Night 23: Universal Studios Orlando Halloween Horror Nights 2022 Edition
No movies last night, but it's a movie themed theme park with several movie themed houses, so we're going to count them
They're in order of how I experienced them.
Dead Man's Pier: Winter Wake
In terms of original theming, this was the best one. The pier sets looked really cool, the costumes were well put together, and it was exceptionally well lit without losing any of the scariness. The blues really stood out from the rest of the other original houses, which all had the same kind of color schemes at times. 9/10
Hellblock Horror
Probably the worst one, and I only say that because I literally remember nothing about this one. Nothing stood out. Might've been because I was a little drunk, but no excuses. I want to be scared

0/10
Fiesta de Chupacabras
This was the lamest one as a theme, but that made it really funny to walk through. The costumes and puppets were really nice, but I could not take the Chupcabras seriously. 8/10 for the laughs.
Halloween
Easily the best one. I know I have a
Halloween bias, but this was a really well put together maze. Hit all the important beats to the film, and each of the sets looks fantastic. The recreation of the Laurie finding her friends in the bedroom was fantastic. The scares were well placed throughout, and honestly there were a couple of times it could be to jump. The only time I was scared of an unexpected jump was in this one while walking through sheets blocking your vision. The ending in particular was legit horrifying. 10/10
The Horrors of Blumhouse: Freaky
Part one of the Blumhouse maze. I'm not super familiar with the movie outside the basic premise, so i'm not really sure how well it recreated anything, but it was a really cool maze. I really liked the aesthetic, and the jumps were well placed. Would've been neat to have this been it's own thing instead of being one half with
The Black Phone. 7/10
The Horrors of Blumhouse: The Black Phone
Scarier than the movie to be honest. That mask is already horrifying, so imagine not being able to walk two feet without it jumping into your face. This was super well done, and super creepy. So many dark rooms with just a single light on the phone ringing, while you're unsure of where The Grabber will come from. Got me a couple of times. Again, this should've been its own house. 9/10
The Weekend: After Hours Nightmare
This one had the best costumes. I really liked the designs and the makeup looked really good. Wasn't particularly scary in the same way the others were, this one more relies on shock value with the elaborate sets. It was a nice breakup from the others which get a little samey samey after awhile. 8/10
Universal Monsters: Legends Collide
They do this one, or a variation of it every year. It's okay. It feels overly reliant on The Mummy, and not the other two monsters that are a part of it. The sets and costumes are really good, which makes sense considering they have to use them consistently. 6/10
Descendants of Destruction
This came at a time of night where people were clearing out and I was exhausted, so the next couple might not totally be fair. Not really sure the theme was very strong, and the lighting was so bad it was hard to really see anything. It's like a NYC subway station overrun by monsters? Wasn't great. 3/10
Bugs: Eaten Alive
I wish I didn't have to really rush through this one because I loved the aesthetic and costuming. 50s households with really good looking mutant bug costumes/makeup. Not particularly scary, but this was worth it just for the production. 7/10
Spirits of the Coven
Another one that was just kind of lame. I really liked the theme. A witches' speakeasy, but I didn't think the scares were particularly well placed. The costumes looked good though. Would've liked something a little more though. Felt it was missing a key ingredient. 5/10
