That's what I concluded as well. He's so arrogant that it's somewhat satisfying to see him go down even though he is (apparently) a good guy and Bane is bad. It blurs the lines a little bit.

Just not feeling it. The TDK prologue is light years better.

The music is pretty good. The overall concept is fine. The execution is not, and bordering on cheesy. The CIA guy is awful. Just awful. Bane's reveal is a little boring, frankly, and anticlimactic. Everything else just isn't executed all that well. The action, which has been highly touted, I'm just not impressed with. There's nothing breaktaking going on here. What's happening with the plane is kind of cool, but it all looks awkward. They're trying to show tactics, but the way its edited just makes it seem kind of boring and routine. Even Bane moves with little sense of purpose, and seems to be just standing in place, randomly moving around and attaching himself to things. The whole sequence looks like a leftover scene from a 70's Bond movie or something. And Bane exiting the plane with Dr. Pavel is shades of the security guard from BATMAN FOREVER, with his annoying screaming. The clips at the end...nothing to get excited about, even before the trailer.

I had the same general reaction. TDK's Prologue was taught, assured and thrilling -- it fulfilled the promise hinted at in the epilogue of Begins, played like a smart homage to Melville, Mann, etc., and pushed a lot of my buttons. This one was loud, confused and silly. The wind is definitely out of my sails, expectations-wise.

I wouldn't have been as indifferent/disappointed had I not given all the gushing early reviews any weight. I was reading things about the action sequence being "mind-blowing", "cleverly choreographed", "unlike anything seen in major blockbusters".

While I never thought it would reach those high expectations, in retrospect those claims come off as so typical of an exaggerating fanboy.

The one key difference is that I liked the action. He makes a point about Bane's nonchalantness in the plane, but when I think about how Bane's under the constant effects of the gas, I can understand how eerily calm he is compared to everything else that is going on. I've brought up my other complaints a few times before in the past and don't really want to elaborate on them again, hopefully not until July if I can help it.

I, personally, ignored the reviews (details on why it was mind-blowing) and the bootleg audio leak -- and I certainly believe it made a difference.

I found TDKR prologue to be far superior than TDK's. The intensity and pacing were much higher. It's a plane hijacking in mid-flight, after all. Then on top of it all, Bane's voice, stare, strike (to the agent's throat) and men were downright more chilling and precise than The Joker's portrayal/reveal in TDK prologue.

I just wanna say that CIA guy is a great actor. Pitch perfect on The Wire and Game of Thrones, I didn't even recognize him 'til the 3rd time I saw this prologue.

I really, really hate to admit this, but the only thing keeping me from liking TDKR's prologue better than TDK's is Bane's voice.

I don't hate it, but every time I watch it I find myself really distracted by it and it takes me out of the experience a bit, which is a shame, because I like the concept, execution, story and everything else about TDKR's prologue better.

I just very much hope this won't be a problem with the entire movie.

He is terrible in the prologue. It's over acting at it's worst. And the dialogue is awful "So tell me, what's the next part of your master plan!" Oh **** off will ya.

But I did enjoy the prologue overall, I thought Bane was interesting. And i liked how the exit of the plane is obviously intended to show a similarity between Bane and Batman. (the HK scene)

But, the whole blood transfusion thing is kinda stupid.

I have to say I didn't reallly like him in the prologue, I'm not sure he was convincing.

Perhaps that is why he comes across as over-acting because he is at his best when playing physically weak but very smart, even subversive, characters that have time to work away at you.

For those criticising the dialogue, I would agree, but it's not really his fault...

That's exactly how you're supposed to feel. He's annoying, overconfident and an ass.

he played the part so convincingly somehow many people have missed that he's acting.

I don't mind people not liking the prologue but you've given one example of "bad dialogue" but then give your reaction to it, which is the EXACT reaction the performance and the dialogue is supposed to illicit.

Did you feel Bane's Dialogue was bad as well?

But the character is clunky and forced. He's an idiot trying to play big man. I can't stress this enough. He is supposed to be awkward and unbelievable, you should be rolling your eyes at him the moment you see him, standing there with his hands on his hips, proud of getting Pavel back.

The way he gestures the soldier to bring the next hooded prisoner over, the gleam in his eye, he nearly winks at the guy with a big grin on his face. He's pleased with himself.

He's a jackass.

In the context of the scene, that just came out of nowhere and seemed completely unnatural. But I love Bane's voice and the way Hardy delivered it, so eh, doesn't bother me too much.

The other guy? Yea i can see he's playing the big man, he's a "try hard". But to me it just seems like he's acting. Over acting.
