I think the game is set up perfectly for the Ravens to go into Indy and win. They established a power running game with the need to only throw it 10! times, which will kill clock and keep the ball away from Manning. The Colts are coming off of nearly a month of rest and fail everytime they're in this spot of earning the #1 seed early and resting starters. Not to mention the Ravens defense isn't afraid to hit Peyton in the mouth and Ray Lewis is just as much a field general as Manning. I will actually be surprised if the Ravens DON'T win.

Going to disagree, but the best special teams coach is Mike Westhoff of the Jets. Dave Wandstedt did a lot of idiotic things as HC of the Dolphins, but firing him might have been the worst.

I love Bill Simmons' picks for Round 2 of NFL playoff, esp. the game between Chargers and his hated Jets:

Jets (+7) over CHARGERS

The key matchup: Jets CB Darrelle Revis must stop Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson.
Key Player: Shonn Greene, who last weekend made every Pats fan say, "Wait a second, we had three of the top-60 picks and somehow missed that guy so we could end up with Laurence Maroney again?" You can run the ball down San Diego's throat, and you can run for big plays against San Diego. Greene can do both.

Possible Playoff Doppleganger: Jets 20, Chargers 17 (Jan. 8, 2005). I had the Chargers laying six. Didn't have to look that up. That was "The Night I Forgot That You Should Never Wager On Marty Schottenheimer in a Playoff Game."

Possible "Get Ready For a Weird Game" Omen: Jets owner Woody Johnson recently lost his daughter, Casey Johnson, who reportedly struggled with drug/alcohol problems. Casey Johnson was engaged to Tila Tequila, who accused Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman of domestic violence when they were dating back in August. Now the Jets and Chargers are playing in Round 2. Any game that features a prominent tie to Tila Tequila HAS to play out strangely, right?

Possible Tragic Figure: LaDainian Tomlinson. Win or lose, I have a feeling we'll be getting a heavy dose of Darren Sproles in this game, along with a lot of Tomlinson sideline shots in which he's sitting sullenly on the bench and looking like his McFarlane action figure.

Hero You Might Not Have Expected: Darrelle Revis. Crap -- you'd totally expect him. I don't care. Shut down Vincent Jackson and you can beat the Bolts.

This Game As a "Jersey Shore" Character: Vinny. He's gaining steam as the season goes long; so are the Jets.

Relevant E-mail (from name withheld): "Hey Cheatriot (expletive) how you like Sanchez now! (EXPLETIVE) YOU. Enjoy watching the Jets while the Cheatriots sit home (EXPLETIVE) each other you (EXPLETIVE). (EXPLETIVE)." Stay classy, Jersey.

Theories in Play: Like with Vikes/Cowboys, the "Beware of teams that looked a little too good in Round 1" and "Don't overrate home-field advantage" theories cancel out. So let's go with the pure matchups: San Diego loves chucking the ball, can't run the ball and can't stop the run. The Jets love running the ball, suck at stopping the run and do a nice job against passing teams. Could they have picked a better Round 2 opponent? The stars have aligned for the J-E-T-S JetsJetsJETS.

(Insert sound of thousands of Jets fans screaming, "Nooooooooooooo! He picked us! KISS OF DEATH!!!!!!!!!" Well, you shouldn't have sent me so many taunting e-mails last weekend. Enjoy the Simmons stink.)

The Pick: Jets 20, Chargers 19.

Obviously, Simmons is hoping he'd hex the Jets, given that he was 0-4 in last week's picks.

Ochocinco Named As Pro Bowl Alternate; To Race Titans' Johnson?
The Cincinnati Bengals got a player in the Pro Bowl after all.

Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco was selected as an alternate Friday on the AFC roster. He replaces injured New England Patriots receiver Wes Welker, who tore his ACL and MCL in his left knee in the Jan. 3 game against the Texans.

Ochocinco reacted to the news by declaring he would take part in a charity sprint.

"Adam i am racing Chris Johnson, the loser is giving there pro bowl check over to those in need in Haiti," Ochocinco wrote on Twitter, addressing ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Cincinnati won 10 games and the AFC North division but was shut out of the Pro Bowl until Friday.

This is Ochocinco's sixth Pro Bowl appearance. He led the Bengals with 72 receptions for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns this season.
I wouldn't be surprised if Johnson turns over his check when he wins (and he will) as well, along with several other players. Still, good story on two counts.

My Picks:

Saints 45 Cardinals 24... Warner throws 3 INT's and loses a fumble in this game and the Saints win going away.

Indy 24 Ravens 16... I don't see Flacco making enough plays downfield.

Dallas 20 Vikings 17... Gonna come down to the last drive.

Chargers 27 Jets 17... Trenches concern me for the Chargers, but Rivers is too good against the blitz.

If you're making the same picks as Tonie, you should change them ;)

They are all favorites other than Dallas... who would be favored on a neutral field. Hardly a suprise there. I think there is a good chance two home teams lose though, so Indy/SD concern me. I don't like Arizona, but I am pulling for them.

Arizona is a terrible match up for NO. NO is a team that just drives up the score until the other offense just can't keep up. Unfortunately Arizona is the same type of team. This game will come down to whichever offense makes a huge mistake/whichever defense makes a big play. Arizona has a lot of defensive weapons. Thus, I expect them to make the big defensive play that wins them the game.

and if 1999 Kurt Warner shows up, NO is ****ed...if they score 30, 99 Warner scores 40...if Drew Brees scores 4 TDs, 99 Kurt Warner scores 7

Warner got his ass kicked against the Saints in 00. Then he got whooped in the Superdome by the Pats in the Superbowl. Some QB's just have that Temple of Doom venue they can't win in. We'll see what happens.

I have heard almost every angle on the upcoming game with the saints by national analysts.

They usually follow these basic three points of how the game will play out.

1) Cards Saints shootout, replay of last week's classic against the pack.

2) Saints bring the heat and Gregg williams causes Kurt to have Mucho turnovers

3) Saints blow it open in the 2nd half. ( despite our game last week most analysts are still picking saints to win )

BUT... I truly can't believe i have YET to hear ONE national analyst bring up this ONE , MAJOR, overlooked fact and here it is.

The Number ONE overall defense in the NFL is still in the Playoffs ( the Jets) , the Number THREE overall defense is still in the playoffs ( the Ravens, slapped the patriots) But , my oh my, where is the NUMBER TWO DEFENSE IN THE NFL??? THEY'VE GONE HOME BECAUSE WE BEAT THEM!!!

The EXPLOSION of points we forged was against a Season-Long dominant defense!

Let's see where the saints stand defensively as opposed to the Packers...

Against the run
Packers... Number ONE in the NFL .... 83.3 yards per game.
saints ... number 21 in the NFL... 122.2 YARDS a GAME!!!

Against the Pass
Packers ... Number Five in the NFL 201 yards per game
saints .... Number 26 in the NFL 235 yards per game

This is a MASSIVE drop off compared to the team we just played 5 days ago. Not one analyst that i have heard has mentioned that fact.

The Cards DEFENSE ranks higher then the saints in almost every category.
Sometimes marginally close. But still higher.

The Saints are also riding a three game losing streak and only scored 17 points in their own house against lowly tampa bay, in a game they needed to win to secure home field throughout the playoffs.

If the roles had been reversed i am certain you would have heard nothing but "what's wrong with the Cardinals and how can their 25th ranked defense hope to stop Drew Brees?"

Instead most every analyst points to a shootout. I fully acknowledge that Drew Brees is AWESOME, and as good as any QB out there. BUT, that having been said, if one defense has a chance of showing up and shutting down the other's offense, recent history would be strongly on the CARDINALS SIDE IN THIS!!!

WE have the advantage defensively going into this game. Anythings possible once the ball kicks off. But I really like our Chances in a dome against the number 25 defense overall.

Just thought I'd mention the downplaying of what we did to the Number two overall defense and get your thoughts on it out there.

Goooooooooooooo CARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i hope the Chargers will be rusty coming into the game tomorrow
