2 more cast members have signed on:
Fox’s 24: Live Another Day continues to fortify its ranks.
Gbenga Akinnagbe, whose previous TV roles include The Wire‘s Chris Partlow and Graceland baddie Bello, has been cast in the 12-episode event series as Erik Ritter, an ambitious CIA operative, our sister site Deadline reports.

Similarly, Giles Matthey (aka True Blood‘s Claude Crane) will play CIA computer tech Jordan Reed.

Interesting. Have their been any CIA operatives featured in past seasons? I know there were a few in the books, since CTU is related to the CIA.

According to David Fury's twitter, he just had dinner with Carlos Bernard...could Tony be back???!

Man, I would love for Tony to come back, his character needs to be redeemed really bad. He did some truly awful things during season 7 but it was out of a sense of pain and loss for Michelle. I think deep down the old Tony is still in there. The question is can Jack ever really forgive him?

I think Jack might only forgive Tony if he admitted that what he did was wrong.

No active ones have ever been shown, but Jack was said to be former CIA, as was CTU Agent Gael Ortega in Season 3 and Nadia Yassir in Season 6. One of the main villains from Season 5, James Nathanson, was ex-CIA.

Thanks! So it's just ex-CIA.

I loved the book, Trinity, where CTU had just started and was very underfunded and the CIA was doubting it. Henderson brought Jack in to help and Jack didn't liek CTU, but they worked together to stop an assassination plot tied to the church. The villains drove Jack in circles and everyone was getting frustrated as hell lol. Then Jack at the end tells Henderson that they were so unprepared and CTU is so disorganised, so Jack decides to help them out.

If I remember correctly, Jack and Secretary Heller didn't end on good terms(Season 6). Unless his opinion has changed of Jack, I really can't see him doing that.

I agree it wasn't on "good terms". But I think Heller's initial reaction was that of any concerning father. Once he got the facts of Audrey's case, I'm sure his opinion of Jack would have changed. He did NOT know that Jack risked his life to save Audrey and he didn't know that the government was willing to prevent saving Audrey to prevent "World War III". Heller has always acted (in a professional capacity..he didn't have a job in s6) in what he feels is the country's best interests. He was really stupid IMO for his plan to try to get Logan to step down quietly since he essentially made himself a target until 7AM (since Logan had until then to resign).

And the United States (in 24 universe) has pardoned far more nefarious characters than Jack's actions in s8 (Nina, Mandy, etc.)

I really like the Tony Almeida character (don't think the actor is that good though). But his character is great because he is such a good parallel to Jack. Both have essentially the same life experiences but responded much differently to them (Tony's actions in s7 versus Jack's in s8).

Both have had their wives killers pardoned by the US President. Although the difference is that Nina wasn't working with the US President at the time while Henderson obviously was working with the US President. Both were manipulated by Nina.

You're right. He was a concerned father. When Keller said every time someone gets around Jack, people die, it makes me think otherwise.

Nina Myers and Mandy received Presidential Pardons because they had information vital to the country. If Jack had information that could help his country, he would never withhold it for a pardon.

Should it be called 24 if there's only 12 episodes? I mean...I dunno, can't they try a different formula for a change? I mean...sigh

It seems to still take place during 24 hours. The hours that are of no consequence to the story won't be shown, so maybe that's why the show's name still makes sense - I think.

I hope one episode just ends with Jack saying "...I gotta use the bathroom."

Perfect, we definitely need Jack back. 24 deserves a proper ending.

April. That's crazy. GOT and 24 is a fantastic combination.

Does anyone know when this is due to begin filming? Has it already begun?

I have no idea. April seems to be the release of this series but no idea when they shoot it.

Me too. It felt too fast for me. I couldn't keep up.

Hope we see him again, though, for whatever reason.

I've been following Kiefer on twitter, very quiet.

I'd heard April as well. But if they aren't already filming then I just can't see how that can be done...

Whenever filming does start, I hope to get to hear about it. As I would love to go down to London and actually see them filming and maybe even grab an autograph from Kiefer or Mary Lynn
