1,2 Freddy's coming for you: Welcome to the elm street thread

Whoa. Was it a dubbed version? I never saw any version of the movie that didn't begin with Freddy's Dead as the title card.

Wasn't a dubbed version, but the boxset was a crappier version of the boxset that was realized a few years back. A new nightmare does't come in it either, which came in the better boxset I think.

Freddy's Glove was in Evil Dead?
In Evil Dead 2 when Ash goes to saw his hand off, it's hanging above the door. Legend has it's the original glove from the first film, but it is not. That glove went AWOL a long time before Evil Dead 2.

Now I'll have to go re-watch Evil Dead 2 for that.

But now ... it makes me wish even MORE so than BEFORE that we would have got a "Ash vs Freddy vs Jason" flick before Jason and Friday the 13th was rebooted.

Freddy's glove in Evil Dead 2.
The Necronomicon Ex-Mortis appearing in Jason goes to Hell.

If only all of that was a sign of what was to come ...

werd, I was just going to mention the great set up to a sequel with ash. I heard evil dead 4 is being made and bruce is getting back into the role, maybe after that new line will realise he's still got it and make a sequel. but from what I've heard a good idea is to have ash summon freddy and jason from the book of the dead accidently, and having to send them back to hell.

It's a shame Sam Raimi didn't allow the film to be made. The script is floating somewhere out there, and it was made into a pretty good comic anyway. It was about an S-Mart opening up in Crystal Lake with Ash as the manager. Freddy resurrected Jason again and told him he would bring back his mother if Jason helped him find the necronomicon in Jason's old house. They all ended up fighting with Freddy using the book to plunge everyone on the planet in deep sleep. It would have been awesome!

I didn't really like the comic book series. It might look better on film, though. Who knows?
I did like(and had the idea myself)of Freddy using the Book of the dead to re-enter the dream state more powerful than ever. In FvJ you had "Demon" Freddy. In FvJvAsh you could have "Evil Dead" Freddy. Freddy with white eyes and a more "dead" look would be awesome to see.

I've seen ED2 millions of times, how did I miss the glove, must check NOW!

Actually,I think the glove shows up twice in the film. Once above the door when Ash takes his girlfriend's severed head into the workshed, and then later on when he goes into the fruit cellar to get back the pages of the book. When he opens the door to where all the pipes are,you can see the glove hanging on the wall to the left of the door.
I also remember that the glove was stolen off the set of Nightmare 3. I can recall Fangoria mentioning it in an article back in 87' and wondering if Sam Raimi was the one who stole it. lol

Just recieved the part 6 glove a few seconds ago and it's simply an amazing thing. I will post pictures of it as soon as I can. Ken is having a sale right now where he is selling all of his gloves for only 100$

That's pretty badass. Where will you display it?

I'll probably try to make some glove stand to display it. And of course I'll make sure it's safe. I wouldn't want to damage it. The maker of this glove put alot of time and sweat into making it and I don't want to endanger his work.

Platinum Dunes Finally Onboard 'Nightmare on Elm Street'

All summer while Platinum Dunes was out promoting their remake of FRIDAY THE 13TH, word spread like wildfire that they had yet to be brought on to produce New Line Cinema's remake of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. SpookyDan just got off the phone with Dunes Producer Brad Fuller who explains that they are now finally involved. " We ARE doing the movie," Full tells Bloody-Disgusting. "We just closed the studio deal and we want to be filming by summer 2009. The script is being worked on now. We just came onto it so we are still figuring out what to do with the story." Watch for more on this as it comes in.

I know everyones gonna ***** and groin about this, but i think this is gonna be freaking sweet. They're gonna make freddy scary like they've done with Leatherface and Jason. and now Freddy!

I'm excited as you can tell.:woot:

Sounds great, but I would like to know if Robert Englund is going to reprise his role or someone else is considered.

Not to get into anything but i doubt he's gonna be cast. Just look at Leatherface and Jason. These are for a new generation and i'm sure they're gonna get someone just as scary as he was in the first.

I was wondering since the remake is a go, can we make a seperate thread for that? And just keep all other freddy tuff in here and just post stuff on the remake in that thread. Being casting, interviews, pics and eventually trailers?

If not that's cool. But if i mod will let me i'd make the thread and maintain it myself with all the updates.

Platinum Dunes is going to continue its working relationship with Warner Bros. and New Line for A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Since Comic-Con in July, it was unknown whether producers Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form were going to be involved in the reboot of the Freddy Krueger franchise. But today, Fuller and Form confirmed to ShockTillYouDrop.com that their deal is done. "It's our next movie," confirmed Form, "hopefully shooting this spring."

Over the summer, Wesley Strick (Cape Fear) was attached to pen the script which is intended to re-imagine the dream-hopping teen killer. "It's like what we're doing to Friday the 13th," says Fuller. "It's not Freddy cracking jokes. We want to make a horrifying movie. The concept is so scary, don't fall asleep or you'll die. This guy gets you when you're most vulnerable, in your sleep. We love that. That's the basis of the movie. It'll be most similar to the first one but in terms of kills and dreams we'll borrow from the entire series."

Fuller adds that Warner Bros.' positive response to Friday the 13th was very helpful in getting Nightmare off the ground. Test screenings for Jason Voorhees' latest outing have been great.

Addressing the great, incessant question: Will Robert Englund be back? Fuller and Form say they're seeking someone new to don the hat and red 'n green sweater, but they're hopeful Englund will be back for a part in the film.

Oh yeah, I don´t mind seeing a new character, but Jason and Leatherface had masks, and you can see Englund´s face in Freedy, it would be kind of weird.

Not really per say. He's also wearing a mask. A mask of scared skin. so you really don't see his face.

Plus he's gettin up there in age and they're gonna want a freddy who can move around ans whatnot.

Freddy will be recast and Englund will return in a part in the film. If you look at Englund's resume, he enjoys horror films good and bad, and I know he would love to be in the new Nightmare movie whether he's Freddy or not.

As for the new Freddy, it will be interesting to see who takes the role, though I think it would be more interesting if they don't release who is cast as Freddy.
