long awaited shot at Fury's WBC title.

Oh meant to post the above in the football thread but still mildly relevant here lol.

Canelo has nothing else to do imo he should be retiring in the next year or 2 I think

Yup. Same thought after last night. I think he fights GGG one more time tho, but that will be for HUGE amounts of money and probably in Dubai, heh. Cinnamon really has nothing else to prove, and no real point to take on tougher challenges especially at 175.

Why would he fight GGG again? Haven't heard that from anybody anywhere. In order to get Canelo to the table u need to bring something he wants. GGG has nothing he wants but more excuses

Can retire as a great. He’s proven it all.

I was so happy to see Teofimo Lopez lose this weekend. Dude had ONE BIG WIN and it went straight to his head. Not one successful title defense! #Notakeoverthisyear
