2009 MLB Thread, part 2

You need to do what the rest of us do. We got over it. I know I've moved on from it. It was 5 years ago. It happened, it sucked, it's done. Now we're in the world series again. No more obsessing over a horrible past. A lot of teams have had way worse pasts than the Yankees, basically every team, and yet their fans still stick with them. We've got 26 titles man, there's no reason to act like this.

Exactly. Yankees may have a bad streak between 2004 and 2009, but once again they are in the WS and having another shot at getting a title, and I'm sure almost all other MLB teams would love to have Yankees' little drought; just ask Cubs how they felt about not winning a WS for a hundred years.

Why are you even giving him reason to continue as a Yankees fan? Kurosawa you should become a Mets fan. They haven't failed as bad as 2004..so maybe that will make you happier from now on

I think the Mets have driven me more insane in the last few years. After 2006 I thought they were going places and was excited. I wasn't expecting them to completely collapse in september two years in a row and then completely waste our times this year.

Man...Cliff Lee was ****ing incredible last night. The man was damn near untouchable if it wasn't for the 9th inning. Major props to him, and ****ing Utley. Why would CC throw him a fastball on an 0-2 count is mind numbingly confusing to me.

Let's see if Pedro can hold us down, though. I'd really like to see him get destroyed out there tonight. I still hate him for his Boston years.

I think a problem among Yankee fans, and I ****ing loathe it, is that so many of us are just spoiled. Spoiled brats that think winning a World Series every year is like a feasble thing we should expect or something.

I have a ton of respect for Cubs fans, really. They're hardcore fans, that still root for a team that continues to break they're hearts. But, they keep rooting. That's gotta be tough.

In fact, it's actually a disservice to the league if only Yankees win every year, because that would dilute the interest of fans to their local team, and drive down the rating. Yankees will always compete, but not necessary win a WS just because they spent $200+ million on payroll. However, I do have a sense that the franchise will get their 27th title with this bunch of players. Whether it'd be this year or next remains to be seen.

The Yankees got their asses handed to them last night, I give credit to Lee cause he was awesome. I do think the Yankees win tonight and make Pedro come back to earth.

If they could just win one, I'd get past 2004. But until then it will always overshadow everything else about the team to me.

Just get over yourself Kurosawa. Teams have disasters, sometimes they lose, and (as a fan of the Yankees, this may be hard for you to understand) they don't win the World Series every year. Just because they haven't won in a few years doesn't make them "cursed." It makes them a normal team.

Despite the two HR's he gave up Pedro has been pretty dominant. I thought his line would be something like 4 ER through 6 IP. Surprised me with all the K's.

That HR wouldn't have been out at CBP and that's saying something.
