26 yr old Teacher pregnant with a 16 yr old students baby

The sexual maturity argument aside, what I find to be repulsive is the fact that this teacher is pregnant with a student's child. I believe it's so important to keep a line drawn between those two roles. A teacher needs to be someone his/her students/kids can respect. Without that respect, a teacher cannot properly teach their students. I think that the teacher should have known better, at the VERY least, professionally, than to cross that line. Part of her role is to shape her students for their future :/

Don't give me that "rape" argument. When your 16 you can make these kind of decisions on your own.

That, to me, is the bigger issue here. Whether or not it constitutes as rape is a moot point, IMO. In no way shape or form should a dependent minor be conceiving a child. It's not just an issue of maturity, it's an issue of sufficiency.

I think there is a lesson to be learned here. Wear a protection.

Very true but I doubt she is going to be teaching classes anytime soon.
We can talk all about the sanctity of the teacher-student relationship but the fact is that some people don't have the maturity to accept responsibility and give the required dignity to the teaching profession. They just don't take it seriously and don't really care for student welfare.

She probably just became a teacher to earn money and that's it. Of course she would actually have to have some people skills to control the students and actually teach them something.

Like I said, she should be considered a sex offender and not allowed to be a teacher at all. This is essentially exploitation.

Rape is different from a facepalm.

Rape is what happened to this boy.

A facepalm is what I'm giving you.

Pretending that neither is true is just dishonest.

I call shenanigans. This wasn't close to rape.

EDIT: Obviously I see this debate has already been sufficiently waged so I will not get into it.

Considering all the incidents of this that have taken place over the years, do the education systems parameters tend to miss these nutballs getting through the cracks or what?

Niceeee

Judging by many of the comments in this thread, I'd say there are quite a few people here who need to watch that episode of South Park.

Seriously, if this was a 16 year old girl who got pregnant through a 26 year old teacher, would we all be high fiving the teacher?

If this had been my son , I would've shook his hand and given him a beer.

No ****ing way. It's just different for guys. It's not sexist or anything. It's the truth.

If a 16 year old guy has sex and doesn't get any STD's or whatever, he's fine. But for girls, she can get preggers. And that can ruin her life. It's a fact

I've heard about football player rapists but never raped football players.

but seriously, since she's carrying this teens baby I think she should have the rape charges dropped. Everyone knows that this teenage boy made his own decisions in the matter. It takes two to tango. So why should this baby have to be labeled a "rape product" just because two ****ing idiots made a mistake.

OK, that's freaking it. Watch this South Park episode, everyone.

The sad part is, the idiotic way in which the adults in this episode behave is exactly how half the people in this forum are acting. Female-on-male statutory rape is not any less serious than male-on-female statutory rape. If the kid is a minor and incapable of making rational decisions about sex, then IT IS RAPE. It's not a joke, and it's not a "conquest." It's a kid getting taken advantage of by a teacher, not the other way around. Get that through your thick heads (the one above your shoulders).

WHY ARE PEOPLE BEHAVING LIKE HE WAS USED FOR GOD'S SAKE!
He is 16, he makes a decision, it's not like at age of 16 you are mentally ******ed and can't make a decision, seriously....

Not bad.

Add her to the list of hot teachers who's going to jail for fulfilling male students sex fantasies.

Shouldn't these hot teachers get a free pass? C'mon let's be honest. A teenage boy who has sex with a hot young woman is hardly a victim unless he's gay.
Girls are different from boys.

Pretending they are the same is just dishonest.

but yeah I was just joking about "hot women getting a free pass". It's far too logical to ever be enforced.
Then I'm assuming that you would also be just fine with the situation if the teacher had been a male that seduced this boy, so long as the male teacher in question took the "passive" role in their sexual encounters?

The job security of the Educational field makes it one of the most appealing to the worst sort of minds in the country. Which is sad, ironic and the reason for it's ineffectiveness.

Because we are intelligent, and we realize that double standards should not apply in instances of statutory rape. A 16 year old girl should not have sex with a 26 year old teacher, so why should a boy? Its people like you who help victimize male rape victims even moreso than female rape victims, because at least female rape victims get sympathy. When a male gets raped though, people like you who only think with their little organ always act like it's no big deal and that the guy is lucky to have gotten "free sex," and completely ignore all of the psychological and emotional damage that comes with it. You should be ashamed of yourself, but I know you won't be because you wish it was you that got molested by a teacher.

Ending the double standard should be focused on saying that 16 year old girls are responsible for their actions instead of pretending that 16 year old boy's aren't.

LOL! That is way to logical in America Normin. We no longer deal in that.

Why? When you're 16 you are half ******ed because your homones are raging and YOUR BRAIN ISN'T DONE YET! You are completely missing what the problem is-- the problem is not that our standards for teenage girls are too high, the problem is that we as a society do not want to acknowledge that a male should be upset if he gets raped by a woman! We have it in our heads that if a man gets raped by a woman, it's just free sex, and that double standard is going to continue to exist even if we did as you suggest and "dropped the double standard" by not treating female victims of statutory rape as victims. If we follow your train of logic, then it ends with male-on-female rape no longer being taken seriously. Rape is rape, no matter who is on the recieving end, and that is something that we cannot afford to stop taking seriously. Maybe if you had a PhD in psychology I would be able to take your statement more seriously and not just look at it as typical pooplah.

Teenagers should NOT be getting molested by teachers, regardless of gender, PERIOD.

It's because if this was a 16 year old girl having sex with her 26 year old male teacher, people would be calling the teacher a perv, and saying he took advantage of his position, etc. You can't have a double standard. The rule/law has to be equal both ways.

Your right, 16 year olds can make their own decisions, but if this was a 16 year old girl, people would be calling her the victim....

First of all, Stop putting words in my mouth and disrespecting me like this. You have no right to this what so ever.

I never said this is good, I said you are blowing this way out of proportion, I don't see how this is rape. He had a choice, even if he is 16, I remember what I was like at 16, if you're smart enough to know when to say no, you say no. She wasn't making him do it, he did not tell anyone about it, nor tried to stop her so he didn't mind it. If it was a girl, I would've said the exact same thing. I don't know where you're from, but here it's legal to have sex at 15. And at 16 you should at least know if things like this are a good idea or not. You're all behaving like he was 11, he was 16. 16 is old enough for your own decisions.

I wouldn't like my brother or son to have sex with a teacher, but to say this is all her fault is ridiculous.
