Regardless of who is coaching him, I just don't see Gabbert having the talent to be anything more than a Matt Moore type (a really good back up who can have an okay season but nothing spectacular).

Better be careful what you say about etm's lover :wow:

In other news around the league:

Colts have hired Ryan Grigson, Director of Player Personnel for the Philadelphia Eagles a GM

I'm mixed on this one. Grigson was a part of the horrible Michael Vick contract, on the other hand, he helped assemble the dream team. Regardless of how they did on the field, putting all that talent together is a huge accomplishment. He can't be held accountable for Andy Reid's failures. Might be a solid hire. I look forward to seeing how long until Caldwell gets the boot under him (2 days, maybe?).

Furthermore...

Green Bay Packers Offensive Coordinator's son found dead

Tragic news, but you have to wonder if Philbin will be there on Sunday and if so, how this will affect him.

So sad to hear about Philbin's son. To be sure he won't be at the game? How could he focus?

It looks like Jeff Fisher will be making the choice to choose the Dolphins today

Wow, this surprises me. I had him pegged for St. Louis. Less competitive division, more talent, more competent front office and more supportive ownership.

Sometimes when you lose someone, having something to occupy your mind can help.

It was said that people close to him told him that St. Louis had he better deal. But Ross offered him the bigger pay check So this might be something he regrets if he picks the Dolphins

So Fisher would rather play in AFC East with Matt Moore as his QB, then NFC West? I know Niners are great right now, but they also have Alex Smith as their QB. In AFC East, Fisher's Dolphins will have to face Brady & Belichick twice a year. I guess the money they are giving him is too enticing to turn down.

I guess it would also be less work for Fisher. All he has to do is show up at games. Im sure Ireland will make most of the decisions. Other wise why turn down another team where he would have a lot of control & say over things ?

The SEC Facebook page posted this a bit ago...http://nflspinzone.com/2012/01/11/jets-players-call-mark-sanchez-lazy-want-peyton-manning/

The mess with the New York Jets just keeps getting worse this offseason. The most recent target of criticism is quarterback Mark Sanchez and, unfortunately for the young signal-caller, the criticism is coming from his own teammates.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News wrote an article early this morning that claims numerous veteran players want Sanchez out. In fact, they would like Peyton Manning or another veteran brought to New York in Sanchez’s place.

One anonymous — however brave — player said, “We have to bring in another quarterback that will make him work at practice. He’s lazy and content because he knows he’s not going to be benched.”

Another Jets source said, ““Come on. That’s a no-brainer. If you have a chance to get a healthy 36-year-old Peyton Manning and you don’t do it, then you’re stupid. If I could get a healthy 36-year-old Peyton Manning, then, hell yeah, I would trade Sanchez.”

Peyton Manning, would you rather go to NY where your brother plays in the same stadium, where you have a suspect defense outside of Revis, not much of a running game and only one good receiver who now that he has his paycheck has an attitude or would you rather go to San Francisco where they can pretty much just plug you in and win?

If I were Payton, I'd much rather play for Jim Harbaugh and the Niners than for Rex Ryan and the Jets. And right now Jets are imploding with so many locker room drama, and I don't think any player would be happy walking into their current situation.

Peyton just needs to hang it up. He's had an amazing career, and there is no sense in risking further neck injuries. Retire with dignity Manning, and don't be like whats his name that played for the Packers for a few years.

I'm interested to see if the Colts release him to give him that option.

In order to do that he would need to retire and come back, and be handy with a cell phone camera.

Things aren't really looking good for the Jets. Now that it seems that players are turning on Sanchez saying his lack of work ethic and that he doesn't fear being benched. (Funny, I heard Rex state how Sanchez is the first and last person to leave the facility.)

I wanna see Smith develop as opposed to Manning... :csad:

Smith isn't in the greatest position right now if Manning does become available especially if he goes 1 and done in the Playoffs. True he could develop more next year, but I think a lot of people would rather take Manning towards the end of his career then Smith with potential.

You'd think the Jets would've learned about bringing in veteran quarterbacks after they brought in He Who Shall Not Be Named in 08.

Not good news for the Jets and their fans. Seems like that thing is really starting to implode. If Sanchez has really lost his teammates that bad (and I believe it) things will only get worse.

Thing with Manning going to SF, he could help Smith develop. I think if Manning chooses to, when he retires he'll be a QB coach or O-coordinator anyway.
