2007 - 2008 NCAA Basketball Thread

It's all good. A few too many close calls as of late. I was waiting for it to catch up with them.

The Heels could stand an upset like this. Come back with some fire.

So Memphis will jump up to number one. Congrats Addendum

Thanks.

I just hope things go better for us than they did in '83, if we get the Number 1.

I won't be surprised if we lose tomorrow in Minneapolis.

Wow, we win in Minneapolis, and are going to be back in the top 10

Doesn't matter, when Memphis actually plays someone then we'll see who the number one team in the land is.

To all those praising Wisconsin: Their ranking is because of their weak non-conference schedule.

NO ONE ELSE in the Big Ten schedules better than Izzo. Texas last year, Texas and UCLA this year, Kansas next year.

Sure we schedule some creampuffs, but for the most part, we play a real tough non-conference schedule. Compared to Indiana ().

Why the **** do you feel the need to call out Wisconsin if MSU is so much better than them? They're still ranked higher.

So much anger, I sense in you. :o

I think UNC tops this for creampuffs...:o

And I agree that the rest of Conference USA sucks. However, that's not Memphis' fault.

But Memphis has beaten Connecticut, Georgetown, and Arizona. This Saturday, we play Gonzaga, and then on February 23 we play Tennessee.

But then it doesn't matter since Memphis has been named Number 1

Hahahaha, not anger at all. It's truth.

I'm not "calling out" Wisconsin. It's not a personal vendetta against you at all. I've just heard a lot of people praising them. Sure, they move up SIX SPOTS for beating a crap Northwestern team. Doesn't that seem a little fishy to you?:dry::dry:

Looking at their schedule, I have no clue how they're 11th in the nation. Got killed by Duke and Marquette, although the Texas win was good, it was won on a last-second shot.

Indiana is very good as well, but an extremely weak schedule. Their only ranked team opponent was against SIU, and lost to Xavier early in the year.

I'm just saying... non-conference schedules show a lot. MSU - played #1 UCLA to the brink, beat #4 Texas, beat #22 BYU. Each team has a weakness - and if you want any chance at beating MSU, stop Drew Neitzel.

I'm just stunned that Wisconsin moves up six spots after beating Penn State and Northwestern of all people. MSU beats Ohio State, who won the last four meetings against Sparty, along with a Minnesota team that WILL be a tournament team, moves up one spot.

Sorry, it's just screwy.

It might be a big jump, but overall that ranking is about right. They've won the last 5 by double digits. So they may have played some weaker teams, but they treated them like weaker team.

You talk about non-con, I'll point out quality losses. Wisconsin's are Duke and Marquette (not a killing btw). And, Michigan States are UCLA and Iowa (who have lost 9 games). Honestly, Fran, which are the better losses?

Not to mention, Grand Valley State. :o
(Yes, it was an exhibition and doesn't count. But come on.)

My point, it can be spun either way.

Guess we'll find out for sure next month. :cwink:

Oh jeez, pulling out the GVSU card eh?

That's like pulling out the App St. card.

Fran, it was a joke. (I'll try to be more clear for you next time)

Besides the fact, if that happened to UW, you would have beaten it to death.

So, is that the only part you have a problem with?

I didn't use the App. State joke all the time in the NCAA football thread. Hell, I think I only said it once

I'm just trying to have a healthy debate with one of my beloved peeps on here :csad:

Fran, my friend, you misunderstand. This has nothing to do with App. State or how many times you made fun of Michigan because of it. I'm just saying if Wisconsin had a loss like that, I am sure I would get some good natured ribbing. :cwink:

Hell, I'd be disappointed if you didn't. :o

I would joke about it at first, then I'd stop. Because the App. State joke got old quickly :csad:

I love you.
