24: Live Another Day - Part 2

Jon Cassar said in an interview that he loves working with Carlos Bernard and they're good friends (obviously could just be producer shtick) so I'm sure if they can figure out a way to do it they will.

I can't see how they would it would sorta ruin his character if they made him good again. I'd just think they'd spend his character arc with a is-he-bad/isn't-he-bad sort of thing. However, this bluray extra that involves Tony could prove otherwise.

Hey, maybe Tony and Steve Navarro will cross paths in prison, and Steve tells Tony something that could help Jack out.

You should have seen me watching this episode. I kept going back and forth: Kate will die! No, No, it's Audrey! lol. I thought everyone but Jack would die :oldrazz:

Great moments for sure. Loved the whole samurai sword bit. The way Jack disposed of the bad guys this season was epic lol.

Audrey's death was so sad, and Heller's words in the end were touching too. Fantastic moments. Great acting all around. Kieffer is beyond amazing, as usual. He's taken the character to a whole new level imo.

Bittersweet ending for me. I didnt want Jack to have a horrible end, but i guess this is open enough for another season. Jack needs to be rescued!! :cmad:

No show gets you on the edge of your seat like 24. :D

Agreed, it's a toss up between Margot and Cheng's death for best of the season.

I was never a big Audrey fan but her death was definitely untactful. Kiefer's work as Jack is amazing, he does so much in key scenes without saying a word at times.

Jack sacrificing himself for Chloe was tragically befitting of who he is I thought, but if they do a 10th season I think they might as well have him get home to his family and find some peace, as at this point no death would be epic enough given what he has lived through.

I finally decided on my ranking order....at least for now!

1. Season 5
2. Season 7 (Redemption)
3. Season 2
4. Season 1
5. Season 9 (Live Another Day)
6. Season 4
7. Season 8
8. Season 3
9. Season 6

I have no idea what my order is? I've only watched every season once.

I'm just surprised season two keeps getting ranked so high.

I would have agreed with you a few weeks ago because it used to be near the bottom of my list (probably above only S6), but having just re-watched it as a part of a re-watch of the whole series that I'm still working on, I must say it's gone up a lot in my eyes, while my love for S1 has gone down. The key to enjoying S2 is basically just tuning out all the Kim BS, lol. The A-plot is a ripping good yarn. It doesn't touch my faves (S5 and S3), but it's still one of the better seasons, imo.

do anyone know why President Daniels gave Charles Logan a pardon for his involvement in David Palmer assassination instead of revealing to the public.....it might be more interesting if the public know the truth

The finale just finished here in Australia last night.

Everything seemed to be open for a continuation in some way. Kate Morgan seems set for another major storyline, Chloe is still around, and Jack is as ready as ever to continue fighting for truth, justice, and the American way!

I would consider that the Russian government would be open from appeals from the United States, Britain, and even China to show justice to Jack Bauer and listen to all the circumstances why he should be released. Surely it was a rogue element of Russia who conducted the atrocities against Jack's loved one. And it was a rogue element of China involved in the final season. Jack's captor surely would be open to understanding the situation.

The only thing holding back another season would be how well it rated and if the network wishes to pick up another series. Perhaps finally a cinema appearance of our favourite JB is in order!

Just sayin', I like to think that the Russian government has human considerations. It is just a bit off to have them played in a Cold War stance. Heller gave the premier of China an opportunity to stop WWIII, so maybe Jack can be used by the Russians to stop a major war in some way without becoming a traitor.

And of course, I expect Chloe and Kate Morgan to be major players.

SOON PLEASE!

If FOX won't do another season, Netflix would probably jump all over it -if it's feasible, of course. I don't claim for a moment to be any kind of expert in how that business works.

Yeah even though Logan was said to have significant brain damage at the end of S8 they could easily bring him back. One simple line of dialogue ("The damage to his brain wasn't as nearly bad as we initially thought") and he's right back. However, as much as Gregory Itzin is wonderful and downright weasily in the role I think it would feel like retreading grown that has already been trod on too many times. It's like Who's the bad guy? Oh it's that ruddy Logan again.

Live Another Day showed it could still head a newer directions and I hope they'd do that with a new season.

I still hold out hope that an announcement of a new season will be at comic con. It seems odd that they'd be there purely to talk about the season and the blu-ray extras. Reading interviews with Cassar it's certainly clear that they're thinking about it and with the ratings it had Fox will no doubt greenlight another season. They've already spoken about how they'd like to explore Jack's age as well as how they would possibly have meetings in a month or so. Just a simple "It's seems like all systems go or a season 10" comment from Sutherland or whoever is there would be great.

However, I think people are getting their hopes up a little with a season in Russia or about how Jack will work the Russians. 24 has knack of resetting back to normal. S5 he was back from the "dead" and everything was normal after 3 episodes. S6 they had a similar situation as he was taken by the Chinese and could have had a season where he worked for China but after about 3 episodes where Jack is "sacrificed" it reverted back to normal. S8 he was living a normal life and was "out". And LAD he was on the run but soon after three or four episodes he was back to missions for CTU.

It wouldn't surprise me if we see him work for Russians for 2 episodes and then it's back to normal and he is working for Americans.

Yeah, I think for Netflix to grab a show like 24 would take everything falling in the right place. Not saying it couldn't happen, but it would seem extremely tough to do so.

I am just about ready to accept a movie for cinema release.

John McClane may have come to a sad demise, but there seems to be plenty of life still in the Jack Bauer franchise.

And maybe even a return of CTU. Put Chloe O'Brian in charge!

The basic genre of 24 lends itself to a movie but for me I'm worried it would simply turn into Bourne redux. I don't want a straghtforward thriller. The realtime aspect is vital to the show and obviously you cant do that in a film a "Jack Bauer has 2 hours to stop a nuke" just wouldn't work so then you'd have to abandon what is essential to the show IMO.

Besides I'd always choose a series over a film. Why choose a 2 hour film when I can have a fully fleshed out 12/24 episode season? Where I can spend 24 hours with these characters. I'd rather have a 24 episode season with 3 or so episodes where it drags over a 2 hour rushed film that loses one of the core "gimmicks" that makes the show what it is.

^^^Yeah, based on what Mary Lynn says in that video, they definitely seem to be planning more. Almost sounds like what we got was an alternate ending in case they decided they wanted more.

Also, this is encouraging:
Peter Rice, who as chairman of the Fox Networks Group oversees the Fox Network, told the Television Critics Association over the weekend that he’d “love” to see a 10th season of “24.”

“24: Live Another Day," said Rice, "was twisted and fantastic. It’s a wonderful franchise, and when you look at the show itself, it has many more stories to tell.”

At this point, I'll be a little shocked if they DON'T announce a new season at the SDCC panel this week.

I dont see netflix or any other network snatching up 24. the vibe I get is Kiefer and the others involved want to do 24 only if they dont get burned out or run out of ideas mid season. Its more or less them getting the right story together before rolling the cameras ever again. There staying with Fox forever.

I think the only other way to go is a movie personally.

Just do one more thing where Jack gets a happy ending

I don't think Cheung suffered enough. Not to mention 'beheading' in Asian cultures is considered honorable ..and Cheung didn't deserve an honorable death.

at that moment, I don't think Jack gave a s**t about honorable... right then and there, his worst enemy was dead... dead... DEAD...

so tomorrow is the 24 SDCC panel......we might or might not get news on 24 season 10 renew

I'll be surprised if not. They don't even need to give a scrap of detail or can say they havent even begun discussing ideas, just say that fox have greenlit it. At least at comic con it would generate a bit more buzz than a standard dull online press release. Cassar has already said they're gonna meet in a month to come up with ideas. It would be quite antii climatic for it to JUST be the bluray.

I've also been rewatching some old seasons and unless it takes a serious u turn season 6 isnt as bad as I thought. Unfortunately it is just a rehash of every 24 cliche in one season. Still better than many seasons of shows I've seen since its original airing.

The comic con panel just wrapped. No new season announced :(

Too early I'd say.
They still have plenty of time to do so since they didn't start writing LAD until the beginning of July 2013 and didn't start production/filming until January of this year. I'm sure they have some general ideas of where to take the show so it's not like they'll be starting from scratch.
