Yeah, by 7 points, if not a little less. I think Brady is sharper at reading defenses than Ben is, but I also feel that the Jets are seriously riding on all four cylinders right now especially on defense. Their offense is average, but average is just fine for them if they keep their defense where it is at. The team that will give them fits is the Pack. The Pack are like some hybrid of everything the Jets wouldn't want to face. A great defense, coupled with a Patriots like receiving core and a running game that's darn good. Plus you can't pressure Aaron Rodgers. 3-19, he doesn't care. Sack him twenty times? He appears to like that, actually. Choke off his receivers short, he'll send Jennings deep and burn you. The Pack's CB are great too. They are a force to be wreckoned with.
Brady may be better at
reading a defense, but you're forgetting the fact that Big Ben is probably better than any other quarterback and making opposing defenses **** up on their own. He and Rodgers are very similar quarterbacks, and both teams have similar defenses (although Green Bay's corners are
much better than Pittsburgh's), so I think that match up in the Super Bowl could either be the most defense-heavy game played in the Super Bowl in years, or a straight up run-and-gun shootout from the two quarterbacks.
And the Jets' defense can only carry them so far- the problem with the Jets having an average offense isn't that they may not be able to put up that many points on Pittsburgh, it's that Pittsburgh's defense tends to eat young quarterbacks alive, and will force turnovers (and quite possibly points) just as they have all year. Mark Sanchez hasn't ever gone up against Troy Polamalu, so he's going to have more than his handful this weekend.
That said, Pittsburgh's offensive line issues need to get fixed, especially going up against Ryan's confusing schemes. I'm not sure if there's anyone available to be signed right now, but quite frankly if it wasn't for Big Ben, Pittsburgh's offense might have only scored six points all season. Ryan's surely going to be looking at just barreling through the offensive line all day.
It could also could be argued that Santonio Holmes might know how to maneuver through this defense a little. It's not like Dick LeBeau to use the same exact game plan ever game, but Holmes practiced with that unit every day the past few years, and knows the defensive backs and linebackers well at this point.
This'll be one hell of a game, that's for sure. At least, for the fans who like watching defense.
