6.05 Subterranean discussion thread

I saw another spoiler from S.A.M. about the runner of the Farm can go underground and something about him being able to breathe under there.

They were all talking about The Mole or something. Is that a DC character?

Actually Moleman was a Marvel character, I don't know of a DC counterpart. It'll be interesting, Tom Welling always plays the protector of those downtrodden very well.

He shows why he will be looked up to so well as he grows in the show.
Just think in a season or two, all that growing will pay off and we'll see :supes: .:D

:cue theme song:

look, up in the sky!

Wasnt Mole the name DC Comics editor was going by when doing his write up in the back of issues. Dan Didio (sp?) looks like a mole anyways lol

Hee, hee.

Here's the exact quote from Secretagentman.

Well, I now know what 'Subterranean" refers too. Seems Mr McNally, the nasty slave farmer, has the ability to breathe and burrow underground. Yeah.

More on Subterranean from the episode's director, Rick Rosenthal:

...[Rosenthal's] been coming back to the show off and on over the past few years of the show, and Season 6 is no exception. Rick has already wrapped production on the episode, ‘Subterranean’ airing on October 26th of this year.

With the switch over from The WB, to now the CW, Rick says things may change in the story lines. “They’re going to go through a little bit of a budget contraction until they see how the CW is going to do. My budget was clipped a little bit, and we shot the show in one less day than usual. To a degree, some of the size of the shows may get scaled back; maybe alternating between a big show and a small show.”

But he didn’t see that being a problem on his particular episode. “For what was shot on a day less, I still think it delivers. The opening shot of my Smallville episode is craning up out of the stalks of a corn field, and just as your rise up and see a corn field as wide as Kansas, whoosh, here comes a crop duster right into your face, and with that takes us over to a potato field where there are 50 or 60 migrant workers working in the field. You crane down and you see two young migrant workers who are sort of stuck, and sort of imprisoned on this farm; and that’s a pretty big shot. And then the next shot is the boy trying to escape at night, all through the corn fields – it has a great look to it. We were only able to do it because we planned meticulously.”

As far as the supernatural element to the episode – from what it sounds like, we could possibly be seeing Moleman appear. “There’s a creature who is moving underground and is sucking people into subterranean, into the bowels of the Earth; it’s got all kinds of stuff going on.”

And Rick’s coming back to Smallville again for another episode in January; “They’ve whispered to me that they have something special planned.”

Budget cuts, eh? That ain't cool. :(

Subterranean is now episode 9, this is what Craig had to say, from TWoP:

I'm told it's nothing juicy, just some stuff needs to be added in, and it worked better this way.

It didn't really feel like Sweeps-month material anyway, so it's no real loss.

geez I hope it's not one of those episodes like Redux that got shown out of continuity
