I only saw the bootleg, but I don't think it was a bluff. I may have not been following properly, but I think he did shoot one and throw them out of the plane. It was the fact he was shooting them first that Bane mocked.

Again... I think... I may need to watch again and pay more attention, that damn half of the screen being gone doesn't help things one bit.

No no, in the theater it was clear that he just tossed him back farther in the plane.

Nolan told the editing for the film is not yet started but the ending of the prologue seems like transition into the next scene with the familiar music...... it seems like an intentional tease for the fans that the next scene going to showcase the gotham after the events of TDK......

hopefully another villain doesn't steal the movie away from batman

So may I stir up the first of un-answerable debates on a plot hole, already?

If Bane discovered the CIA *****e's bluff of not throwing people out of the plane - why would he believe that the flight plan included 1 extra person?

Basically - did he just make that guy sacrifice himself for fun? Or he just didn't like that guy out of his thugs.

or both? lol

"I hate Jerry. I'm going to make him kill himself today. Bye, Jerry."

idk. lol. Maybe i'm missing something.

Theories? Explanations?

Great point. He was just bluffing about throwing them out of the plane so I doubt he was going to kill them. It was an interrogation tactic. The CIA agent was an arrogant, cocky SOB, but you're right, I doubt he wouldn't include all of them in the flight plan or had any intent on killing them. The follower may have died for nothing because the agent probably called in and planned for everyone.

Christoper Nolan said:
My feeling, particularly on an action film, is you want to be thrown into a situation that somehow takes your breath away early in the film. I think rhythmically — you know, I view these films as pieces of music — if you start with a bit of a bang, it buys you more time to then calmly move into the story and the characters. We have a lot of characters in this film, a lot of people to introduce, a lot of catching up to do with the audience. So I think it was important to really throw something big on screen and then take our time.

EW.

That is extremely uncommon for a third film too, to be introducing a lot of characters.

Speaking of treating this films as pieces of music, if you listen to the first track off of The Empire Strikes Back John williams goes through a thematic introduction of all characters within the first 6 minutes of the film.

That way we don't waste time on reintroducing everyone. Nolan is probably grappling with the opposite, introducing New Characters, I can't wait to see how he does it

I love saying all the lines in this prologue to myself, trying to mimic the delivery.

WHY DUS HEE WEAARR DE MASSK!!

I have a hate/love relationship with the CIA guy. Over the top as hell, it's weak but I'm also weak for that kind of characters in movies like this.

CIA *****e was ace, nobody does smarmy git better than Littlefinger, nobody.

Perhaps Bane has been planning this mission for months and had more exact information on the flight plan. From those 6 minutes we know he is a brilliant tactician so I don't think it's beyond doubt that he had some other knowledge of the flight plan.

Puts a whole new spin on the whole "I did warn you not to trust me" thing, doesn't it? :D One meta-petard, ready for hoisting...

When i heard Bane i can imagine:

Yeah it should be interesting how Nolan introduces all these new characters and if he can do all of them justice without taking anything away from the other characters we still need to catch up on. I bet Nolan found that challenge exciting as a storyteller.

It does seem like almost all of the new characters will get backstories - Bane, Catwoman and Tatelia. Blake is probably the only one without one.
