Kaberle to be traded soon apparently.

Bruins are making a push for him.

From Boston.com

MONTREAL -- Boston's interest in acquiring Tomas Kaberle, reported here on boston.com last night, took an interesting twist here today when tsn.ca's Bob McKenzie reported that the Bruins have offered Phil Kessel to the Leafs for Kaberle and the Leafs' seventh pick in tonight's NHL draft here at the Bell Center.
Peter Chiarelli, the Bruins general manager, did not return at email last night when asked about Boston's interest in acquiring Kaberle, the 31-year-old Czech-born backliner.
McKenzie is among the most reliable hockey reporters/sources in Canada, giving credence to Boston's alleged offer. Burke is also a former TSN employee, having worked there in a number of roles over the years.
Kessel, who potted 36 goal this past season, is an unrestricted free agent and is able to sign with any club he prefers as of July 1. The Bruins, per CBA rule, have the right to match that offer and retain his services.
Kessel is recovering from off-season shoulder surgery and could miss the first month of the regular season.
The Bruins hold the No. 25 pick in tonight's draft. Based on the tsn.ca report, the Bruins would not flip the No. 25 for the No. 7, but acquire it outright and have two picks for tonight's draft. Chiarelli reiterated yesterday that he has solicited offers to move up higher in the draft with the No. 25 pick.
If the Bruins were to acquire the No. 7 pick, they likely would use it on one of the draft's high-end defensive prospects, perhaps Oliver Ekman-Larsson or the towering Jared Cowen, a 6-5 blueliner from Spokane who is billed as a Zdeno Chara type.

Flyers and Ducks have something cooking with Pronger.

Another great part of the draft... hot sisters and cousins.

Tavares goes to the Islanders.

Pronger is a Flyer! Look out Sidney Crosby. I'm happy as hell the Flyers got Pronger, but I'm not thrilled that they traded two 1st round picks for him. But hey, they obviously feel that they're close to winning a cup and this guy definitely helps them now.

Patrick Kane's parents and sisters

If I were a Flyers fan I would have liked this deal more about 6 years ago.

How the f*** do the flyers get the same deal the Oilers got for Pronger?

Lupul
Young defensive prospect (Smid/SBisa)
2 first rounders

The big difference is Pronger's age. As a Penguins fan, I like the deal. As much as Pronger could be a tough obstacle for a year or so, it pays off (for the Penguins) in the long run.

When is the 2009-2010 thread going to open???

:cmad: :cmad: :cmad:

I have sent a PM to the thread maker. If it's not made in a week, then the second place poster will make it.

I too PM'd JRDC-whatever about making it, but haven't heard back.

Billy Guerin is staying with the Penguins for another year (2 mill).

Just to add to the conversation, this should be in the next thread though.

Dude, Pronger can still play. He's the perfect fit for this team and he gives them the stability they needed on defense. He'll be a great leader in the locker room, which the Flyers had issues with down the stretch and in the playoffs. He can give them 3 or 4 good years, if they choose to resign him after this season. But most of you will disagree with me anyway, so I don't even know why I bother typing this.

Flyers still have a ton of young talent waiting in the minors, especially at defense. And they still have a really young team. So I don't agree with most people in saying they mortgaged the future. Don't worry, the Flyers will be with the Pens for the long run. I'm just worried about Emery.

Emery was three wins away from winning the Stanley Cup, this is his second chance so he won't screw up this season to ensure a longer term contract.

Sharks, Rangers, and Oilers are rumored to be the top runners for Heatley today.

Watch him get traded to Columbus lol. :p

That'd be interesting with him and Nash. But do they have the payroll flexability to do that? That's a lot of cash between two players.

I am glad to see him stick around for another year. He's a good guy and a class act. Not too mention a Western MA boy.

A lot of goalies have been 3 wins away and never gotten back to that point. He's a head case and sorry, but I never saw him as an elite goalie before.

ih8nyy I know your a big Bruins fan, how come the Bruins seem so eager to trade Kessel? Shouldn't he be one of their cornerstones of that franchise? Is there something going behind closed doors with Kessel?

I thought Columbus had a budget?

Well right now that have 16 million in cap space available. They could certainly make it work and if they wanna be taken seriously, they could really make a splash here.
