I don't think any big comic book movie has ever had to face to this type of competition before. Congrats to Wwz, the little engine that could. It is the Rise of the Plant of the Apes of this year

Monsters U. was already in the bag, you knew this.

That's a huge X-Men-like drop for MoS this weekend.

Wow nothing is even really coming close to iron man 3 box office wise. The hobbit probably will though.

Domestic certainly, but WW? That is still up for question.

I hate to bring in THG again, but MOS's second Saturday bump percentage was roughly equivalent to that film's. Then you have a smaller Saturday-to-Sunday decrease (25% versus THG's 39%).

If the third weekend gross drops less than 50% (like to $20M-$22M), then it'll get to $300M domestic.

Does this take weekly sales into account.
Never understand this.

I have a feeling it's going to hit 16 or so next weekend. There are just way too many options.

To be fair, THG opened with no competition at all in late March 2012. Plus, the demographics aren't that similar to MOS. I was wrong comparing MOS's run to THG's, they're apples and oranges at best.

But the summer release works in MOS' favor, since the weekdays are stronger due to kids being out of school. If the weekdays during the second week fall around 50% or less, that could help if the third weekend falls to $16M-$18M.

Australia - DM2 opened last weekend and is holding strong at #2 behind Man Of Steel’s opening. The cume Down Under is now $10M.

It opened overseas already? ****.

Not a good drop for WWZ. Saw it yesterday. I like it, good movie, bit slow at times, bit too much shaky cam, damn...Brad Pitt is a good actor.

$123M ish after two weeks...should get to $150M Domestic.

As for the ending in the movie and expensive alt ending aka original ending

After reading about the first ending shot in Russia, glad they reshot the 3rd act. Sorry, Matthew Fox. Your overacting wasn't needed after all :o
