Only the Penguins would win a game like that where not only where they horrendously outshot, but they didn't have a single freaking shot on goal for over half a game.
Also, the NHL really needs to tweak the offside review process. Not only was the one that disallowed the Preds first goal way too close to call to overturn the call on the ice, but there needs to be some kind of time limit on how far back they go. It's gotten to the point that the first thing teams do after allowing a goal is to go back and review the zone entry for offsides no matter how far back and disconnected to the play it was.
There needs to be some sort of middle ground or "close enough" rule put in place similar to the "neighborhood play" in baseball that penalizes the obvious misses but lets the too close to call stuff go. Otherwise you risk bogging down the game and having every zone entry turn into the "catch rule" in the NFL.
This. The point of calling offside was because otherwise it gave teams an unfair advantage by being in the zone before the puck. What it has turned into now is just a way to disallow goals. It's ******** and makes the game hard to watch.
