UPDATED 4/25/11: It looks like when Lex returns, he'll have a gloved hand like he did at many points in the comics and in the Season 1 flashforward from "Hourglass." It also appears that Clark and Lex meet inside the ruins of Luthor Mansion at one point. (Images courtesy of Entertainment Weekly - hopefully we'll have an entire gallery of images here at KryptonSite soon!)

- TV Guide has given us visual confirmation that the finale will include a Clark & Lois wedding. "It's a very, very long walk down that aisle," Kelly Souders told TV Guide's Rich Sands. "There are some good moments, some heart-wrenching moments and some surprising moments at their wedding."

- Oliver will be best man and Chloe will be the matron of honor."

- Will they actually go through with this whole wedding thing? "I think fans will be pleased with how things turn out," Souders told TV Guide, "but it's never what you expect. I will just say that there are moments directly before and after this photo that, even seeing the footage for the 50th time, I still get a little teary."

- Matt Mitovich at TVLine reveals that Martha and, somehow, Jonathan are guests at the wedding - which we probably could have seen in the promo trailer. He also notes that even though both John Glover and Michael Rosenbaum are in the finale, they do not share scenes together. Drats! I was hoping Lex would kill Lionel (again).

UPDATED 4/15/11: Kelly Souders' KryptonSite interview makes mention of a Lionel return for the finale. Perhaps this will have some tie to Darkseid's appearance.

UPDATED 4/6/11: Allison Mack has told TV Guide she will be in BOTH parts of the 2-part finale, and says "I think she ends in a very healthy and levelheaded way." There is "some reference" to Chloe's married life with Oliver.

UPDATED 3/25/11: Tweets from extras are pointing toward a wedding in Part 1.

UPDATED 3/18/11: Michael McKean has tweeted that his wife is indeed in Vancouver filming Smallville. He's being very coy about the possibilities of himself appearing in the finale.

- One definite no-show for the finale: Kristin Kreuk has confirmed that she is not returning for Smallville's final episodes.

- The show has already wrapped filming in several major sets and is due to be finished entirely next week.

UPDATED 3/9/11: More finale appearances: TVLine first reported and it has been confirmed in a podcast that Allison Mack will be making an appearance as Chloe Sullivan. Additionally, John Schneider has revealed that he, too, has a role in the series' final episode. And again, those aren't the only people making their returns.

UPDATED 3/4/11: Annette O'Toole has tweeted that she is headed someplace that starts with a V next week. The first half of the series finale starts shooting then. Sounds like our finale will have a Martha Kent - and our spies tell us that she and Michael Rosenbaum aren't the only former series regulars returning.

UPDATED 2/11/11: Michael Rosenbaum will be back for the series finale!

UPDATED 2/7/11: The CW has announced that Smallville will conclude with a two-hour series finale on May 13, 2011.

- KryptonSite has learned that the series' 217th and 218th episodes which make up the two-hour finale went under the production names "Finale, Part 1" and "Finale, Part 2"... which means that last Smallville title is not "Superman," not "Metropolis," but.... "Finale." It's sure to be a good one!

UPDATED 1/12/11: TVLine's Michael Ausiello says that producers are "cautiously optimistic" that Lex will be back, but that Kristin Kreuk (Lana) will definitely not be returning.

UPDATED 12/23/10: So, in only a few months we'll be hitting the end. So far, very little is known about how the series will wrap up; if Darkseid's story ends here, if Lex is returning, any of it... it's all a mystery. Hopefully we'll get some news on a Rosenbaum return. It's probably safe to say, though, that at least one departed early-seasons cast member will be present for the show's finale.

Good points, I agree.

And holy hell, where have you been?! :wow:
Life has taken over, my friend. I just had to come back to discuss a little Smallville after that ending.

Also, to those citing the budget, that doesn't explain why we couldn't see a scene of Clark talking to Lois or Lex while wearing full costume. Action scenes are one thing, but a costume for standing around wouldn't have broken the bank.

I loved the Finale. The final shot of Clark and the shirt-rip with the John Williams score was classic! I must admit I was a little misty-eyed (But, don't tell my wife. She said that she'll punch me if I shed a tear for a TV show when I didn't at our wedding). :yay:

Well, I liked it a lot.
Yes, I know, we didn't get a big fight. But how much of Darkseid in the comics would be left if Superman smashed into him at Light speed. :)

I mean, yeah, a big fight would have been nice...but hey, I liked it all.

The throwing of a planet was awesome.
Silver Age Superman all the way. That for me made the whole show worth watching all these years.

And the Comics was a nice meta joke.

I mean, I figure this Superman just borrowed a little from the Speed force and moved to another dimension, grabbed a comic, and brought it back for Chloe.

I suppose since the Flash here always liked her, he would have done it too. If you think Darkseid is powerful, imagine Darkseid with the Speed force.

That said, the whole thing was awesome. Sure some people will hate it. That's the nature of TV shows. Some people love how they end, some people hate it.

I mean, I'm sure plenty of people thought Charmed's ending was bad.

At least Smallville didn't do a Sopranos. :)

And now, for meta humor, to all other fans of this show who also watched Stargate: SG-1.

"So, Daniel, I just watched the ending to Smallville, and I have to ask, how much does a planet the same size of the Earth weigh?"
"Well, Jack, if it's the same size and everything, it would have a mass of 6.6 sextillion tons."

"Well, Superman tossed one away like it was a rag doll."
"That's not surprising, he is Superman."

Well, goodbye everyone. Might show up here again, might not. Show's over.
Turn the lights off, time to go home.

There was never a suit though. The SR one was simply a prop to look pretty. Look at the one Jonathan handed him and the \S/ was different.

That's what I'm wondering.

Maybe the producers put an embargo on welling putting on the full suit or
something

Finale was a little underwhelming, but it had some good moments. As for CGI Superman it is what it is, but I wasn't too bothered by it. Loved the final minute or two of the show.

I don't think they could have fumbled the finale any worse. Barely anyhting happened in it, Clark walked around all mopey for the majority of it and then his "fight" with Darkseid was horrible (except for the moment he realizes he's floating, that was great). I think more happened in Superman Returns than this finale, and all he did in that movie was lift ****. And then to make matters worse, they don't even bother with a full suit shot, leaving it up to distant CG shots.

The best part? Clark, in mid-air, undergoes a five minute flashback sequence that finally inspires him to fly. Five minutes of nothing but clips of Clark being awesome.

That's what sparked flight. Not a death. Not a perilous situation. A highlight reel of Clark being Clark. It's almost as if someone showed him a YouTube collection of all of his best moments, and he suddenly realizes, "Wait a second. I'm awesome."

*flies*

I was very pleased. I got to see Tom as Superman. Best ending ever.

This is why I never go into an episode with expectations. I went in expecting nothing and I LOVED it! Had I expected a huge fight with Darkseid and a full body shot of the suit, I know I would be disappointed. But I'm happy with what we got.

I liked the finale, but I really believe they could have done more. If they could give one shot characters their own superhero costumes and have every Kryptonian flying all over the place, they could have made a Superman suit that fit Tom Welling and had a full shot of him. It's not like having a clear, real shot of him as Superman would have undermined the point of the show any more than the distant shots and brief glimpses.

+1... im just glad the suit didn't enable him to fly, that's what i was worried about. god my head is spinning and ksite is down, i LOVED this. welling should of been superman in the man of steel. the look on lois face when she saw him was priceless.

I still want that SV comic.

I would love if they did something like that for each season. Like one comic or graphic novel that contains the best of each season without all of the side drama.

Yup. That's all it took. Clark realizing he's awesome. :awesome:

I still say The Man of Steel movie producers must have prevented from there being a full costume shot of Tom Welling in the suit

I freaking loved that! I grew an instant big-ass smile! :D Even Darkseid was like "Wait... um... hang on a sec, dude-" LIGHTSPEED FLIGHT THROUGH THE FACE!!! :super:

I haven't posted here in a long time, but this finale just compels me to pour my thoughts out. It was AWESOME!!! :woot: I have waited 10 years to see him in the suit, and it was very satisfying.

To be honest, I haven't been keeping up with Smallville since maybe season 5 because for me it crossed the line of how much change is acceptable. Too many events had occurred and he was still just Clark. But now it was really great seeing him in red and blue. So, I guess even the irregulars tuned in to watch :cwink:. Though it doesn't mean I haven't been keeping up with the show, I would now and then read snippets and watch few episodes occasionally, with my bro filling in the gaps.

My only complaint is the lack of action. I'd have thought that 10 years would have allowed sufficient room for all the drama and that the finale should've been more about "Superman" and not Clark, well not so much. What's worse is all that drama building up to the wedding didn't add to anything for they weren't still married. I was really hoping for some fantastic action between him and Darkseid, alas there was none :(.

But I can't let that little thing get in my way of how satisfied I felt when he flew off. Well that reminds of another minor complaint, no full shot of him in the suit, non-CGI kind.

Besides that 8/10! :supes:

Budget???
budget????
Star TrekTNG was on a tv budget and gave most sci fi movies a run for its money
