I don't get the love for the Penguin and the Riddler. They're pretty gimicky, one-note villains.

I'll take Bane over them any day.

I just wish Nolan didn't take away his ethnicity. Bane to me was the Third World version of Batman symbolically.

The interview EW did with Hardy seems to indicate he's still very much "ethnic".

Hardy, adding that the voice he developed was influenced by many factors, including a desire to honor the comic book character’s brains and Caribbean heritage. “The audience mustn’t be too concerned about the mumbly voice,” says Hardy. “As the film progresses, I think you’ll be able to tune to its setting.”

Regardless Bane racially was always white. His father is English and his mother is South American with Spanish descent.

But he still looks like he's European.

I don't understand why they didn't go with Javier Bardem. He's no slouch at acting and he's a master at playing intimidating badasses.

No I think he works better as a product of a harsh prison culture within the confines of a brutal gangster government.

Only someone who could thrive in that environment could break Batman like a dry toothpick.

Na, i like the isolated jungle tribe idea. Where they live of guano and what not. The symbolism of Bane living on Bat droppings, then coming to Gotham to break Batman is rich and compelling.

Generally speaking the indeginous inhabitants of europe are white, just as in africa they're black and asia well asian. As for the america's it's whatever descendants of those continents who immigrated there..or the native americans
