Probably the most Recent movie i have seen yet...when did Werewolf by night release?
This one did October 10th.

Grimcutty

I like the idea of Meme/Creepypasta based movies or movies who play with that idea.
But in this case, the potential of it is left on the floor.
Most of the time the movie doesnt know what it wants to be, is hindered by a clunky script which makes characters look very dumb.

Grimcutty has a cool design, but thats about it.
The movie manages to stumble to its end, but it wasnt really enjoyable.
Which is just such a shame because some 9 feet tall creepy monster tearing people apart...would have been cool.

Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)
Name a more memorable monster theme? You can't. This movie is pure 50s horror fun. Really neat and different environment. I really just love all the goofy shots of the Creature just chilling in the water. Dude just wanted some peace away from all these pesky scientists. Suit still holds up to this day for the most part.

Dracula (1931)

Another instalment of "I really can't believe this was made when it was." Some of the cinematography in this film is gorgeous and way ahead of its time. The approach of treating the film almost as a stage play really helps it in a lot of regards. I love a lot of the moments of silence that let you take in the style and atmosphere. Also helps when you have Bela Lugosi giving one of the finest performances of all time. Absolutely captivating.

Hoo boy, those 90s competition shows were quite something. Pretty fun entry with Ozzy's Dungeon and To Hell and Back being the clear standouts. Between this and Deadstream, Melanie Stone is becoming my new horror crush.

Shoutout to the kid playing RE2.

Spooky Review: A deep and meaningful examination of what it means to lose your virginity. Oh, and the Driller Killer is the heir to Little Caesars. Little Caesars...

Spooky Review: It's the greatest slumber party of all time. With people who don't know how doors work, death by jumping through a glass door, and very aggressive belly rubs!

The sheer amount of opportunities the victims have to escape in Slumber Party Massacre 3 and they don't take any of them...

The extended cut is the best. The little cul-de-sac of one of them wandering into a dead room two feet fromt he killer, getting cornered, not getting killed, and then running out of the room is hilarious.

It's getting to the point where I feel like Melanie Stone just acts like that in real life.

Also, I forgot to mention how hilarious Joseph Winter's screams are. It's like something out of Cartoon Network.

I didn't realize it was the Deadstream crew, until he screamed. :hehe:

Four years in a row you've used this stupid gif, and four years in a row I have cracked up over it :funny:
When we watched it for the first time, we had to pause, because we all died. Couldn't keep going for a solid few minutes, as we kept rewinding it trying to figure out the science behind it. :funny:

12. Bit

I really do love this movie. Just a nice little fun vampire movie. Its nice to see Nicole Maines outside the constraints of the CW. I do wonder how people who are unaware of Maines being trans would pick up on the lines in the movie about that. Still, fun film about hot vampire ladies.

13. Vamps

Checked this out primarily because of Krysten Ritter. A comedy, sure, but a fun one with a fun cast. Krysten Ritter, Alicia Slyverstone, Dan Stevens, Wallace Shawn, Malcom McDowell, and Sigourney Weaver is a fun cast.

The Batman (2022)
Three hour flight, three hour movie, perfect match. Most of you know the score here. If you give me the chance to praise and defend this film, I absolutely will. It's funny because I do think the film has some pretty major writing issues at times, but I only ever see people bring up "issues" that aren't actual issues, so I never delve too much into them. One day I will write an essay about this movie. There's just so much to talk about with what it's doing and how it does it. I find the themes about vengeance and healing incredibly poignant. Pattinson is absolutely my favorite to put on the cowl, and I don't think anything in this movie works even remotely close to as well as it does without his performance.

The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020)
I'm trying to get into the habit of just randomly choosing movies to watch based on title and if I like the poster. Sometimes you hit. Sometimes you get some really weird movies. This is the latter. I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be a comedy, and certainly has moments where it's quite funny, but the majority of the runtime feels way too deadpan while dealing with serious subjects that it doesn't come across as if I'm supposed to laugh at it. Compound that with a lot of stiff performances, you get this really weird mishmash. Really neat concept though, and I liked some of the thematic ideas going on, but they're not executed strong enough. The ending in particular was slightly confusing as a particular element felt like it came out of nowhere with minimal setup. Unless I missed something. It did lead to a really funny visual, even though it doesn't make much sense.

I've heard comparison between Snow Hollow and Werewolves Within. How similar are they, NB?

Also, it's so cool to have a Bat flick that really feels like it goes with October.
I haven't seen Werewolves Within, so it's hard to say for certain, but based on the trailer they don't seem similar at all outside of "werewolf killing people in a small winter mountain town". The plot and style seem incredibly different.

I'll definitely check out WW sometime this week though. I think I'm going to do a werewolf theme. The next couple of days.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts. :D

One of my newer favorites for one very obvious and some not so unobvious reasons. :hehe:

Yeah I saw Wolf of Snow Hollow when it came out, it's definitely a unique horror comedy that might not work for everyone and I don't think the movie works 100%. It's Jim Cummings trying to be Nic Cage set in a Fargo-esque town but there's a werewolf killing folks.

I cant be the only one who falls regularly into the trap of Horror movies that sell themself based on a cool cover right?

House of the Witch

It was one of those movies i just know they arent good, but the cover looks so cool and it makes me give it a chance.
Now this movie, it had potential...the idea, some of the sets etc, are not bad.
Sadly the movie constantly goes between a C and D budget movie...which ruins a lot of the potential.
A clunky script, weak actors and a direction that doesnt use what it has to its fullest.

You know these weird satuday afternoon free TV disaster Movies...i would say its like that for Horror Movies.

I remember back in the day the House of the Dead poster looked so cool without having seen a single trailer or knowing who Uwe Boll was.

Prey

Every once in a while you see a near-perfect movie. Prey is that type of film, at least for me. It's everything a movie like this should be: exciting, tight as a drum, doom-laden, and almost unbearably sad.

I loved the juxtaposition of both the Predator and the French trappers representing the aliens threatening the entire Comanche way of life. It was actually a relief to me when the story proper and the requisite 'action movie' portion of the proceedings kicked in. Had the film continued on as a metaphor for the inevitable assimilation of an indigenous people's existence, I don't think I could have beared the melancholy of it.

I loved how the film defies stereotype at every turn. Amber Midthunder's Naru is a wonderful pop culture creation. This film continues the encouraging trend of recent genre pics featuring female protagonists, where their strength comes as much from intelligence and personal agency as it does from physical prowess. Naru is a badass but the movie refuses to masculinize her. I hope this trend continues.

Special shout-out also to Dakota Beavers' Taabe, whose portrayal of the tribe's alpha doesn't come at the expense of his sister's stature. He doesn't belittle, condescend, or browbeat her; he fully understands her desire to be a warrior but his fraternal concern cannot be so easily cast aside. How refreshing that a genre film with a female lead doesn't patronize all its male characters into some kind of 'toxic masculinity' ghetto.

I'd love to watch the Comanche dub someday. I hope other producers take a lesson from Prey; this is now you do a legacy sequel. The film is faithful to the lore of the original, but you don't have to have extensive knowledge of the Arnie classic to enjoy it.

More, please.
