I think it'd be great if it were the 49ers and Ravens because then that just prove that we need to start taking a bit of the emphasis off of these so called "elite" quarterbacks just because they can throw for 400 yards every game.

I think we've already been reminded how important defense is by the fact that both the Saints and Packers were eliminated.

The 49ers making it would be interesting, because with the exception of Willis and maybe Gore, the tean is unknown.

In a sea of nonsensical garbage, a buoy of common sense appears.

Thank You Sir. Thank You.:hrt:

 The Saints were eliminated in a game where they scored 32 points. But you're right, they were knocked out by defense...their own.

Most of these high flying offenses have no defense to compliment them. If your quarterback can thrown for 600 yards thats great but if your defense cant help out and keep the opponent from scoring then your done. had the saints had a better defense maybe were talking saints giants in the NFC title game but were not. I truly believe the ravens will prove my point again this sunday and eliminate a high powered offense that will struggle. If brady and eli get eliminated this weekend then what will all the elit QB lovers have to say?

Also coupled with the fact they turned the rock over 4 or more times early in the game and found themselves in a big hole and had to throw thus creating more problems.

But will the opposite prove true?

If you have a stellar defense, do you need more than a QB who manages and whose role is just not to turn it over. Flacco can sling it BUT it seems like the Ravens want to keep it safe.

A lot of comments made by Reed and some of the others seem to appear that this is the Defense's team, don't screw it up on Offense.

I don't know ... I'd still like to take my chances with someone like Brees or Rodgers.

It is nice seeing some of the more defensive focused teams having success, though.

Personally, in a season where the media was salivating all over elite QBs like Rodgers and Brees, I'm glad two defensive-minded teams with good-but-not-great QBs made it to their conference's championship. However, we still have two elite QBs left (Brady and Manning), and it remains to be seen what teams will meet in the Superbowl. But with both Packers and Saints out of the playoff, things just got alot more interesting.

The Ravens and Niners aren't exactly slouches on the offensive side of the ball. Flacco is more than just a game managing QB and Rice and Gore are great RB's. Toss in guys like Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis and you have some players there.

Sure the defenses rule the roost on those teams, but neither team is exactly the 2000 Ravens by any stretch.

But... but... I thought it was The Year of the Quarterback.

ESPN said so.

Its definitely defensive geared but the offense bailed out the defense some this year too thanks to joe and boldin and rice cooking in the second half. Its simple what there doing, get atleast 20 - 30 points and let the defense hunt. I trust joe at this point, I mean who else are we gonna plug in 3 days before the biggest game of the season for us? When in doubt...........

20 points might not be enough. My point is don't wait until the 4th quarter to put it up.

Flacco is an okay QB, but I don't think he is more than a game manager. He has good weapons on that team, yet puts up meh numbers. I think game manager is a fair assessment of him. But, that doesn't mean they can't win with him. Clearly they can.

I want to see him get cut for running his mouth at some point. I mean at his age coming off an injury that severe just give it up and maybe go into broadcasting or something. The talent level just isnt there anymore.

Well, Owens has an ownership stake in the team, so they probably couldn't cut him even if they wanted to. They won't anyway... until this story broke, I guarantee that 99% of the population in this country had never even heard of the Allen Wranglers. Hell, I didn't even know there was a town in Texas named Allen. So they'll want to hang onto him in hopes that they might actually sell half of their tickets.
