Superman Returns 44 days later...

195.6million so far. Not too bad considering. Should top out at 197.5.
£369 worldwide.

going on a little posting spree? ;)

Wwwwwwooooooooowwwwwwwww 376. I expected three times that, but aww I was wrong...

Interesting... it has made 196,5m in US and it´s STILL making over a million a week...Hmmm...

The world needed a movie like Superman for all seasons, wich isn`t and is at the same time an origin movie, not Superman Returns. Everytime I read this comic i feel more disappointed with SR.

I wonder if it will make another million or so this weekend, i hope so, might just save this movie some face.

Unfortunately not. Just shy of $197.5million.
Looking unlikely to make $200million now, unless WB give it a good push, but
I'm doubting that will happen now.

Who knew Batman Begins would have beat it out with less marketing
Piff!

Only in terms of US box office. Superman Returns has made more globally.

so what... this film should've at least done 500 million global... it's ****ing Superman...

Maybe Batman Begins would have made more world wide if it was a superman movie or even a sequel to Batman Returns, with bale playing keaton's batman and discovering he's a father. I'd have seen it.

WTF??????:wow:
wesyeed. what are u on????

Nothing... I think.

I'm just saying yes there are so many factors to consider in why the box offices are
batmansuperman.jpg
.

Begins had a pretty huge hurdle with Batman and Robin still being pretty fresh in the public's mind when it came out and surprisingly to me was able to make as much as it did domestically, but perhaps it would have done better on a non-american side if it were more like returns, a vague sequel.

I dont want that, but it may be the way to go for big world wide bucks.

the dark knight will provide the bucks as BB bought the character back to cinematic life critically and commercially. everyone will want to see what happens next. the only thing holding the dark knight back in regards to HUGE box office numbers is that is a dark and mature film. not really a family film like spidey.
SR however.. well thats up for debate. i for 1 dont care to see what happens next in singers version as the road SR took was very dissapointing. i think its risk either way with an SR sequel. it doesnt have universal praise.

We'll see. TDK will definitely be a huge film, though it being darker less kid friendly, you're right it might not really kick spidey's ass at the B.O.

SR's in hulk's position now, though not exactly the same especially since SR's not an origin film or a new first ever movie for its hero like hulk's was. Still much like with hulk it didn't meet expectations for the studio and though when I visited here years ago there was, same as now, talk of universal willing to do another hulk, it never got made until of course as I learned, Marvel bought the rights to make the new hulk movie so now it's being done. Who knows what'll happen in SR's case... There will be a sequel of course, same as hulk. I always knew it would inevitably get one.

The only question is what are they doing, staying with ang lee's artsy approach or doing something different...

i am sure we will see more of a hulk smash comic book flick than the cerebral artsy approach lee took.
marvel have the rights so u can count on it being a comic book movie.
whether its any good is another matter.
hopefully it will be.
i want every superhero film to be a good one. the better they are the more we will get.
and now that they are saturating the market, the public will eventually get sick of them if they are consistently mediocre. so we need them to be good quality flicks that suceed at the box office.

I`m tired to see people comparing BB numbers with SR. Batman came from a destroyed franchise, with 5 recent movies. The last Superman movie was 20 years ago and its a shame that SR barely passed BB numbers. Singer blew his chance to me.
