I'm those rare exceptions but I don't look forward to a team screen team up. That's why I don't want Spidey on the Avengers. I prefer him to have his own universe.

Honestly, I do too because I feel like his universe is unique. These are just some thoughts I've had as of late since it feels like CBMs are headed in that direction.

^^ That's one of the reasons. I also prefer something more grounded and realistic, like ASM franchise.

When writing, I rarely call my villains with their comic book names like "Green Goblin", I made the Bugle call him that because I thought it's a more realistic.

I don't want tons of superheroes with Spider-Man, or aliens dropping out of the sky and destroying everything on their way.

I strongly agree. If they don't plan on making shared universes, I'll be happier as a fan. Besides, Spider-Man has so many plots and arcs that have yet to be explored, so there's no ceiling for producers at all.

That's actually an interesting angle, man. I like that a lot

The bolded part is what throws me off about some superheroes, and it's the reason why people aren't attached to them the way they are with Spidey. I remember it being very awkward for me when they had the symbiote literally drop out of the sky in SM3 :funny:

I will admit though, a Civil War adaptation wouldn't be that bad lol. For now,let the web head have his own universe. I like to think of him as this unique hero that inspires everyone across the globe even not being present in every place.

Yeah exactly, just imagine if that happened with ASM3 ಠ_ಠ Like...out of nowhere. And they never actually explained a thing about it's origin what makes it even more awkward and out of place.

Some people wouldn't like but I would and I'm going with the Ultimate route which makes more sense than suddenly landing on Central Park lol.

The lacking of realism is what stopped me to buy/follow Spider-Man comics as kid. I couldn't handle the One More Day arc,the writers cornered themselves without any idea to deal with the world knowing Spider-Man identity and what route did they go? Magic, and I deeply hate mystical or magic stuff in comics.

This is random, but I must say, I love some of the moments between Spidey and Human Torch from the earlier issues of the original TASM.

This is from #18 where they both take on The Enforcers and Sandman. I could probably find a better example, but they complimented each other well, despite initially being rivals.

(I realize they go on to argue in this issue, but they still had some great moments)

19, in issue 18 Spider-Man was afraid to fight.

Oh yeah! Especially to incorporate characters such as Iron Man and Captain America, as we mentioned a couple of weeks ago. Can you imagine RDJ and Andrew Garfield in the same movie? :funny: Trust me, since I have family across the world, I know exactly how much of an impact he has internationally.

That's actually one of the reasons why I liked TASM's spin on things, and why I don't mind Oscorp being the center of everything. I'm huge on science, and while it may have been exaggerated, it became a pretty entertaining aspect of the series for me.

I certainly understand your sentiment in terms of some modern adaptations such as OMD adding a mystical spin to the universe. It's why I revert to the original series all the time. I mean, yes, I understand how time requires characters to adapt and modernize; however, it shouldn't be to the extent where you can't even trace back the character's footsteps to his/her original inception.

With that being said, I like Mysterio and tolerate his mystic powers. I want them to somehow make him work onscreen.

Thank you for the correction

Agreed with everything :highfive:

The bolded parts is also how I feel about these topics

I don't see what's wrong with magic? I mean the character has dealt with magic character, his friends are magic and this is not only the marvel universe but a comic book universe. But I do agree that how they handled OMD was **** like what was Mephisto's motivation behind this? Is their love really that strong that it bothered him that much? I know he's the devil and all but that type of logic has to make more sense especially since their relationship is just normal to every couple.

Spidey interacting with magic in comics can be fine when done very little.
He's better off away from magic.

I'll take a look at it for sure, UWH!

I can tell, just by your enthusiasm in discussing the series, that it must be pretty great. I still remember enjoying the couple of episodes that I watched, but I guess my movie time on the weekends always kept my focus elsewhere.

lol. Yeah, I don't think I can hide my love for TSSM very well. As a Spider-Man fan, that show just hits all the right spots for me and leaves me with an incredibly satisfied feeling after watching a season or heck, even just an episode. I think sometimes I talk about it too much so I'm often holding back when the topic comes up. I'd hate to sound like a broken record.

In regards to something being childish, I never let that get in the way as long as you can moderately tell the material isn't aimed entirely at children. Hell, some people even say comics are for kids (it's absurd), but I can still see myself reading comics for a long time.

And that's what makes shows like TSSM or Avatar or B:TAS so great. The initial appeal may be to kids because it's an animated product but the writing and everything else is on an entirely different level. It's unfortunate that the stigma attached to 'animated' shows and whatnot, is that it immediately receives the 'it's just for kids' stamp even before someone has watched an episode. People miss out on some really good stuff with that mentality imo.

Nearly 6 months later, finally got a frame for this.

anybody in this forum care about spiderman in the avengers? because i sure as heck don't. it's a pointless request that needs to die. whehter or not andrew appears in the MCU him in the avengers is certainly not on my list especially the request of him making a full appearance in the avengers 3. i'd rather he make a cameo fighting an invasion and cracking jokes somewhere in the area of new york city

No, you don't sound like a broken record at all. I know what that sounds like on these boards :funny:

I have plenty of shows, music, and movies I obsess over myself. I believe being connected to solid scripts or other forms of art can be a good thing, as it opens your brain to storytelling and creativity. I never used to be able to think of solid plots for movies and books until I was heavily involved with reading and writing.

It truly is a shame, and I feel the same way for comics.

A couple of my close friends have asked me what it is about comics that's so appealing, and I always tell them read one before they say that. Still, I'm the only one among my two best friends who's interested in comics. I generally know quite a few people who do read them, so they're the ones who I end up sharing my ideas with. It just sucks sometimes because it's something you're passionate about, but no one immediately around you is interested.

It's pretty much the reason why I joined these boards recently.

That damn auto corrector eh? :hehe:

I'm looking to my stand of movies and games trying to find something to do lol.

Right now in watching season 3 of dexter.

It's also Infuriating how we still have no news on the movies yet
