2011/2012 NBA Thread: Where Weather Happens

For sure Skip Bayless is going to terrorize the Heat on his show.

Wonder what Stephen A will say...Probably how the league ****ed Rondo over.

Skip is gonna have much more than a field day with the Heat, which will most likely include a bunch of wrong statements too.

Tonight is definitely gonna fuel Stephen A Smith's crusade against the refs, unless ESPN tells him not to say anything about it. I hear his video criticizing the refs after game 1 got removed from ESPN.

But if you listened the whole way through he said it comes down to what came first and from that side replay it was pretty obvious that the foot touched before the hand.

Yet, it's not the conclusion that JVG came to, so it was pointless bringing it up.

The number of whiny ass pansies in this thread is incredible. Funny how this garbage only flares up when Miami is involved.

You get whistled for looking at one of James Harden's beard hairs, nothing. Manu Ginobili runs full speed into an apparently invisible barrier and is suddenly flung backward, no one cares. Boston has beaten people up with no calls since 2008, big deal. However, let the Heat get the slightest of benefit from a missed call and the fury of one thousand Similac-starved infants comes blazing from all sides.

Grow the **** up.

Do you see Manu Ginobli and his team get the same love and hype as the Heat does?

People have every right to bring it up (Game 1 with the nonsense technicals, game 2 with the horrible foul/non-foul calls)...Miami needs the refs just as much as they need Wade to bail them out after every Lebron miss late in the 4th.

I hate both Boston and Miami...Especially that *****e KG with his garbage illegal screens. But this game shows why the refs feel they need to have presence in a big game.

Its pathetic.

I think most people agree that the T's in the first game had minimal to no impact in the result of the game. The refs do a ****** job all the time. It only seems like when the Heat win it's "The refs gave them the game". I mean, it reeks of sour grapes. I'm not talking about you specifically.
Boston was up when they started to call those T's and it killed any momentum they had. They were looking over their shoulders the entire game afterwards. People look at the fouls total at the end and say it was called fairly but if you call fouls at the right time, it kills any momentum you have.

Hold on now, Boston got several favorable calls in the first quarter. Did that impact the game overall? No. Miami still overcame a 15 point deficit, and Boston in turn overcame a deficit too.

This game was not decided on one 's***ty' foul.

That obvious foul is called, and we're talking about how Rondo led the Celtics to victory.

Oh I agree that the Ts didn't decide the game, but it was incredibly tiresome to hear the whistle blown every two seconds. I agree that the Heat and the Lakers get more of this **** than anyone else, but let's face it....this is what happens when you hold over the top pep rallies and events like The Decision. There is a reason James Harrison gets more flags thrown than anyone else (hint, it has to do with comparing the commissioner to a certain mustached European gentleman). There is a reason the "Dream Team," Eagles took more **** than anyone else. When a team puts themselves on a pedestal (and can you really deny that the Heat and LeBron did), they invite this kind of scrutiny.

But no matter why it happens, tonight, a game was decided by the refs and that pisses me off as a sports fan.

:funny: Only J would bring up Similac in a conversation about basketball. Any other night I would agree with you. Tonight, there is a discernible point in the game where two BAD calls determined the outcome. That is unforgivable IMO.

They won't even bring it up. You forget, they are owned by ESPN who won't do anything to lose that NBA contract.

Magic calling Rondo's performance one of the best from a guard he has ever seen.

I think Boston is done.

Magic is definitely right about Rondo having one of the most impressive games of all time. I don't think anyone can deny that.

What does exposure have to do with anything? You get crappy officiating in Zeus knows how many arenas. If it's an issue with one, then it's an issue all around. You'd think the only time appearing uneven happened is when LeBron or Dwyane were involved.

You all need to hip me to some of these media outlets professing all this Heat love. On the fleeting occasion I do channel ESPN, I see sensationalistic crap, overblowing anything positive or negative.

I dunno, they're going back to Boston and after the refs determined the game...the Celts will have a chip on their shoulders. But they had a chip on their shoulders tonight and they still couldn't keep the lead. I don't think either of these teams can beat the Spurs though.

Also, did anyone else notice how quickly Magic changed the topic when they tried to talk about the refs? :funny:

KG is another one who lacks the #clutchgene always has!

is that real? lol

I don't understand why KG doesn't post up. Dude is 5 inches taller than everyone out there.

Just watched the recap on SportsCenter, of course there wasn't a single mention of the shoddy officiating. I think I'm just gonna watch the Stanley Cup finals instead of basketball for a little bit. At least those games are determined between two teams, not two teams and the refs.

KG hasn't been a heavy post player for years. Even in his prime, he mixed it up with the outside J more than occasionally. He's also likely to get worn out earlier that way and would get doubled relentlessly, kicking it to guys usually having problems contributing offensively. He's better mainly focusing on continuing to knock it down from extended midrange... which is beyond annoying.

What I want to know is when it became cool to run down the clock, ignore any advantages you might have and toss up a fadeaway or stepback jumper with the game on the line? Why does everyone do this?

I also want to know how many areas of theology Rondo researched to know how to invoke the multiple devils he made deals with. He's never shot like that in his life... and didn't get any rest all night.

Wait, why are the refs being bi***ed about with this game? This was a good ass game, both sides got to the line a decent amount of times and one missed call with Wade's forearm tapping Rondo's forehead and people are saying the refs gave them the game? Really? This was a fight and Rondo even lost his mind. Ray Allen nearly went off and a lot went right for the Celtics. Sheesh. Stop bringing up the referees, for once.

Here's the thing, most basketball games are so high scoring that one play or bad call doesn't matter (as Phere said, the Ts on Monday changed nothing at all). Those two calls however, completely changed the course of the game at a crucial moment and essentially decided the game.

Disagree. Both teams had huge opportunities slip through their fingers tonight. What became of Boston had nothing to do with those two calls.

I'll give you the Rondo head smack. I refuse to give you the Wade kick as that could've gone either way.

A no call on a foul on a layup that could have tied the game had no effect?

Even if you're right, it wouldn't have happened without the head smack.
