Well if San Diego or Arizona go to the SuperBowl, than your point would make little sense. Second, singling out those teams; yet you desire to give mid-majors a shot when they have just as much of a chance of getting their butts handed to them, as Cinn or VTech... well what's the difference?

However, you're right we and thousands of others can debate this all night, and would probably never reach a complete consensus.
