Also, Casino Royale only made 7 million more in the US than Die Another Day. :o

That's what happens when word of the mouth is good, especially considering that CR made less money opening weekend.

How about a more interesting one. How about Bourne Legacy?

How much this one will make will be very interesting indeed.

QoS made more a lot more OW but ended up with the same total.

Actor taking over for a role(which it basically is) where they really liked Damon in and are familiar with is usually not good. But Renner got a lot of exposure as Hawkeye. But it shares its release date with Total Recall which is a direct competition. Both movies will hurt each other.

I think around 250-300 mill WW for Bourne. I really like the look of it, one of the best trailers i've seen in a while.

I have to say, Jeremy Renner must have one awesome agent. :o

You don't think he's a good actor? After Hurt Locker it was inevitable he'd get big roles.

It's one thing to be a good actor, it's another thing to be in, what, 4 major blockbusters in the span of a year.

He's like Taylor Kitsch, only capable and successful.

What do you mean by 4, unless you're counting Hansel and Gretel, I'm not counting Thor.

Miscounted. :o

Although The Town was semi-high profile too.

Well by January of 2013 we will know how it all pans out, he's got two down so far that's pretty good to great. While these next two have the potential to be awesome too. So yes your statement could hold true.

Btw, didn't The Town feel like it was the misshapen lovechild of The Dark Knight and The Departed?

Only, yknow, not nearly as good.

You call yourself a Marvel fan and then refer to Avengers as "big dumb fun" with Battleship and MIB3? TDKR may be following one of the highest grossing comic book movie (not anymore after The Avengers), but TDK also had a perfect storm with Ledger playing the most well-known villain in Batman's rogue gallery, and TDKR will have to catch TA's unprecedented run at the box office without 3D, which means they will have to sell way more tickets just to match up. Even with IMAX, I don't think it can be done, but we'll find out in 2 months.

I do consider myself a Marvel buff but why cant I call the avengers big dumb fun? You go in and dont take it serious but you go for the eye candy of special effects and corny one liners and the heroes teaming up. I mean can I really take a movie seriously when you have a god/green rage monster/ 70 year old super soldier and a man in a iron suit? I didnt expect much of a story and mostly action and I was spot on. I think you can compare batman and the avengers because lets face it there comicbook movies and you even have 2 billionares that are super heroes and dont have any real powers from there own genetics. If anyone went into the avengers expecting a deep story that drove the action then Im sorry for you. Well Batman doesnt need 3D to match the avengers just great WOM. The avengers was even post converted and to be honest the 3D wasnt that grea, I actually took my glasses off a couple times for the night shots. Like another poster said The Avengers was more in vein of transformers then godfather and a few years from now after Ive owned it on bluray Ill put it in and skip the boring scenes and go straight to the action.

The town was great from start to finish and even made me like ben affleck again. who didnt smirk when he clipped the guys bsack at the end?

Do you think we'll get a bond film that grosses 200 million domestic? I'm surprised that casino royale didn't?

I don't see why the bourne and M:I franchises have some 200 million domestic films but not bond?

I think the problems is that when you say that it's in the vein of Transformers, it means different things to different people. Same with calling it Big Dumb fun. I must admit that comparing it to movies like Transformers and Battleship is a bit of a disservice to the Avengers since it's a much better made movie than it.

I've explained why I personally wouldn't compare the two movies and others are free to do what they want obviously. There was a story that drove the action and I there was more subtext than what was believed to be, but as Morningstar said, this movie is great balance of people that want to look deeper, and great for people who want just escapism.
