3D is the Future, Huh?

3D movies on dvd will die and all the people that bought 3D tv's will be very mad.

The economy is still in a hole....3D tv's are expensive...people don't have the money.

3D is annoying. I went to see Toy Story 3 the other day with some friends and I was waiting for another friend outside the cinema while they brought the tickets. We came back, brought our tickets, went to get them ripped by the woman workign there the she asked if we had our glasses. I was like 'No! Why are we seeing it in 3D? 3D doesn't seem to even blur when the 3D object moves!' ( I didn't read the ticket that said '3D' underneath it XD)
So my and my friend who also didn't know had to PAY £1.90 FOR 2 PAIRS! What a Rippoff!

I wonder if people complained about color films back in the day...

Comparing color to 3D is ludicrous

Look around you...everything is in color thats just the way the world is seen by people. Yes objects are 3 dimensional but you don't have to wear and extra set of plastic framed/plastic lensed glasses to experience that.

3D I think just inconvinient to many. It cost more, theaters are starting to show less 2D showings of the 3D movies, the eyewear is uncomfortable to some (particularly those who already wear glasses). And besides I've only really seen 2 movies that benefited from 3D: Avatar and How to Train Your Dragon...and those movies would have been fine w/o the 3D

Thats a good argument... although 3D TVs that don't require glasses are in development

The technology already exists, however everyone is milking the older technology first. Makes sense, but the tech will die before they get the chance to manufacture the glasses-free sets. Maybe that will be the "new" thing 20 years from now.

If they can limit 3D to a big film event every summer and winter, then fine. But otherwise it's just gonna over saturate the market and die off.

I think 3D would be better if they found a way to make it so you don't have to wear those horrible glasses to see it.

It still doesn't feel like 3D is the 'it' thing still.

the people to blame are hollywood, because they wanted a slice of the avatar pie they made conversions to make a fast buck but have put the consumer off with the horrible experience compared with avatar, effectively killing the golden goose.

they should be made to clearly stat whether or not the movie was FILMED in 3D.

It's not how the 3D is accomplished, it's the gimmick itself. Few like it.

Being an employee at a movie theatre I can honestly tell you that I am tired of the 3D trend. At my job we give out the glasses and at the end of every show, including the last show of the night, we have to pick up the glasses and wash them.

So customers pay a rental fee for the glasses along with the ticket prices and have to return them. Needless to say and rightfully so, they are upset at the fact that they can't keep them. However, I am tired of the 3D craze and feel it's just a gimmick in order to garner more money.

Hell, I love the Saw films. But I won't watch Saw in 3D as I will be content to watching it in the regular format and I have never seen a 3D movie nor do I intend to.

Lame, you gotta pick up glasses to send them off so they can get reused,at my work no one has to pick them up,in general. Once the RealD 3D box is full, then that's when people at my work gotta put the glasses in a new box for shipment. For reuse.

No surprise, there. That's what happens when you rush out a product before there's any demand for it. I mean, there are people that still haven't made the jump to HD, let alone 3D. Did they seriously expect there to be enough people with 3D-capable TV's to make a profit?

How stupid can they get?

You wanna talk about stupid, down under we were the first country on the planet to show a sports propgramme in 3D this year, yet 3D TV's had only been released for like 2 months down here, meaning the network spent all this cash to be the first in the world to broadcast this event yet buggar all people were able to see it!

3D is the future but NOT in 2010 and 2011.

They did. They also complained about sound. Then they complained about television. Then they complained about VHS.

3D was ran into the ground by Hollywood, who converted films that shouldn't be in 3D.

But 3D as a medium is valid. We need more films like Avatar, not The Last Airbender.

3D needs a film that treats the technology with respect and uses it to advance the story. And yes, that IS possible, film snobs.

I always find it funny that IMAX isn't considered a cheap gimmick by these people...

I feel like IMAX is completely different. You don't have to wear goggles for IMAX.

I'd much rather have affordable 4k TVs than 3D. That's probably about 10 years down the line, though.

So what will happen to CGI-heavy films with 2K max resolutions? And by 2k max I mean all of them.

All the while Casablanca will look as good as ever.
