1,2 Freddy's coming for you: Welcome to the elm street thread

I only like the original and the 3rd one. "Freddy's dead" is unwatchable, "Dreamchild" blows chunks and I hate Freddy's revenge, it's slow and lame. I also didn't care for "A New Nightmare", I hate it when desperate horror sequels say that the other movies were just movies. Like Blair Witch 2 and the last HellRaiser movie, I'm cheating a bit with that one but they did question rather the cinibites were real.

 

asome thread anyway i like all the freddy movies exepet New Nightmare.
Other than that there all fun to wach.

 

Like many I love the original and the 3rd is VERY good, it gave you characters you really cared about which is rare for a standard horror movie. It was painful to watch Freddy kill them.

After that they went too far with the comedy side of things ... Freddy came out of the shadows and killed for fun.

FvJ was a return to form but was that the end of the road for the character?

I hope not.

Probably the same reason Amy Steel didnt reprise her role from Friday the 13th Part 2 in Friday the 13th Part 3. Just wasnt interested in the direction the series was going into. Which with NOES 2, was definately homo-erotic in many respects. I think Heather returned for the 3rd NOES more or less due to Wes Craven's association. If not for that, I doubt we would have seen Nancy return in reg NOES continuity at all.

 

the best nightmare is number 1, then 5, then 4, then FreddyVS Jason, part2, then New Nightmare (blech) and my least fav is the one im surprised every1 seems to love... part 3 (dream warriors).

and Freddys Dead is a lot of fun to watch when stoned

It was kind of boring IMO... I can kinda get why people like it so much, I mean Nancys back and the idea of the kids fighting back is cool... but in my opinion it just hasnt aged well, and i remember finishing watching and just being like... "meh." I just have a lot more fun watching the others... but like I said, I get why people like it.

And I didn't dig New Nightmare cuz it was in the real world, and just didn't do it for me.

almost any other Nightmare fan seems to hold it high on a pedastal... eh. Whatev, different strokes to move the world.

 

i didnt know new nightmare was so hated. to me along with freddy vs jason brought freddy back to his creepy sadistic roots

 

new nightmare isnt hated, a lot hold it high on the pedastal of being great. my prob w/it was it wasnt REALLY freddy... but yes FvJ pwnd and took freddy back to his true, dark but still funny roots.

 

I like part 1 and 3. Part 4 I find amusing because I like Kincaid. Part 2 I watch because the homoeroticism is completely ridiculous. Plus the party scene is awesome. That kid Jesse was such a tool.

 

part 2 is good just cuz its so damn amusing, and its kinda neat cuz freddy is still a dark character, and not a jokey guy (which isnt a bad thing overall)

 

I like Freddy the jokester, but nothing tops the predatory Freddy of pt. 1.

 

agreed, predator Freddy is amazing... 1,2 and FvJ nailed that version of the Fredster!

 

New Nightmare in the works from New Line, Im sure you all know. And FvJ2 has been scrapped.

Nightmare 1 is a classic. I always thought 2 and 3 were hilarious.

 

Part 1 - Sheer awesomeness. Freddy is dark, creepy, and keeps to the shadows alot. The kills are great. Nancy is a superb heroine.
Part 2 - I liked it. The idea of Freddy invading someone's body so he can get into the real world and murder was pretty cool. The party massacre was fantastic. "You are all my children now".
Part 3 - Probably the second best of the series. Nancy's back. Her father is back. All the victims are sympathetic, and you actually care for most of them. Kristin is a great character.
Part 4 - Again, like part 2, I liked it. Not the best, but it had a quality that I couldn't help enjoy. Alot of the characters were pretty cool, like Alice and Rick. It also had one of the most outrageously entertaining deaths of the series: the girl being turned into a cockroach and Freddy squashing her!
Part 5 - Didn't care for this one at all. Freddy was too campy, the characters were annoying, and Freddy invading an unborn baby's dreams was just BS.
Freddy's dead - Utter crap. The video game death bit just showed how bad it had gotten.
New Nightmare - Interesting idea, but the premise of Freddy coming alive from movies did nothing for me at all. Even 'Nancy' couldn't save this one.

 

overall AGREED. i love the PREMISE of #5, the baby thing... but it was horribly executed. freddys dead, again, great premise terrible execution. and i just plain dislike the entire idea/premise of NEW NIGHTMARE. but 1-4 and FvJ were awesome.

 

recently bought the ultimate collection... always liked 1,3,4, and 5, but my absolute fav is New Nightmare. Much darker than the others.

 

what is everyones general consensus on FREDDY vs JASON? me, i loved it.
