1,2 Freddy's coming for you: Welcome to the elm street thread

The more I give this some thought, the less I care if Englund returns. I really think someone else could step in and make it work. I'd want the character to remain the same, but I think another actor could do the job.

Not really interested in a Nightmare remake or any Nightmare movie without Englund.

I wish New Line would release the Freddy's Nightmares TV Series onto DVD.

I do believe that someone else can play Krueger, but this is just shocking news. I grew up on Freddy and Robert has always been the man behind the nightmare. R.I.P. Freddy Krueger 1984-2003

I'm liking the idea of Freddy without R.E. No remake should be done. There is no need for it at this time.

FVJ2!!!

hell no... the first one was okay, but I would rather see a reboot.

Why don't they just do a prequel, dammit?!? The first film establishes Krueger was a child killer before the parents of Elm Street decided to torch him. I'd think after all the supernatural dream killing they've done with Freddy, seeing him as a normal serial killer in a real wolrd capacity, especially if his specialty is children, that's a lot more terrifying than anything they could do with a remake or continuation film.

Did you like the TV series?,

I thought it was alright, couldve been better..

Someone at AICN had suggested Ben Foster for Freddy. After seeing the roles he protrayed in 3:10 to Yuma and 30 Days of Night(not a good movie but he took the good part in it) I think its a great idea.

great choice; heres hoping the ANOES remake is at least moderately good.

Whomever replaces Robert I don't want him to be 6'5 and 230 pounds. I hate these huge guys in masks who just stalk. Englund(and Freddy)were around 5'10'. That's a good height for me.

Man, was I excited when I first heard the rumors of the prequel film. F'n rumors man.

I agree. I wasn't crazy about the massive Michael Myers in the 'Halloween' remake and I'm not keen on a massive Freddy. Freddy's not about brawn.

I agree with you on Freddy. I didn't mind the massive Michael (I was sceptical at first) but that definitely isn't Freddy. A huge massive Freddy just wouldn't be right at all.

Didn't they kinda go back and forth with his origin in the last few Elm Street movies?

Mother was a nun who was raped by inmates in an asylum, was adopted and abused as a child, people thought he was a freak; got married, had a daughter, and killed his wife when she find out what he was really doing.

Nothing went back and forth as far as his origin goes.

As the series went on, more and more of his origin was just elaborated on. With "Freddy's Dead" revealing the most with the memories scenes, and his daughter. The fact that he was a child murderer never changed.

If we're not getting a prequel, then I don't want Freddy's past discussed that much in this remake. We all know what happened, and I can see maybe some flashbacks of his trial, but learn the lesson from the Halloween remake. I don't want to see Krueger's childhood. From his late 20's/early 30's is fine, but nothing before that.

What's wrong with the mother revealing Freddy's past just like the original?

That scene was great anyway.

huh ---
i want nothing BUT origin

I want an origin story too,but I just don't want them to show Freddy as a little kid. Rather pick up his story in his 20's or 30's. Seeing him as a little kid would ruin a little bit of the mystery. Or,if they do show him as a kid I want as little footage as possible. That's part of the reason why many fans disliked Zombie's Halloween. It revealed TOO much.

I'd just like to see a prequel pick up while he has already started murdering children. It just shows the events that lead to his mortal demise. The final couple killings, the failed trial, the townspeople going ape **** and what happens immediately following his death.
