^^Right.
Well Gordons been wrong before.
I've read the sides. Which part?
I think this is gonna be a really bad ass scene. Dent is inside the Mayors office talking about his plans fro cleaning up Gotham then BAM...

In the context of the film I am positive that this will be one of the fake Batmen whom has been hung (possibly by the Joker).
Hopefully Nolan can pull it off, visually this could be a pretty emotional and shocking moment:

Damn, Nolan is going to pull of a fantastic superhero movie. maybe the best ever. i have a feeling one of the performances in TDK is going to be Oscar worthy...dont flame me for a feeling...but regardless of jokers look....Ledger is going to have the performance of his life in this film...judging by other actors comments, and his attitude toward the movie... im very excited.
1.a representation or image, esp. sculptured, as on a monument.
2. a crude representation of someone disliked, used for purposes of ridicule.
3.in effigy, in public view in the form of an effigy: a leader hanged in effigy by the mob.

As you can see by the definition of Effigy it is possible that this is a dead body.
What is it you think effigy means in the context of the bolded text? It doesn't mean that a leader is literally hanged
Perhaps its just wishful thinking on my part.
It's not in the sides, I've read them all as well... the poster is mistaken... it's just a rumor at this point - nothing more.
Does this mean Batman might appear in the daylight? Eek.
Well, the scene description that was supplied just had Dent inside pledging crime-free streets, the effigy hits window, and the very next lines are exterior shots of Gordon taking notes as they lower the corpse. I'm just going off of what we have, and according to that it is the very next scene. Now, tell me that those were edited before they were just posted, or that they were fake, sure, but don't act like i pulled it out of my ass.
So, what you guys are saying is that, using the example in the definition that i supplied, if they hung the real leader, it wouldn't be an effigy, right? Ok, great.
It's not the real Batman being hung is it? Even a real corpse can be an effigy. A "fake" batman can still be a "real" person, which is the point i'm making. So both of you are still unfounded in assuming it's supposed to be a dummy based solely on it being referred to as an effigy. But thank you for trying and for also ignoring the other points i made in order to attack my definition of the word "effigy". Typical internet argument tactics, ignore the points and attack semantics instead.
OK... To be honest I think you're trolling right now... No one as stupid as you're purporting to be right now could switch on a computer, let alone string a coherent sentence together...
But on the off chance you're not trolling....
Don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but Smat is right... Mussolini's dead body is almost always refered to as an effigy when it was hung upside down... I mean... it was a REAL body people!? That's typically where the third definition comes from.. it's VERY literal.
There are several of us who now have information to understand that the body is a character, and it's a REAL dead body.
Thank you! Jesus, i thought i was taking crazy pills!

patronising is very condescending.
An effigy doesn't have to be dummy and it is not outside of common usage, just because you don't think that we're right. We have valid points whether you want to admit it.
And you seem to be the one trolling by the looks of it.
