28 weeks later

I would have been 15 or 16 when that movie came out. Matthew Broderick wasn't exactly my idea of great casting.

Broderick was awesome as Gadget. when i saw the trailer i was like "holy crap gadget is real!!" then i saw the movie Broderick WAS Gadget.

either way he was better than French Stewart...

Two reasons not to have kids. :cmad:

1) If it weren't for them the **** would've remained contained.
2) The ass that thought it was a good idea to bring a two year old in to see the movie and continued to wander about and talk. *the finger* :down

I'll have to say due to my inability to completely focus because of the munchkin :cmad: and the tapping on my chair,it was ok,I knew it wasn't going to live up to the first but I still enjoyed it. Wasn't as intense as I thought it would be but that could be because of the booze I had before entering the theater. :O

LOL I think you will like it much more without the booze, kids and annoyances :P

I just saw this movie today.

I thought it was great. Had some really genuine scares.

The cast was good and it had a few good set-pieces, and the direction was up to par, but the plot was just too full of holes for me to like this movie.

We have the last infected human being in our lab and nobody puts a guard on her?

They shut down all the lights in the city only to replace them with worse lighting?

There's no guards protecting the MASS of people they've shoved into that tiny basement?

The dad tracking them made no sense. Infected just attack, they don't stalk. Plus how the hell did he manage to keep up with them, especially when they got that car ride.

I can understand the first order to kill everyone when the outbreak was breaking loose (when there was a giant mass of people), but after that it was ridiculous that they would continue to kill civilians.

And how the hell was I supposed to sympathize with the kids? They broke the quarantine, for no good reason, which was in place to PROTECT them and are indirectly responsible for the deaths of MILLIONS.

Sigh.

I don't think they were fully aware how dangerous the mother was...think about it, as soon as the army found out, they went to have her destroyed straight away. I don't t hink they fully realised the threat untill it was too late.

The dad got the virus from his ''immune'' wife, so for all we know, she carried a different strain of the rage virus.

I can't really explain the lighting but it's not a big deal anyway.

It was the kid's fault, but if you think about it, the reasons to them weren't silly, the boy just wanted a picture of his mother so he didn't forget her face. I know it's no excuse, but surely you can have some sort of sympathy with that?

If any of those civllians were infected, and broke quarentine....well look what happened at the end of the movie when civillians escaped.

Well, they noticed the bite marks immediately and that caused quite a bit of stir. In any case, there should have been a doctor, nurse, orderly, somebody watching her. For her to be all alone (so much so that no one was in the area to notice the screaming) was pushing it a bit too far.

Well, I don't think there's anything in the movie to hint that the virus had undergone some kind of mutation, but in any case if that were true then everybody that the father infected would have the same strain of the virus. The rest of them didn't seem to be anything but your regular angry as ****, not much in the way of subtlety, rage victims.

I'm sure they could have asked their dad, given his position he could have pulled a few strings to get somebody to drop by the house.

Actually, the outbreak into Europe occurs because of the Army's indiscriminate killing following the fire bombing, not in spite of it.

If the Army had tried to rescue survivors, and they could clearly be differentiated from the Infected, then they would have been able to control the movements of the survivors, put them into quarantine and run tests to make sure everybody is clean.

And honestly, that's what the army WOULD have done in such a situation.

Actually, the outbreak had nothing to do with the army's indiscriminate killing. If they had killed every civillian, how many would have been left to leave the country? How else would an infected civillian escaped if they had everyone who could be infected killed? They did the right thing, and every soldier who disobeyed orders to get the kids out basically indirectly infected france . Tell me this...if the kid would have been killed, would he have been able to infect france by getting away? Yes or no? Plus, the army's firebombing seemed to take out most of the infected anyway, so had the kids not escaped, thenn the infection would have died in england again most likely.

I said the dad was infected with the new strain, but again, it could have been diluted in his victims because he wasn't the originator of the strain. Maybe it was only the family that had the new strain, because he seemed to track the kids witht he sole purpose of infecting them (like william birkin in resident evil 2 who wanted to infect his family as they were suitible hosts for his dna). I dont know but it just takes a bit of imagination to think up possible awnsers.

They could have asked their dad I guess, but they are kids. Dont tell me you never did anything stupid. and since they werent around during the original infection, so they didn't realise the magnitude of the danger. They saw the aftermath but not what caused it.

Seems to me personally you are nitpicking for the sake of it, but it's up to you if you want to do that. I personally think thinking about it, there are a lot of reasons for the ifs and whys, but if you wanted clear cut explanations then it's not really a movie for you I guess.

Haven't seen this yet but probably will soon. Can't believe it's doing so badly at the B.O.!

Can someone clear something up for me?

Not long after watching 28 Weeks Later, the thought occured to me... "hey, waitaminute, did that ending contradict stuff in the first movie??".

In the first movie, didn't they already say the infection had spread to france in news reports?? Been so long since I watched the first movie.

In the first movie, while it never fully explains it, the chaos in the country created a lot of rumours and controversy and that selina and the others heard these rumours and took it as fact. But it's never stated that it definitly did happen, and as you see from the plane, life did continue as normal outside england.

Fox Atomic Gives Horror the Boot? Forget '28 Years Later'...

Meeting various development folks around town have led me to some really interesting news. Apparently the ONLY horror film in the works right now over at Fox Atomic is their PG-13 remake of The Entity, which is being directed by Japanese filmmaker Hideo Nakata (The Ring Two, Ringu). What's even more disappointing is that Fox Atomic had planned on taking the 28 Days Later franchise up until 28 Years Later, which as of this moment, will never happen. Now if DVD sales are through the roof for 28 Weeks Later and horror regains some lost momentum, maybe we'll work our way towards seeing 28 Months Later. Go support your genre and help kick-start the flooded engine.

More 28 fun?

The infectious franchise that is 28 DAYS LATER may have hit that point that every franchise gets to, where another installment may be harder to achieve than expected. But original director Danny Boyle seems to know where the story will go.

"Oh, we've definitely got an idea of where it'll turn next but who knows if it'll ever happen," Boyle told Shocktillyoudrop. And in a way of dropping a subtle hint that the problem maybe the result of the studio’s control, Boyle said this about the possibility of doing the film without Fox Atomic’s involvement: “That's complicated because the series is big in the U.S. so I don't think we ever could. But let's see, we definitely got an idea of the next one.”

Surprisingly, this movie is the most fun I've had in theaters all summer.

Just watched this. 7/10.

It had me hooked from the amazing opening sequence.
