Man, I've tried explaining this to people, but I no one really seems to "get" it, but as a native Pittsburgher who currently lives elsewhere due to job reasons (yeah, I know that my "location" says Pittsburgh, but it's also said Gotham City and Metropolis in the past, so, you know...) I've been wanting to move back to the 'Burgh and I honestly feel that the fact that the city won two titles this year is a sign that now is the time to really do it. I'm not the type who usually buys into that kind of supposed divine intervention thing, but I can't shake the feeling that the city is calling me home. Anyone else ever feel this way about your hometown?

Draper's just a sore loser. Crybaby ***** can't handle losing.

Some whine with your cheese Draper?

I'm interested as to who the posters here would have awarded the Conn Smythe to. I really think Malkin was deserving, but there were more candidates that I heard others suggest.

How do you spell hypocrite? Why I think it's B-R-I-A-N-B-U-R-K-E

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke isn't interested in acquiring Dany Heatley -- and he isn't fond of the all-star forward's decision to request a trade out of Ottawa.

Burke lambasted Heatley and agent JP Barry during a Wednesday telephone interview on the NHL Network, saying that no trade demand should become public.

"We're not going to be in on (Heatley)," said Burke. "I have certain guidelines about how players ask for trades."

Heatley, who signed a US$45-million, six-year deal with the Senators in October 2007, told the Senators last week he wanted to be dealt away.

"For a player to quietly and professionally ask for a trade, that's fair ball for me. For a player to pop off and say he wants out, or leak it ... in my mind now, you're no longer interested in your team. You've handcuffed the GM."

Funny how he didn't have these feelings when he acquired Pronger in 2006......

Honestly, I almost spat out my coffee this morning when I read that.

I would've believed it if it had come out of the mouth of any other GM. But for Burke to actually say that, he either must've been a)seriously drunk b)making a joke.

And as far as I can tell, I don't see Burke joking around.

So watching the NHL Awards show and Mike Bossy looks like a corpse. The years have not been kind to him.

Way to go Timmy Thomas.
Way to go Claude!

Now we just need a Chara sighting for the Norris.

Edit: And we have that.

Not a bad night to be a Bruin. But you know darn well they would trade the Jennings, Vezina, Adams and Norris for Stanley.

Winter Classic Double Header

It appears the Calgary Flames may be a part of the Winter Classic in 2010.

Citing multiple league sources, ESPN The Magazine is reporting the Flames will host the second of two outdoor games on New Year's Day.

The report indicates the game would be played at McMahon Stadium, the home of the Stampeders, with the possible opponent being another Canadian team.

The first game is expected to be played at Fenway Park in Boston with speculation the Bruins would host 2008-09 Hart Trophy winner Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.

The Edmonton Oilers hosted the first outdoor game in 2003 when they played the Montreal Canadiens in the Heritage Classic at Commonwealth Stadium.

In 2008, Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo was the stage for the first Winter Classic between the Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins.

This past season, the Chicago Blackhawks hosted the Detroit Red Wings at Wrigley Field.

I still say they should have alumni from the competing teams play a short game prior to the NHL game just like they did for Edmonton/Montreal.

There is talk of that for Fenway. They have also talked about keeping the rink up for a few weeks and moving the Beanpot there.

sharks are in the hunt for heatley

Sharks should try to acquire someone who has some mental toughness in the playoffs. That is the one thing holding them back. The talent has been there for years now.

Ok... we need the guy who won the pool to start the NHL 2009-2010 thread... :cmad: :cmad: :cmad:

:o

I wonder if Gilbert+O'sullivan and a 1st is enough to get Heatley.

Rumors floating around about Jay Bouwmesster's rights getting moved to Vancouver.
