He's my best hype buddie and a man I always get along with.

Green Lantern
Him and I have a tendency to argue over piddly, stupid stuff. He's a jerk, I'm a jerk. Oh, the drama!

Wiegabo
Every house needs a wise, all-knowing person to place peace maker. Wieg is one of the more rational, calm and collected folks I've met on the hype. Given some of the other people on this site, that might not be much of a compliment.

Shlee
Gotta have a chick to break up the sausage fest. Helps if they're easy on the eyes.

Keyser Soze
While you need a peace maker, you also need a wierdo. Who better than my favorite psychopathic Scot to walk around nude and mumble under his breath about killing us all.

Another chick, and one of my favorite all time favorite hypsters. Twy can be a bit of a drama queen, but I still love her.

Since my brother wouldn't count, that'd be a big no. Some of us basement dwellers have been getting together at comic-con, but I haven't been able to attend thus far.

I've posted commando, fully clothed, in nothing but my socks, and one time while wearing a bridle. Yeah, that was a wild Arbor Day.

What brought you to the Hype?
I got a new computer in May of '06 and was searching for Batman wallpapers online when I stumbled upon the hype.

What keeps you here?
The RPG section. I seriously cannot think of a closer, more tight-knit community that's filled with so many creative people all working together to write stories and have a good time. It's really my home away from home.

Wiegabo or maybe Andy C. Both are smart, well-read individuals. I like to think I'm pretty good at trivia and general knowledge, but I'm sure the two of them would be able to be quality safety nets.

Which two Hype Members would you like to compete against in Jepoardy?
Batman and Wiegabo. Batman would be a pushover, but with Wieg I'd have to step up my game. It'd be a good contest.

Which two Mods?
Batman and maybe Immortalfire. Those are the only two mods I know, so those are the only two I'm sure I could beat...but 'Fire would kick my butt in a category involving UGA football.

Hype Crush?
Batman. It's a man-crush, dammit!

Hype Nemesis?
I don't really have one now, but there were a few that really wore my patience thin a few years back. OleCanuckleHead was a real ass, got on everybody's nerves including my own. As did Spidey'ssuperfan/Matt Murdock/Peter Parker. As bad as OCH was, MM was loads worse. He was just a rude, needy little kid. We clashed a few times over IMs. Not saying I'm without my own faults. But thus far both are gone and Byrd Man survives!

I've seen a few that I liked reading and taking part in.

Aunt Petunia was a great read. I laughed my ass off first time I read the thread. The Hooter's waitress is legendary. As for what I've enjoyed taking part in, the latest version of Hype Survivor was fun for me. Then the Hype Horrors Murder Mystery RPG we did last year was a lot of fun for me. Season VI of the World of Heroes DC RPG was legendary down in my part of the hype and with good reason, one of my favorite seasons of all time.

That's partly true. They don't them, but it's because they taste like a 40 year old man who dresses up and crawls into a small car with ten other men. The taste of pancake make-up, sweat, and desperation is too sad to be eaten and enjoyed.

I'd probably lock my doors. I'm not a weatherist, I mean some of my best friends are heat waves. It's just, there are some good ones...but most can't be trusted.

A Christmas Story. Nobody can watch that movie and not love it. Even after watching it twelve times in a row, it's still good.

What is your biggest regret and if you could relive that moment what would you have done differently?
It's hard for me to say. I have more than a few regrets, but it's regarding small things. I'd say right now my biggest regret is not taking school as seriously as I should. I should have made better grades, taken my SATs and tried to go to college. Now, I'm stuck in an industry looking for steady work where they overlook you nine times out of ten if you don't have a college degree.

We were six. I liked her a lot, she liked someone else. Then I found out she was my third cousin. It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

My collection of t-shirts. I got two Batman t-shirts, a Flash t-shirt, GL t-shirt, Ghostbusters glow in the dark t-shirt, a Blues Brothers t-shirt, and my favorite is a Mr. T "Shut up, fool!" T-shirt.

How did you find out about the birds and the bees?
Like most kids, through the TV and internet.

Who has been your biggest influence and why?
I don't honestly think I have a major influence. I have people I aspire to be like. I'm a big fan of history, and I like to think I aspire to live life like men like Washington, Adams, and Truman did. I have writers like James Ellroy, David Simon, and Ed Brubaker that inspire me to write. But as to who has influenced the person I am today, I don't think it was just one person. My parents are a big part, as are friends and family. I think that there's no one person, but a patchwork of memories, ideas, and aspirations.

Where is your next vacation spot?
If I had my way, it'd be San Diego this summer. I've wanted to go to Comic-Con for the past few years now, but it's not gonna happen.

If you moved tomorrow, outside of family or friends, etc. what would you miss most about the place you were living?
The lack of neighbors. We recently moved after living in the same place for 16 years. That last seven were a bit less enjoyable due to our white trash neighbors yelling at all hour so of the night and letting their kids run wild through the neighborhood. Now we're out in the country, way out of earshot from our closest neighbor. I enjoy it.

I was planning to do that, but my horse overheard me telling someone to go **** themselves and it did. It beat me to the punch.

what was your first introduction to RPGs?
I was searching through the hype when I saw a thread about a Marvel RPG and its fourth season. I looked in and I was amazed. I had no idea things like this existed on the internet. I knew their were RPGs, but not like this.

what about RPG's draws you in?
Just how different it is. There's no rolling dice, or stats. It's just storytelling. People know their characters and their limits and we get to work together and write some damn fine stories. Damn fine indeed. It's not just the stories, though, it's the community I love. I've know these people for almost five years now. I've worked with them late into the night, gotten pumped at the thought of a story and how we're going to do it. And then the rush from the constant back and forth with a good RPer. When things are clicking and on a roll, it's better than any high a drug can give you.


tell us about your first attempt at RPG: (character, storyline,etc)
I signed up as the Riddler in the "Ultimate DC RPG" an RPG designed for a user-controlled continuity, our way of rebooting the DCU and playing with updated characters.

Of all the posts I've done, my first was probably the worse.

That was my only Riddler post. I picked the character up later, retooled him, and now that I'm a better writer, he's become one of my favorite characters I've played the past five years.

Favorite personal rpg moment?
This is a tough one. There's been so many good moments. One of my favorite moments was in the World of Heroes DC RPG's sixth season. In that season, a group of villains called the Dark Alliance teamed up to take over the world. In the opening shot, Deathstroke (played by me) did some highly fiendish things. He tortured Kid Flash, handed Speedy over to Dr. Light so he could do some sick things with his hard light holograms, and then killed Supergirl.

My favorite moment was in the aftermath of that. Nightwing, who I was playing as well, teamed up with the original founding Teen Titans - Wally West, Roy Harper, Garth, and Donna Troy - and formed a new version of the Outsiders. As I said, I was Nightwing, Green Lantern was Roy, and Batman was playing Wally West. It didn't last long, but the three of us had such a dynamic chemistry and our love of the characters shined through in those posts. It was really one of the highlights of my RPG career.

for those of us who aren't into RPG or don't know much about it, how would you explain it to us?

Well, the Hype RPGs are kinda like fanfics. We apply for characters by filling out a character applications. The gamemaster approves the app and you go from the Out of Character (OOC) thread to the In-Character (IC) thread where you post as your character, doing storylines and intersecting with other players as either friend or foe.

Your thoughts on fanfictions?
I don't do fanfics, although the RPGs might be considered that. Fanfics are done independently, by yourself. I'm fine with them, more power to you if you want to do it. But the RPGs are interactive, stories and ideas are in constant flux and you're working with people to shape and craft the stories. A fanfic is all you from start to finish, but an initial idea in an RPG may be completely different by the time it's through. Fanfic by committee is what the RPGs are if you had to put a label on it.

Nope. My username is a story in and of itself. Right before I signed up at the hype, I was taking part in another writing project. It was a Heroes virtual season. Pretty much we all were supposed to write scripts for a virtual season of the show Heroes. It didn't pan out and I didn't enjoy it, but I created a character called AJ Byrd. I liked him, so I used the character's surname as my username. So it's nothing to do with fowl, rappers, of my last name. My real last name is one of the most generic names you could ever have.

which character have you not RPG'ed as, that you would like to play?

Excellent question. Pretty much, everyone I've ever wanted to play I've had a crack at. Batman, Superman, Spidey, Captain America, Iron Man, Daredevil, and even Rorschach and Sherlock Holmes.

I really can't think of anyone I want to play...but I wouldn't mind trying my hand at the Joker. Nobody could hope to beat Keyser Soze and his portrayal of him, but I wouldn't mind taking a shot.

Actually, I have another two questions.

Who was your favorite poster to collaborate with and what was your favorite instance of it?

That's a real toughie. I like working with MB, the man is my hetero-life mate. We really click on a lot of things....but he's slow. I also like collaborating with Eddie Brock since he's real fast, we've had a great back and forth plenty of times....but this one has to go to MB. He's the RPer I've worked with the most over the years, and we still get along really great.

Best example was back in November. We were doing a story in Ultimate DC. Batman and Question were investigating he shipment of Miraclo coming into Gotham. We were both firing on all cylinders and he was keeping up the pace. We had maybe fifty combined back and forth posts and the arc lasted for nearly two months. I really didn't want it to end.

How do you feel now that you've pretty much gone from that new ass**** that just joined the games to that ass**** that basically runs the games?

I really don't like to think I run the games. I put a lot of work in, but I can only do so much. My actual transition to power was gradual and all according to plan. It really snuck up on me. First I was helping out in a few games as Assistant Gamemaster, and then Twy bowed out of the DC RPG and named me the Gamemaster, I think she mostly did it just because she didn't want MB, GL, or you to run it. And once I got my first taste of power, I could not be stopped.
